Lesbian WG VN Project

Hey, I’m Bree and I started working on this lesbian WG VN just over 2 weeks ago and I want to start a Projects topic to post the continued development. I have the Beta of PC and Mac( no idea if the Mac will work, just know that Renpy said it would) and I’d like some feedback for my story so far.

I posted under Project Ideas & Discussion before with the title “Unnamed Visual novel project”, so you can see a few more details from that if you’re wondering where my story might be headed. I’ll link it here Unnamed Visual novel project

Anyways, here’s the beta! It’s just the intro for now, but I’ll keep working on it.

Any pictures or stuff you can post on the itch page?

Not really. Hope to eventually have actual visual aspects to it, but it’s currently just a text adventure. The only picture I’d be able to add are that of different dialogue.

Off to a great start with the intro, can’t wait to see where you will take us with the story.

Great start! Looking forward to whatever comes next. As to your question at the end about a patreon, I’d avoid it at least for a bit until you’ve gotten more of the game together. I’d rather have a longer, good game with no visuals than a game with visuals but is very short.

almost had me then you decided to put lesbian in the title

So, is it a scam? I was scamed once before.

No. Itch will auto flag new posts from users with newly created accounts that make a post soon after they create their account, as well as some other parameters that can point to a link, or download being unsafe. To my knowledge this is done automatically on their site, in which someone probably manually reviews cases that pop up as potential scams. If you look at the itch page now there is no longer any warning. It’s the internet, so it’s always better to be safe and scan files or downloads to make sure something is safe, warning or not, but in this case there was nothing suspicious about the game.

Got it. But somehow I still can see the download warning.

in my experience renpy games are frequently miss flagged by virus malware software. I think this has to do with how renpy works, but im not really sure. I almost always see a warning.

If your concerend with a game and or it author, its not hard to look at the renpy script files since most authors leave in the .rpy files when distributing. If your concerned they messd with the python or renpy engine its not hard to just transplant a game folder into the sdk so you can be sure the renpy engine is not compromised, by using the sdk you downloaded seperatly(this is also fun as it unlocks the sdk debuger so you can “cheat” assuming you know what your doing). Assuming the .rpy files were all left, and you get rid of the .rpyc files while using the renpy sdk and the transplanted game folder there should be no risk assuming you reviewed the .rpy files.

However this is going completely overboard, 99% of the time.

I don’t see the warning anymore on my end, could be weird itch stuff. But either way you can check the creator’s weight gaming profile and see they’ve been on the site since 2021, lots of activity and have engaged before within the community. Other’s have downloaded it and had no issues (including myself), and you can always check out the files for yourself or run it through something to determine keyloggers or malware if you’re suspicious of the files. It’s always healthy to be skeptical with downloads on the internet though. Worse case you might just have to wait until that warning you’re still seeing is gone.

My guess is that it’s because the game can close itself at the end? No clue how this stuff gets flagged but I imagine any .exe that can open or close another process might be.

You are right, I was way too focus on itch, I forgot to check the weight gaming profile.

Still flagging when I go on Itch.Io.

Suggestions:

  1. Add images, I know it’ll just be text screens right now but it tends to make a page look more legit for people stumbling upon stuff.
  2. Fill out the page more with descriptions etc, a generic blank page tends to make it seem more suspect

Adding another reply I ran the file through Virustotal.

1 whole hit, before anyone cries virus though the antivirus in question flagging it is known to be unreliable and stupid using some stupid code comparison tool and has flagged stuff like

For comparison the official Nvidia experience installer was flagged by another antivirus (another know crappy one)

Another example, the official Zone Alarm Antivirus was flagged by 2 others as a virus

Basically
Kaspersky says the file is fine (formerly considered the best Antivirus on the market)
Sophos says the file is fine as that’s used by a lot of corporations.
Bitdefender says it’s fine and it’s widely considered the best anti-virus on the market
Avast says it’s fine and that fucker is known for being paranoid thing that’ll attack any file it thinks looked at it funny.
