Hey guys!
I just realized how much I still need to add to this area… The demo is going to take a little longer than I thought while I get all the pixel art finished up.

If anyone wants to volunteer their skills to help speed up the process, whether it’s detailing, environmental art, or small assets, it would be a huge help! Every bit counts toward getting the world of Occimy ready for you to explore.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to give you a quick update, I’ve been really sick lately, which is why the demo has been delayed. I’m still working on it when I can, but I don’t want to keep you all waiting too long.

So here’s my question: Would anyone be interested in trying out an alpha version of the demo in the meantime? It would be a rougher build (with bugs and unfinished art), but it might give you a sneak peek into the world of Occimy before the polished version is ready.

Let me know your thoughts, your feedback means a lot and will help me decide if I should put together an alpha build for you all! :purple_heart:

everything looks most wonderful so far, don’t sweat it about the demo being delayed! IRL comes first, and its better to delay something than rush it out. I’m sure it will be a most lovely game regardless of when you drop the demo!

Hello everyone! I’m Mr C, Lily’s boyfriend, so, first let me introduce myself. I’m a game dev and have been making games for about 4 or so years, idk, at this point the years blend together. I make adult games and I have helped Lily with her game several times, including pixel art as well as code. Today while trying to fix an issue in the game with text boxes the entire game broke irreversibly. She can’t recover it and there is no way to recover it, however, there is good news; She can still get a patched work demo together for release. This is where my experience comes in. We talked about it and I explained that the core code of the game, which led to this issue, needs to be removed and reworked. In essence the game needs to be remade from the ground up or else this could happen with every new room, object or function added. Fun fact, the game was only partially coded by Lily, the rest of it was coded by a "professional programer” who probably wouldn’t know the difference between a boolean and an array. Anyways, the code they made is utter garbage and barely works or it’s coded in the most inefficient manner.

So, what’s the plan after the demo? I’m going to recode the game from the ground up, we’re going to comb through every line of code from the old game, figure out how it works, see if it’s well written or not, and then either reuse it or I’ll rewrite it. The idea here is to make a game foundation that copes well with new additions and is easy to fix. In simple terms we’re seeing which parts of the game break before others do and then reinforcing or remaking them stronger and better. We will also be implementing a github, something that should have been done a long time ago, so that if the game is ever deleted, broken beyond repair or some other bullshit because apparently it’s hard to make a native version reverse in game maker, we can just go back to an older version without having to recode everything.

Anyways, Lily is really upset by this as months of work will be lost and the development will be pushed back months. I hope you guys understand the predicament she’s in and how sorry she is. She cried for quite a while after it happened, so please, try to understand. Also, apologize for any delays or anything else in the future. Game maker is not my main programming language, it’s sugar-cube, aka Java script and HTML if they had an unholy love child. I look forward to being your new main programer for Occimy.
