where exactly should i place the devotee fixes file into the game to get it to work or is it supposed to placed in a different area entirely
I’ll post the zip file here as well,
But when you do get it
- Unzip the file
- Navigate in it till you find the 3 .JSON files.
- Copy those and go to where you have the game files.
- Open the www folder and then the data folder.
- Paste them over the originals.
If you haven’t done the event yet, things will work fine with no worries.
If you have, there’s a guy on the ground (looks like he’s passed out) talk to him once, he’ll set the collision back to normal then disappear.
Note: make sure you aren’t in a wall when you talk to him.
Sorry, been working on the gain jam, and forgot to post the fixes here.
DevoteeFixes.zip (67.3 KB)
Where is the Guy on the ground located? Ive been trying to find him for a while now. Great game btw
When you enter the forest, just head to the left a little and you’ll see him. He’s in a corner.
So I am reading the guide and I notice:
⦁ Ensure you complete the Farm Thief quest as early as possible in order to start the chain for Isabelle’s events.
and
(Check Further in the Guide as to what this leads to)
Now I beat 0.81 but I doubt I 100%'d it, so I’m wondering uh, why is the farm thief quest so important? what was going to be written in the guide about it?
pretty sure it was related to triggers where the game just does not give some stuff if you dont have that triggers done but do the others, but I may be mistaken lol
I mean, it takes quite a number of days to reach full completion from the moment you start and impacts the ending. I’d say that’s pretty important
I am playing 0.93 and I did the farm thief quest, yet the guards in the guard hall think I’m completing this quest every day forever.
edit: If I don’t talk to the rank1 guard, then I guess this is not a huge issue, but still this was a bug in 0.81 that seems unfixed maybe? not sure if I did something to trigger it? (like maybe I went to bed before handing in the quest in first place?)
edit2: Nope, no matter what i do after I defeat isabella the quest counts as being able to be handed in every single day forever, just like in 0.81.
Trying to find the slime pellets, but I cannot find them. The slimes don’t seem to drop them, nor can I find them near a pond in the first forest area like an earlier comment said, and I checked all of the bodies of water in that area, trying to interact with anything, but nothing aside from the chest, fishing spot, and sign with one of the machine codes.
It’s very easy to find but you have to talk to the breeder first or they won’t exist anywhere at all. (I found mine next to the pond slightly west of the start).
okay so yeah, I can’t for example get credit for completing the quest to find the slime pellet because whenever I try to hand in a rank1 quest I talk to the rank1 guy and he think I just completed the isabella quest, so, if you don’t do that rank1 quest last it messes up your run… and unfortunately my save is right before the isabella fight (and another one 2or3 days later) so I’ll have to restart this run? (unless something in the debug room could help? looks like not currently but maybe in a future build you could add the ability to undo quests to prevent flaws like this from being harmful?)
Mmm, I fixed it up, changed it, and it still broke.
Might re-do the guard hall for the 5th time….
It’s funny how it broke when I haven’t touched it since 0.6
Coding seems to work like that. Change something over there, and it breaks something that shouldn’t be connected and yet somehow is.
So Isabelle is meant to be the primary antagonist for a little for bit, then a potential ally / city member.
Not doing her quest will display the original endings I wrote when I first made the game. However, if things play nice, it’ll boot you back to the lab afterwards and you can do it all again.
Yeah they are wankers they won’t work how their told to.
If you don’t talk to the Slime Breeder about them first, they do not appear. When you do talk to him, they’ll be near the pond and highlighted by stars.
Ain’t that the truth.
So, as much as I didn’t want to. most likely I will re-do the guard hall using Yanfly’s quest book plugin. That should fix a bunch of the issues since that handles most of the nitty gritty’s. It’ll probably come out with the next update, since I’m currently juggling too many things at once
If you do the farm thief once, it should be fine afterwards to continue the game, although the guard hall will be borked.
Okay in my playthrough of this game I encountered some bugs, now there is a big chance that these bugs were already brought up by others but still I feel like they should have been fixed already if that’s the case.
Maybe they are, I may have put the Devotee patch’s .json files into the wrong directory but still, I don’t know if the patch fixes these things and I feel like the patch should be part of the main download anyways so yeah.
Anyways the biggest bug I encountered was how after a certain day (the 10th maybe later or earlier) when you try to the forset, a burp sound effect is played and you walked the right endlessly, you can’t even open your menu to go back to the title screen.
