NEET RoadTrip by Sixes (itch.io)
NEET RoadTrip is a game about forcing your shut-in girlfriend to go on a vacation with you! She’s not the type to do this often, so you’ll have to work to keep her happy on the trip. Give her food, get her gifts, treat her nicely, feed her even more food. Every day you’ll experience random events on the road, meet new faces, and play minigames to make money.
I see most of the discussion is on Itch, but why not here too?
Anyway, I like the basic idea, look, and feel; my main complaint is why isn’t there more? And a couple of other things:
Dealing with the lender could use a couple fewer clicks. What if he just told you your balance without asking, and prompted you to withdraw or deposit at once? 0 is do nothing, positive is deposit, negative is withdraw.
I found the minigames stressful - fast twitch isn’t really my thing, and there’s no room to compensate with strategy.
I saw the happiness over time upgrades and beelined for them, but it turned out happiness is easy and it’s hunger you gotta watch out for, so I sold them.
There’s nothing stopping the same event from hitting twice in a day, or even twice in a row. I know you’re gonna add more, but a check to prevent repeats would be good.
As far as I can tell something funny never does happen. : (
The pixel art and descriptions are both very good. Overall, a solid first release and I’m curious where this goes!
This is a really good premise, and the girl is very cute. Sadly it was hamstrung by the minigames for me. You’ve got to play for so long to get any amount of money, and the only real risk of dying is from losing concentration. The rest of the game was too enticing to give up on however, so one quick injection from MoneyBoy Inc.
later (hacking in a ton of money) and everything else shone.
All of the random events, the little interactions, the conversations at the end of the day were charming and adorable in their own right, and I really wanted to continue the game past where the content runs out. I hope this continues to get developed and has some proper endings added, Ellie is way too cute to leave in this road trip limbo.
Also, MoneyBoy is amazing. Forfeit all mortal possessions to MoneyBoy.
