I’ve got my hands full on my own projects, but for anyone willing to attempt this, I can outline some base drafts of an overall game idea that come to mind when I think of this, just to help spur on anyone who would like to attempt this:

IDEA ONE: Basically you’re monitoring someone (or something) that you’re not supposed to let eat various foods (or objects) around the observation area, and your goal is to survive a certain amount of time without allowing whatever the subject is to get too fat.

The “spot the difference” nature of I’m On Observation Duty leads me to suggest 3D graphics (or an insane amount of sprite work) for very subtle weight gain so that you can’t instantly notice when the subject has gotten bigger. That, or have the mechanic be that it’ll attempt to sneak food into an isolated area for consumption and you have to stop it on the way there by calling out when it’s attempting to do so. It could also be a scenario of multiple entities with different behaviors and variations on the aforementioned concepts.

The biggest issue I see with this concept is it falls in the trap of “the main kink of the game is the lose condition”, as monitoring its weight and preventing it from getting to big being the goal means when played optimally, you’d never actually see the weight gain, and you’d be doing everything in your power to prevent it. Thankfully, that leads me to…

IDEA TWO: You are in charge of watching several entities/characters that are constantly growing somehow (the method can be up to whoever attempts this), and you must watch for irregularities in their growth rate. If a subject begins growing outside of their listed natural growth rate, you must take action to prevent the worst case scenario (whatever that may be, up to the dev).

The difficulty on this concept comes from a mix of the previous “hard to tell when the subject is bigger than they should be” coupled with the fact that growth is unavoidable in the first place, meaning you need to watch out for subtle changes not just in how big a subject is, but by how much and how fast.

Another factor is that this would be a scenario where multiple subjects are in play, and likely on different cameras, leading to a need to carefully observe changes in each subject (who would each likely have different growth rates) to ensure nothing is getting out of hand. Naturally, this lends itself better, in my opinion, to the kinky nature of this game idea, since all subjects getting to certain size is the win condition, but letting them get past that size is the lose condition. Still technically outside of the realm of “bigger is better” since the largest size results in failure, but it’s a better take on it if you ask me.

I can probably come up with more if I put more though into this besides my initial ideas, but these should hopefully provide a good springboard to anyone attempting this. I hope someone does pick up the concept, I would love to see something new in this vein of weight gain game myself