This seems to happen no matter what to the point of it happening if you never even enter the forest on a playthrough.
Note: btw I was playing on normal mode if that means anything.
Now there are some other bugs/just weird things I noticed while playing like how characters you ate can show up again even if they’re supposed to be dead, a good example of this is Eloise with her being able to show back up at the main lab when you wake up or contest hall. (Which is where most of these sudden revivals show up at)
I feel like it would be interesting if you made them ghosts with some extra flavor text and it would make sense in-universe because this is a fantasy RPG after all.
Another big problem I ran into was how progression can be stopped in the contest hall if you finished Anna’s questline (and also got rid of her husband afterwards), there was nothing I could do to unlock her because she would just keep repeating the same line about hoping her husband will come back over and over again.
And I either ate everyone in a place like in the Guard Hall or if I was meant to do something in the forset then I couldn’t do it, I feel like there shouldn’t be any softlock for this that’s all.
Side note: I feel like you should be able to enter places like the already mentioned Guard Hall or like the back of Slime Breeder Joe even if you ate them.
In Slime Breeder Joe case, it would be just to kill some slimes and that’s it but with something like the Guard Hall it would be cool if you were able to break into it if you have enough strength (or maybe with some kind of equipment thing) to look around and maybe find something/someone that wasn’t there before.
And for the final big thing I want to bring up is how the location text that appears when entering a new area on the left where it’s covered by the fullness and weight meter, I feel like it should be in the middle so you can actually see it.
Now there are some smaller things I ran into or just didn’t like, like how the slimes don’t have unique colored sprites, Lucia still having an invisible bra strap for her skinniest form.
How the security dude that shows up if you try to eat everyone in the casino (after the “rigged game” event) has no collision and finally how some of the characters on the casino repeat the same dialogue even after the said “rigged game” event.
Also, shop keeper boss fight where if you win against him you get some good reward (possibly from his shop.)
But that’s all I have to say, I really like this game and I hope to see it getting more updates in the future.
That burp bug is fixed by the Devotee patch. Get the JSON files and put them in the data folder. When you open the directory (where the game files are) go to the www folder and then data. Paste the files in there and overrite the originals.
That’s just normal across a lot of events. That will be throughout the next few updates where I start “cleaning up” random stuff like that. It’s weird but thankfully not gamebreaking just yet.
Which line in particular? Anna shouldn’t be available in the contest hall until you do one of her quest routes. If its the one where you need to find monsters for her in the forest, installing the devotee patch will fix it.
It’s much easier to post a fix thats only a few hundred kb rather than re-upload the game.
The guard hall will re-open in a few days when you eat people in there.
As mentioned above, the guard hall does reopen, you just need to wait a few days. The slime breeder I’ll add in future.
Hmm, that’s an interesting idea. Might add that in various places in futurre.
That’s just where RPG Maker puts it. I’ll see if I can move it, but not sure if I can.
Re-colouring the slimes was a pain and honestly, I tried, but they looked awful. So I reverted them back to blue. I looked at Lucia’s sprite. I don’t see the bra strap?
That’s just so he doesn’t get stuck and softlock. and the reason they repeat is technically cause they are “new” people.
That’s a cool idea. Or he does stuff for you.
I’m glad you like it, there are many bugs but it’s getting to the point thankfully where a lot of them are minor… except for the stupid Guard Hall quests…
Huh, I put it into “www” but it doesn’t seem to work, I’m guessing it’s because I’m using a old save so I’ll make a new one and hopefully it works.
Either way thanks for the help, man.
Well, I’ve seen some other RPG maker games move it into the middle so it’s possible but I don’t know how hard it is to code in, so yeah.
I meant her portrait icon, I was going to clarify that but forgot to so my bad.
Btw on that note, I hope next update you try to make all the portraits consistent with what size you are.
It’s a noticeable little thing but it becomes even more noticeable in the broken house.
Small side note: for the walking animation of the size in the screenshot you can see small lines above her head for a second, not too sure if this happens to other sizes but wanted to bring it either way. (Even if it’s ironically a very little thing)
needs to be in the data folder of www. not just the www folder.
I’ll look into it. Cause i agree 100%, would love to move it.
I tried it and it fixed the cutscene but for some reasons it creates a whole another problem where it removes collision on everything and you can walk through walls/etc.
This happens if you choose to either eat her or bring her back to town, leaving both of the respective places isn’t a viable fix as it carries over to other areas as well.
Again I feel like this probably has been already brought up to you but still.
