Hello, everybody. This is my submission for Gain Jam 24, Mystery Manor Prologue.
Built in Construct 3.
Mystery Manor - Prologue - Prototype by TumForce (itch.io)
I went with whodunnit as the surprise and designed an adventure game where you solve a mystery. Given the time limit, I knew I could not finish the whole story, so I aimed for the prologue. It is a foundation a full game could be built upon.
This is my first time running strings of dialogue in Construct. It was a learning experience.
Thank you for having a look. I hope you enjoy. I love feedback and any ideas you have regarding Mystery Manor.

This was so cool. Love Mysteries, the art-style is cool, has a Paper Mario/Storybook vibe to it, I like it a lot.

I don’t know who you didn’t call it ‘Mystery train’ but that was SO CUTE! Love the art and interactions between the two leads.
Was not!! A big fan of the controls, would much rather the ‘interact’ key was the usual E or F so I didn’t have to get two hands involved. Minor nitpick!

The main game would take place in a manor when I continue working on it.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll make a note of using E to interact. Maybe F to run.

A cute start to a game, I’m interested to see where it leads.
The controls are a bit odd, I’d prefer to use the mouse instead of WASD for the inspection minigame. Then to really sell the genre (though I imagine would be much harder) point and click movement would be nice. Definitely not necessary, these kind of games just feel right as point and clicks to me.

Thank you.
Fair enough about the point and click. I think I should be able to use the ‘Frida go to Gwen’ code for ‘Gwen go to click’.
