I’ve been working on this game for a little while, it’s my first time using RPG maker or anything like that and it’s been a really fun learning experience. Now without further ado, let’s get into it:
Margareth’s Mischief is an rpg maker fantasy game in development, however the second Version
(Version 0.2) is already out on my itch.io page. The game usues no AI or anything of the likes and I’m the only one working on it. It’s about a young Noblewoman called Margareth (duh) who’s easy lazy life is about to turn into an adventure that breaches the outer walls of her Family Mansion (And her dress).
The game is completely free and available for Windows and Mac/OS
Currently there’s about 30-60 minutes of Gameplay and a few weight sprites, all custom made by myself.
I plan on releasing the next Update (v.0.3) somewhere at the end of April or maybe the beginning of May, it will have quite a lot more content than what’s currently there.
Since this is my first project and it’s still very much in development, I would REALLY appreciate feedback, tipps, ideas or anything of the kind, so thanks in advance!
Here’s the Game:
Looking forward to what you guys think and have a great day!
Go in the bottom left house in the village and talk to the little girl. Then go check out the log again with Beatritz, after that look around in the house on the bottom right of the village. I should probably make that more clear story wise
If you need anything else, feel free to ask
Looking good! Obviously not much to comment on at the moment but what’s here is a good start. The biggest thing I would recommend is placing a bunch more roadblocks to keep the player in the area that you want them in. On the first day you want them to stay in the house, so add a message that turns them back if they try to go outside. On the second day you want them to stay inside the village, so add a message that turns them back if they try to leave. Keeping the player in a confined space with a clear objective minimises confusion and the chances of getting lost and forgetting what they were supposed to be doing.
Also, backtracking is really annoying. When Margareth and Beatritz encounter the log, teleport them back to the village instead of having to walk all the way back. Additionally when in the abandoned house there should be a required demonstration of Darekka pushing crates out of the way, for example there could be some crates in the entrance hall that need to be moved. It’s not immediately obvious that they can be moved so the fish crate in the kitchen looks to be inaccessible.
Bug Findings
You can read your parent’s letter infinitely, meaning infinite money
You can then use that infinite money for infinite food at the inn. I would make that feast a one time thing, or at least only once until you leave the village.
The battle victory theme plays twice, first at the end of a battle then again once you exit the battle
The mirror descriptions are all broken. Margareth only has her highest stage description even when skinny, and the other two don’t have any.
Margareth is able to equip the bronze flail. More of an oversight tbh, but as a priest it doesn’t feel right for her to have that.
This is really great advice and I’m definitely going to implement it. Thank you for also reporting bugs as I’ve only playtested it a few times because of some scheduling. The fighting and class system is still very early in its development as I haven’t really looked all too much into how all that works. However it will be conceived and properly built in version 0.3. Speaking of version 0.3, I’m going to implement all the Bugfixes and a general overhaul of the starting area in said Update. The reason it is as it currently is, is because I made the mistake on just adding the content of Version 0.2 onto 0.1 when the first version was really more of a testing stage, thusly making the continuity a little bad. I’m glad for the feedback, version 0.3 is planned for later this month or if I’m very busy sometime in May. Feel free to share some ideas for the future of the game, I’ll be sure to read them. Again I’m very grateful for the feedback, it’s much appreciated
It’s likely that you haven’t reached the second weight stage for Margareth yet. You need to have eaten in both the mansion and the Inn and slept after to reach it, then try again. It’s definitely something I should work on though with the next update
