Depending on where you are, you will either need to head to Alefston (which is to the west of the northern exit to the Barren Wastes) and complete the main plot there, or, after heading past the bridge north (which is repaired after completing the arc with Valeria), you can follow the road northwest to Altheim, where you’re told to head to a ruin out the western exit from Altheim.

Can someone give me a hand? I’ve already spent 30 minutes on this and don’t

know what to do; I’ve gone down both paths, but I just keep fighting those monsters over and over again.

The puzzle is a series of checkpoints, and you’re given a hint in town with two poems. If you don’t want to decipher them:

Left Left Right Left Left Right Left

Right Right Left Left Right Right Right

Both of those paths lead to an item, and the exit. And the exit will send you back to the start, so you can get the other item.

Does anyone know where else I have to go after the island mission where the demon is?

Once you get to the boat, that’s the end of the demo - any sidequests you need to finish or other small islands to explore are free to check out, including the island mission.
