RJS's Untitled Merge and Feed Game (prototype)

Hey everyone, I already introduced you to GutBuster, but I feel like I should make a thread to my earlier project. I haven’t come up with a title for it. It’s a lot more of a casual game than GutBuster, it’s basically a merging game, like the ones you see on mobile. You match food together and feed it to The Queen, according to her requests. She gets fatter and more demanding the more it goes on. This is just a prototype I made in Construct 2, and I plan to port the real game to Godot, but I plan to finish GutBuster first so it’s on the backburner for now. I plan for the full version to have multiple types of food and characters to feed, plus other options.

But you can play this prototype now, directly in your browser. The browser version is even playable on your phone or iOS/Android device (but with some issues regarding the text), but it can also be downloaded for Windows, Apple OS or Linux.

The game itself is still rough, and the art is unfinished. You use the mouse/touchscreen to play. Cheats are automatically enabled, using the keys. (Up = advance a level, Crtl resets the Queen’s request, and Shift summons food, bypassing the cooldown–this can cause glitches to use it carefully)

Go play it on my itch.io page!

Why do you even need a cooldown?

I like the game, but clicking the sugar bowl to get a random item starts to get tedious after a while, especially with the cooldown. I’m thinking that a better gameloop might be to have a random item just spawn every few seconds on an empty plate and have the player lose if there isn’t an empty plate for the food to go to, forcing them to match pairs together and feed the bee faster than it takes for new food to appear.

Yeah, this is a proof-of-concept to see what I was capable of making. I admit I didn’t really go into it with as clear of a vision as I did GutBuster. When, or if, I decide to continue this project I somehow think it will be quite a bit different.
