If I want to create say a dozen nearly identical renders, the way VNs use, do I actually have to save a dozen copies of a nearly identical render so that renderqueue can handle it?

If I want to create say a dozen nearly identical renders, the way VNs use, do I actually have to save a dozen copies of a nearly identical render so that renderqueue can handle it? Or if I just click add current a dozen times after making a dozen minor changes does that work? (or does it just add the single save file to the list pointlessly a dozen times.)

I suppose I should be greatful renderqueue can restart the program and load a dozen scenes and render them all while I sleep, but keeping track of 100 scene files for say only 5-10 scenes will get confusing fast.
