I can answer a few of your questions and propose a few theories on the unexplained lore.
First, the shields are able to fend off both physical and energy attacks, but it’s geared more towards energy which is why the Free use melee weapons. I’m assuming that the shield’s work via a battery that when turned on gives off a sweet taste and smell.
Second, seeing as how they’re plants I’m sure they can regrow limbs given enough time. I’m sure some need certain nutrients and be at a certain size to be able to survive a decapitation. Or they might have some other method of dealing with injuries like that.
Third, this is a complete crapshoot but I’m theorizing that the Gemuse never has encountered any lifeform like that of Earth seeing as how none of the Gemuse has considered Clara to be an alien to them (at least not yet). My theory is that since Gemuse are plants they likely colonize planets that have no life on them and they build the planet’s ecosystems and biomes in some sci-fi way. They are habitat builders after all and they have air conditioning. But this is just a guess. Posit your own theories if you have one.
Well i guess that does make sense, but im not sure about the use of melee weapons used by the free. If that was the case they probably be using something like a bayonet or a machete. And the sheild also raises another question, how much pressure can the sheild take before breaking. Like what is stopping like say clara (for example) from simply taking a freezed soldier and bite through or breaking the sheild and eat them like candy.
Also, anyone work with silly tavern before cause i don’t quite understand how the ai work in this thing.
Am I the only one thinking that, being as we got introduced to the Gemuse as a spooky update on Some Bullshit, we will be treated to a It Came From Lantrum! update by late October to highlight that date?

Heya Nerds! Glad to hear from ya! I didn’t want to message and ask on progress, because I didn’t want to seem impatient and hungry for an update. You can bet that when you update I’ll be playing it straight away though! Seriously, take your time: just know that your brand of humor, game design and lovely lovely characters and “world” are top notch. Worth every second of waiting. not sure if I got their names right), but I have a theory that it’ll be Clara’s most favorite holiday right now.

I decided to replay this on a whim. I gotta say, it was even better than the first time. It’s a great idea, and I picked up a lot more little details than I did on the first go around.
Because I love (mostly) baseless speculation, I want to draw attention to some bits of dialogue that have gone mostly unmentioned up to this point. Three things to note:

Prior to the meeting where the department heads vote on Clara’s fate, Clara mentions, with some concern, that she’s been “unusually hungry” lately. She specifically says she was “never like this.”

Following the ambush on the Gemuse scout party, Brassie talks about her study of Clara’s biology. She says that she found the hormones Ghrelin and Tryptophan in “elevated, concentrated amounts.” She also says that her Leptin had been suppressed and that “Clara was primed for binging.” I did some reading on these. Ghrelin is the “hunger hormone,” and apparently increases whenever the body is hungry. Tryptophan is a food hormone associated with growth and muscle development. Finally, leptin regulates hunger relative the body’s fat storage, meaning that if it was suppressed, a person would eat as if they had barely any fat stored. Pretty cool biology references on your part, Nerds!

It isn’t dwelt on much, but Clara is immune to the captain’s attempts to mind control her during the ambush. Clara wasn’t immune in Some Bullshit, and Brassie says her immunity wasn’t caused by her special contact lenses.
All this in tandem leads me to believe that Clara has been augmented by some outside force prior to her abduction by the Gemuse. I say “prior to” because the Gemuse seem to have no idea what her biology is like, nor do they expect her to be resistant to their mind control. Who, what, or why? I have no idea. There’s no explanation given as to the circumstances leading to her departing Lantrum and ending up with the Gemuse. But I feel like Nerds is hinting at something here and I’m curious to see what this might be foreshadowing!

I should replay this too, but I don’t want to make myself eager for an update. My appetite for an update is manageable right now. LOL
Apologies my man, I know I am excited to get an update out too, but due to a variety of things, I’ve found it very hard to work on the game these past couple months. I’ll be posting some interesting teasers soon, but a release is still pretty far away. It shouldn’t be a full year before next update though, I would hate for it to take that long.
Don’t worry Nerds, as much as the thought of having to wait a whole year is terrifying, if it means more Clara, then even a whole year is worth it 
The game is really fun, i like how the story is. And if you need more time, then it’s ok, nobody is forcing you and any project takes a lot of time.
I have to say, everytime i see Tap doing “that face”, i ended up laughing like a maniac, it’s way too funny and the writing and jokes are great.

One can’t rush quality. And quality is definitely what you do. Some Bullshit was an absolute masterpiece of a game. And this is like a passion project of dessert. So please, take all the time you need.
I wanted a Clara + Gemuse sequel and I got a Clara + Gemuse sequel. This is already a dream come true. I was merely saying that if I decided to replay v.01 it likely would just make me salivate and like… no no, must, must be patient.
I know I’m a bit late, but take all the time you need! You’ve already crossed the finish line with Some Bullshit, there’s no need to push yourself or rush on this one.
