Version 0.1.4

This is quite a minor update with a focus on quality of life changes and a lot of bugfixes. If you have played previous versions, there isn’t any new content - however the progression of the game has been fixed from 0.1.3. I apologise for taking a while on quite a small update, but I’ve been very sick for the past month so progress has been slow!

A full list of changes, with bugfixes and credits, can be found in the README.

Feedback is always appreciated, positive or negative, so please let me know what you think! Feel free to drop me a message on here or elsewhere if you have any questions too!

What's Next?

NOTE: 0.2.0 is planned to be released around mid-October. When I get closer to an actual release point, I’ll post an update in this thread!

Version 0.1.4 is most likely going to be the last update for some time. I have big plans for the game’s next updates and I want to focus on releasing larger updates now that the game is a more ā€œstableā€ condition.

For the next version, I’m going to focus on overhauling the main town as well as improving the relationship system. This should also bring a major improvement to the fetish elements of the game, as I know that it could be miles better than what it is now. For now, here’s a list of just a few of the planned things for the next update:

  • Completely new maps, buildings, and houses for Port Beren.
  • The Wayfarer’s Guild to the North will be open to the player.
  • Some new characters including feeders and male weight gain options.
  • A character select option for the player.
  • Unique Spring content; such as a special event, NPC birthdays, and seasonal fish.
  • A new relationship system.
  • The gathering skill for things like mining.
  • And a lot more!

This probably won’t include major changes to the surrounding islands. However, I will be significantly overhauling the 4 current islands as well as adding in a few extra in the updates following!

Known Issues
  • It’ll say you learned the ā€œDemo Toolsā€ skill after finishing the tutorial, but this skill has been removed in 0.1.4.
  • The seeds selection menu won’t show seeds unless you save and reload. This is due to a plugin filter that is applied when feeding someone.

Thank you for all of your support. I hope you all continue to look forward to the future of this game!

This is looking really good! I really want to see where this is going.

Two bugs I ran into. First, I went into the ā€˜sleeping shack’ on the ruins island, and when I exited, it put me in front of the sleeping shack on the snow island. And when I exited to the world map, my boat wasn’t there so I was stuck on it. Had to restart, pretty gamebreaking.

Second, if you hold down the ā€˜confirm’ button, the day timer goes faster. Not a huge problem but I noticed it while I was fishing and pre-holding the button.

I have a couple suggestions and comments on it so far.

  1. This could really use a quest tracker of some kind. Something that gives you all the information you got from the NPC at the start, like the location of the fish/delivery you’re supposed to go to.

  2. More directions and location info. Some signs in the town by the buildings with names and by map exits with where they go. A pop-up with the name of where you’re at when you enter an area would be cool, too. Some kind of ā€˜world map’ key item would be cool, maybe gets updated with every boat upgrade you get.

  3. The ā€˜hold the button’ fishing mechanic seems kind of superfluous. Even if you hold the button, it seems like it’ll always just depend on how good your rod is if you catch the fish or not. You could go without it, or you might go with some timing-based mechanic(press or hold the button at the right time). I wouldn’t make it too difficult, though, it’s a chill game after all.

  4. I kinda wish the timer was a little slower, and paused while interacting with stuff. It’s not mechanically an issue, it just feels a little stressful to me for it to be ticking down so quickly, especially while I’m reading text.

Ooh, this is interesting. Obviously I haven’t had time to really dig in, but it looks promising.

  • Some more detail about the world would be helpful, and maybe a log for requests. For example, the witch wants a fish from the mountain, the shopkeep wants a fish from the old city, etc., but the player has no idea where they are, and the ocean is pretty big with minimal landmarks (seamarks?) to guide their exploration. Given the time-passage mechanic, it seems wasteful to just sail around randomly.

  • The mountain cabin seems to be unlocked even before you receive the key for it.

  • The high-or-low gambling game has a bit of a bug - if you select ā€˜Lower’ and the host rolls a draw, the next roll will act as if you chose ā€˜Higher’ instead.

  • It’d be nice to see how much energy each food item restores, or even if they restore a different amount of energy from each other.

Ah. I forgot to put in the post there’s a spell called Demo Tools that gives you a teleport, it should move your boat with you when you use it, in case something like that happened - sorry about that!

