Huh, I don’t have a numpad on my laptop so that never crossed my mind, that’s a good idea, I’ll try to remember and add that.
Its pretty fun! I’m curious how possible it would be for others to make their own character designs for the game?
It might be possible, as far as artistic labor goes I don’t think there’s a whole lot of sprites you’d have to redraw, so that’d be very doable. I’m not really sure how tough it is to swap out assets without having the source project file either, but I’m sure that could be figured out as well.
Overall, as long as people keep the file names the same and replace the old assets with the new ones, I think it should just work. Only thing is that I may have to make a template for the snake assets so then people know where to draw things so that everything lines up and looks right.
this game is too cute!
I believe that definitely could work, having a designated file where you can quickly replace the existing file
Kooky’s Kastle (Snake game) 0.0.2 is out. You can download it from the google drive link at the top of this thread.
Sadly, it’s kind of a buggy mess. I was going to try to polish it more before releasing, but couldn’t get myself to power through. So I decided to at least just drop what I’ve got so far here, cause it is different from the first version, so might as well let everyone at least check it out.
The main highlight is the new weight gain system, Pooky can now get bigger than ever!!
This system completely changes how levels are made now too, perhaps to a fault, as it feels a lot more restricting than previously.
Aside from that, there’s some more gimmicky stuff added to it too, but there’s not much else.
I’m probably going to abandon this project, it has potential, but it has too many problems and I don’t feel it’s worth dumping any more time into it. Even if I wanted to keep working on it, I’ve lost all willpower and motivation to continue anyways.
The Gain Jam is right around the corner, I’ve got plans for other games lined up afterwards, personal projects and team projects. I gotta leave this project behind so I can more on to others pretty much.
