I loved how you did the final scenes, I feel like they turned out really well and I like that everyone interacts in them and not just the character that you ended the game with.
Eyy, congrats on the full release! Love to see it. Canāt wait to play from start to finish!
There are just a couple things I seem to be having trouble with:
- Each time one leaves the cave, regardless of character, regardless of whether or not one switched characters, structures behave as though they are not connected to adjacent preexisting power sources UNTIL a power source is built/destroyed adjacent to the aforementioned structure or power source (e.g., Auto-Miner Mk. I, Laser Turret Mk. I, Research Table, Solar Panel Mk. I/II, Wind Turbine Mk. I/II).
- Crystals can not be mined by Auto-Miners, regardless of the amount of power supplied to the structure ā this problem is actually a holdover from a prior build, as I recall it happening the last time I played, too, on V0.10.2. No one else seemed to have the the sudden problem back then, and I was able to get by with Daxās drone, but with the warranted nerfing of drone mining speeds, I canāt really cheese my way past this bug anymore.
The above problems occurred on both the carried-over save file as well as the 2 new save files I created in order to ascertain the consistency of the above problems. Tbh, if removing all save data and reinstalling would do the trick, I would do it in a heartbeat, though the data file must come from somewhere else since it seems to keep coming back like a bad penny every time the zip file is extracted.
Any solutions would be super appreciated!
Okay, finally figured out why I couldnāt recreate the character swapping bug. Apparently itās a bug that does not happen when running the game out of gamemaker, and even more curiously any save file thatās been played from gamemaker instead of the separate .exe at any point will also not have the bug. Iām not sure whatās causing it yet, but itās going to take a bit longer to debug since I have to compile it every time and start a fresh file to test if itās fixed, plus I canāt use gamemakerās debug tools which sucks.
As for the crystal mining issue, Iām completely unable to replicate that. Is it happening even after you research the ability to mine crystals?
Ahā Thatās embarrassing. Looks like researching the Crystal Mining upgrade was all I needed. My bad! I knew I should have pressed on a little bit more, sorry about that. Not sure if itās because of how quickly the game tends to progress, but I totally forgot about that upgrade being necessary for obtaining crystals.
Huh. Well, shoot. And itās not exactly a bug that can be handled with any ease or convenience as the amount of structures grows, especially I need to essentially reset them all every time I leave the cave. Would playing the game from gamemaker be the right way to go for me, then?
Congratulations on the release!
I think itās the first time Iāve finished the cave. Those lower cave slimes are meanā¦
I intermittently got the disconnected power on cave exit bug too, but it seemed to be able to be restored by saving the game, quitting to the main menu and loading the save.
Eyy, looks like that works for me, too, and seems to have fixed the Crystal Mining issue as well. And looks like my memory was rightāIāve never actually needed to research Crystal mining in order to allow the Auto-Miner to harvest crystals: itās always been able to harvest them from the get-go.
This should resolve the connection issue, I tested it on another computer as well to bypass the testing issue.
Quick question: is getting back to the ship the ending? 'Cause honestly I thought that was more of like a mini end goal. like āokay, we crash-landed without supplies; we need to get into contact with the rest of the crew and move from there,ā instead of being the actual end of the game
If that wasnāt the ending, what else could happen now?
I think that hypothetical question would be more for a third game, Like to get off the planet maybe it will take a long time to repair the ship or the ship is perfect and there are no more problems and now all that remains is to do the research for which they came in the first place.
I think that what happened next is better that for the moment it remains a mystery.
Yeah thatās the end of the game, I wanted this one to follow a similar structure to the first while expanding on the systems while leaving things open ended enough to have something to work with in the future.
Oh cool update from the changelogs, Iām still sorry from that time, Iāll try them when I have a spare time
True, though if anything, I think this series would fit Colony Sim quite well.
It would be very funny if spacethumper even get a spin-off in the future :3
So after trying the update, everything seems great actually, just need to used to it though. Nonetheless the spritesheet there is interesting that it got added
Come to think of it, I had to put this here too lol
So I made some models (CPM) of Pilot and Tauma for minecraft, They are not a big deal nor do they have almost any animation, but since I put it on other sites why not put it here too :3
Link to the models: Spacethumper Minecraft Models - Google Drive
Also these models are old so maybe in the future I will make some new models that do have more animations and also finally make Dax (It is difficult for me to find how to make Dax in 3D look well lol)
could vsync be implemented? Iām getting some screen tearing.
Also, I donāt know if itās just me, but the wind turbines donāt seem to have their output fluctuating anymore. At least with the mk. 2s
Seems easy enough to do in gamemaker, Iāll roll that into the next build.
I changed it from fluctuating over time to giving more energy the farther away from the ground they are.
Thank you for the prompt answer!
Just found another bug: The turret noise keeps playing if you enter and then leave the cave while theyāre firing