I had also noticed the day going faster when you fish, thought I had changed that but I’ll take another look!

And thank you for the suggestions! You’re spot-on with all of them and I’ll look at adding/changing things:)

Thank you for trying it out!

I’ll take a look at those issues and I definitely agree with your suggestions!

Fantastic! If there’s any more debug tools/spells to mess with while this is still in-progress(like a free money thing or whatever), it’d be cool to have a list.

One other thing I forgot to ask. I haven’t played enough to know if this is/will be available, but if you could find it in your heart to include some guys to get fat, that’d be incredible. Being able to gain weight yourself, and pick your sex/gender, would also be amazing. It’s always fun to have to deal with the consequences of weight gain, and it’d add more stuff to upgrade/acquire to mitigate getting slower and needing to eat more and stuff like that.

For sure! I’ll add a free money thing too.

And I have plans to add male weight gain!

It’s not very well explained but you should be able to gain weight yourself if you eat any food, although I want to add actual consequences too it as well! Choosing your gender at the beginning is also something I wanted to add:)

Heya i adore the concept and ca’t wait to see where you take this!,
i have 2 things to add though
1: Slob content seems to not be working, whenever i try to enable the it the promopt simply refuses to apply it and asks me again if i wanna enable it.
2: when i entered the broken city up northwest from the mainland i encountered a house wich had an exit leading to the snow biome, when i tried to leave the biome i simply couldnt because my boat was on the other island.

Also forgot to mention if character WG is currently in the demo!

There isn’t a lot of slob content currently but it should turn on if you select it, I’ll add an indicator whether it’s on or off though! And I’ll upload a fixed version with the wrong exit thing in a moment! But again if you get stuck there should be a teleport spell that moves you and the boat:>

I’m not sure why, but the fish I’m catching in the Ruins have changed, I’m catching Northern Pike and Catfish instead of the tarnished dace I was before, and I assume the Runemarked Salmon quest fish

I also can’t eat the sandwiches from the cafe

I also couldn’t tell that the white ā€˜pond’ inside the ice cave was even fishable water. It looked like a wall or something. I think a different texture might be a good idea.

There are 5 different fish you can catch in the Ruins at all times, so that sounds right to me unless it gave you a ton of Dace before LMAO.

EDIT: Also I’m stupid, you can only eat the food you can craft - I forgot to change it. My ass was being sloppy.

Game looks really neat. One bug I encountered is that trying to eat food when you’ve already eaten takes the food out of your inventory while not giving you any energy

Nice game!

I found a bug in the ruins. If you go into one of the building and step out, you end up in the white mountain. W/o the demo tools, the game is effectively locked because your overworld boat is parked at the ruins.

edit: Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but there doesn’t seem to be a penalty for draining your energy to 0.

You’re right about energy! You shouldn’t be able to fish at 0 energy, that’ll work as intended next version:)

When I give the drunk adventurer lady some Sweet Berry Cider, it doesn’t take the bottle and it just repeats itself.

After a couple hours, and progressing as far as I can figure out how to, I’ve got some more thoughts on the game. I really like the concept and the way it’s set up, and I’m definitely looking forward to more but I think it needs some tuning.
It takes forever to make money, like it’s a struggle to make a thousand a day. I feel like the selling price of fish could stand to be doubled, or the cost of items could be halved, or honestly both might work. Some of the quest rewards have been kind of underwhelming, particularly the one where you keep bringing the bartender food and getting rewarded with… different food. Equipment or recipes would feel more rewarding.
Also, maybe I’ve just hit the point where the game needs more updates to progress, but I’ve gotten the best equipment I can find, namely the best rod as a quest reward, and an upgraded Strength ring, but I still can’t catch Voidmaw or some of the higher tier fish. Not sure if I missed something or the game just isn’t that far along yet.

from the little bit ive played this is super fun!!

just a small thing, when you talk to the old guy for the first time at the old city, if you are standing in front of him the game will kinda softlock you in the cutscene. i know its because he walks forward during your convo with him and by you standing in front of him you block his way.

Love the game so far!

would be funny (and hot) if the player could get too heavy for the boat

I’m liking the game so far, but how do I make money exactly?
No store I’ve gone to has a ā€œSell itemsā€ option.
