Nothing here, take care.
honestly that’s a really interesting premise for a game, i may check it out
nevermind its ai… shame
If you can find me an artist that is willing to draw 400+ images for about 20 bucks (which is approximately half of what I earn per one of my games in a year’s time) I would be more than willing to have an artist work on it. I only charge a buck per game. Sorry it isn’t for you, but there’s plenty of other great games on this site you can check out instead.
so to clarify, Ai art, Human Writing?
Only the images are AI, everything else is me at my writing desk as always.
totally understand, i just have my morality telling me not too as my family has artists and im an armature one myself
I bought it just after you posted on itch without realizing it was a pre-order, glad to see a thread and estimated release date. You’ve got a good track record and the premise sounds interesting, looking forward to the release!
It’s AI art yes but he writes all the dialogue himself. Take a look at his itch page it actually quite substantial, and for the work that goes into it the value is very low, like literally 1 buck. Consistent with updates too and keeping the community informed and highlighting in detail what is new in each patch. Also provides walkthroughs for the games and answer questions consistently on the thread or itch. Would be absolutely unheard of if all the art wasn’t ai
I am a professional artist myself and have really 0 issues with AI art itself, specially in cases like these ones. My issue is with the people that sell trained AI’s for profit while taking content (in this case other people’s art) without permission or compensation of any kind.
thats true, and i get the sentiment, but ai art cannot exist without the use of other peoples art, hence why that is an issue for me
I will put my final three cents into this debate, and after that delete any new comments mentioning this. Let’s keep it about the game and the writing I actually do make, instead of about the images I clearly do not slave over for hours.
$0.01 - I use a VERY general anime style for all my art. I do not tell the AI to copy any specific artist’s style. All art imitates something to some degree, and I mark the work as AI generated. As such I don’t really see an issue here.
$0.02 - I am selling a game with some images. My writing and coding skills is what I sell, not the images (even if I actually do put quite a bit of effort into getting the images up to some sort of standard too). I have some art packs with unused art and the assets from the games for those who may want them, but no-one is forced to buy neither. The art is only there to add some pretty pictures to the projects as it is expected by modern audiences, and the robots in my Blinky games are about as well as I can get art to look if I do it all by myself.
$0.03 - I think my prices are more than fair for the work I put in. I also pay for online AI art creation since my computer is not strong enough to make art by itself. I like to recuperate the costs of time and effort at least a little. If anyone disagrees with this sentiment they may simply not purchase the game. There is no need to make a big public statement about it. A game takes me weeks of work, usually in the region of several hundred hours of writing and coding to finish up.
Now, let us leave this discussion dead and buried, or make yourself a discussion board somewhere else than this game’s thread if you want to continue the discussion if people can’t let that be the end of it, I will have to find a different place to post my games in the future. We can’t keep having this same discussion every month.

Alright. I am leaving for a while. This page used to be a good place, but lately it has not been. You guys have a good one. See those of you still interested elsewhere.
His games never relied on ai art and you know it if you played at least one. They are a way of enchancing the experience, but if there was raw text, the players could generate ai art of the characters on their own.
Ai is and will be out there whether you like it or not. I see no reason to berate people for using it as the damage has already been done by the makers of said ai. It’s like saying that chat gpt harmed Shakespear because it analyzed his work and uses it to make write out prompts. Even if there is harm, it’s been done and the people using chat gpt are not at fault. I know artists don’t like it, but it’s how the world will be from now on. The fact that someone who is skilled in writing can use cheap, mass produced art, to enchance their work at least a bit is of no harm to anyone and benefits the consumers too. If you don’t like the fact that there’s ai, just don’t play the game and save your opinions for those developing those ai systems.
I have played some of his games, the writing is decent and could stand alone on its own just fine.
Scraping tens of millions of man-hours of work without compensation to make a program that puts artists out of a job is harmful to artists. Using something that’s already public domain as an example is disingenuous since it’s already been shown that they’re scraping everything, not just public domain stuff. Giving money to the companies who are still actively scraping data so that they can keep screwing over artists for a profit does in fact count as harm.
“Bad thing already exists so stop complaining about bad thing” is a dumb argument.
If your advice is to just ignore stuff you don’t like, lead by example and just ignore what I’m saying if you don’t like it.
If we wants to use AI art for HIS GAME then there should be no issues with it. He’s not stealing content he’s simply using a cost effective way to make a game. He’s selling the game for one dollar for crying out loud.
Artists can be offended that they’re not getting hired for fetish games but how about not driving away content creators away from the site just because they haven’t hired someone which may mean they can’t afford to make the game in the first place.
The site allows creators to advertise games with AI images. That should be the end of the discussion.
Using ai the way Beardo is doing is not harmful to anyone and people using it shouldn’t be berated for that. All I’m saying is that attacking Beardo is just throwing garbage at a wrong person. I understand that people are frustrated but your aim is off.
While it might be possible to make said thing not exist or not be bad, I seriously doubt that shaming and harassing random users of it, including those who are trying not to use it exploitatively, is a good way of achieving that goal.
Regardless of your stance on AI, this behavior from you, Chubberdy, is done in very poor taste, and is frankly very disappointing. I don’t care how you feel about AI - the dev politely asked for everyone to stop polluting his thread with this same tired debate, and you completely ignored it in favor of arguing a point that has been beaten to death a thousand times on this site and others because of… reasons?
What does this accomplish? What is there to say about AI that has not already been said a multitude of times? How about, instead of disparaging a passionate, independent developer’s accomplishments, we try to see the good in what they have made? Even if you have problems with what they’ve created, how about presenting it in a more positive or constructive way? As a developer yourself, you of all people should understand the painstaking effort that goes into each aspect of creating a game, regardless of if some parts of it were made using the assistance of AI.
If you really care that much about this subject, how about instead of pushing people away from our community and derailing threads with worthless arguments, you create a new forum post like Weirdobeardo originally suggested? Or, even better, take your negativity over to a more fitting site like Twitter and keep talking shit about other people’s games there.
Couldn’t agree more to be honest
