Showing off my custom fat Minecraft character model

I’ve been working on my own custom Minecraft character model recently and thought I’d show off some of the features I’ve added so far and see what people think!

I’ve been trying to make the character feel a bit more alive rather than just making him bigger, so I’ve been experimenting with animations and features that change depending on what he’s doing or the time of day.

Night-time horns and glowing eyes

Minecraft_1

At night, his horns gradually emerge and his eyes start glowing. The eyes also follow where I’m looking, which I’m really happy with because it makes his night-time form feel quite a bit different from how he looks during the day.

The horns retract again when daytime comes around.

Belly bounce

I also added some movement to his belly when jumping.

Rather than the belly staying completely rigid with the rest of the model, it bounces up and down when he lands. I wanted it to actually feel like there was some weight to him instead of the character just being a larger static model.

Bigger version + stronger belly bounce

Minecraft_3

And this is the larger version of the character.

I made his body noticeably wider and fatter, especially around the belly, and increased the belly movement quite a bit to match his larger size.

The bounce is intentionally more exaggerated on this version, since I wanted the animation to become more noticeable as the character gets bigger.

I’m still experimenting with the model and animations, so I’d definitely be interested to hear what people think.

I’d especially like to know which body size people prefer, whether the belly bounce looks natural enough, and if there are any other animations or weight-related details you think would suit him.

I’ve got a few more ideas I want to experiment with too, so this probably won’t be the last version of him. :slightly_smiling_face:
