Looking for info about hiring a programmer, not hiring atm though

Just never done before so asking some questions I have to start with, such as whether or not it’d cost extra to get them to fix any bugs I plug-in they made or mechanic they designed and how much one might cost depending on what I ask of them for an rpg maker game code wise, maps, characters i would try to handle myself same as potentially using their code to try to learn how to myself as long as they were ok with it etc, wondering if easier to hire someone for coding /mechanics etc like I said and just doing game map/design myself or are they more intertwined than I know and would he far harder to do by two people ? Again this is just for info to make a better decision sorry. No Ai though ,just for simpler to deal with someone who knows the ins and outs of what they’re doing

If you’re just getting started with RPGMaker, it would be far more useful to familiarise yourself with the engine first before hiring anyone to do any coding. RPGMaker is pretty simple to learn, there’s very little in the way of coding so learning how to make your game yourself will be far quicker than waiting for the right freelancer to come across, not to mention more rewarding for yourself. There’s tons of tutorials all across the internet, I highly recommend you look at those and start making mini-projects (not your full game first try, instead vertical slices of specific mechanics) to get the hang of things.

Then there’s the logistics and communication issues that will arise from having multiple people working on the same game. Conveying what you want, sharing files, handling payment - there are a lot of things you’ll need to stay on top of to make sure your game doesn’t get canned, none of which are helped by you not being familiar with the engine you’re using.

It sounds like you want to hire someone to write plugins for you, but why? What idea do you have in mind that can’t be accomplished in the vanilla engine? What do existing plugins lack that require a new one to be made? You can’t truthfully answer either of those questions because you have no idea what’s already possible in the first place. Start by learning what can be done (by yourself!) before you jump to commissioning custom systems.

The main plug-in im after is a weight gain system for a vore game as well as a means to trade weight/mass in for buffs /perks is this in the vanilla engine ? Also admittedly I leaning towards hiring a freelancer because no matter how badly I want to do or learn something, i never do,I just waste time gaming or doom scrolling because I must not want to do them enough, unless theres some mental reason behind it which I hope not, again im not trying to be rude ,its just - unfortunately, i know me

I think we all feel like we should control ourselves without issue, and watching ourselves fail to do that is very painful! I feel for you.

Sounds like it absolutely is a mental reason. Or a psychological one. Something to take to a wise friend or a therapist, for sure.

I think if you are having a lot of trouble getting yourself to work on something, hiring someone else for it would be very unwise use of money. You could end up with financial and emotional problems real fast here. Cliche as it is, work on yourself first.

Tbf I already have financial issues buying all the crap I wanted a kid and just things I want in general, hell I just bought like 5 ps4/5 games even though I havnt even started the ones I already had lo

Hilariously enough im supposed to see a therapist for an adhd screening but because the only guy (for older assesments) is on the other side of the country I have to book an online appointment but I dont what tf im supposed to do or have ready for said appointment)

All possible out of the box. And yeah that’s even more reason not to hire someone, if you can’t keep yourself in check to continue working on something then being financially responsible for someone else will only make things worse. Work on improving your own mindset first, find what drives you and look into ways to break out of the vicious cycle of social media.

The problem is - my only drive is just surviving, not living, just making it until I can go to bed is all I have

First off, if you’re considering killing yourself, don’t. Do not.

I think it would help to get a friend or family member and walk and talk outside with them. We are kinda strangers on an Internet forum; we’re not in the right place to help you with this.

If you don’t like that idea, just hang tight until that screening appointment and take it from there. Just bringing yourself is much better than not showing at all. For what it’s worth, I’m willing to talk in DMs if you want.

Its not on my mind dont worry,if I did no one would be able to look after my sisters and I do appreciate the help, but I’ve been putting off booking that appointment for a month probably because theres no real deadline and also most of my family is unfortunately busy for the most part when im free because I work so early compared to them,I may take you up on that dms offer but just not yet thanks

Hey, sorry about your personal situation. I feel ya and good luck with sorting it out.

As for hiring a programmer, you should know that there are a lot more programmers on here than any other kind of developer. So if you can produce half-decent dialogue or art and are willing to share the fun of designing the world and game in general, you should also consider looking for a team.

Generally, when you ask somebody to create a system like for gaining the weight, there are a lot of possible implementations and the one appropriate for the project will often evolve as the project grows. So unless you know exactly what you need, working with a freelancer who only involves himself at a small part of the development can often lead to ill-suited implementation later on.

It depends on how you want it to work specifically, but it should be doable in vanilla, yes. How exactly did you want it to play out?

Vore x amount of monsters go up a weight stage and get a buff or perk depending on how many of a certain monster you ate ie 20 minotaurs (separate from weight gain) you get 10hp or buff to attack as well as one of their unique attacks
