Terraria Weight Gain Mod

If there’s an option that doesn’t give you any additional effects other than just visual effects, that would be fine. (Sorry if there’s already one!)

There is! It’s called DisableBuffs
Disables both positive and negative buffs

Really awesome work, guys! That “UV Armor” feature is genius. It both looks great and eliminates an untold amount of spriting overhead. I made a test character/world with your team’s mod and have enjoyed it, the new items, and features plenty.

Out of curiosity, would it be in the cards to develop enhanced compatibility with Mr. Plague’s Authentic Races (or other race mods)? The two mods do work together, but I’ve noticed two things:

  • Hair disappears past the “Overweight” stage
  • The belly overlay properly takes the color from the character’s skin, but does not adapt details from the chest (like the Soulbeast’s bone patterns or the Dragonkin’s neck/underbelly scales). Could your UV Armor feature also apply to just the player’s body?

No worries if that’s out of scope, just thought it would be cool. Also, though spriting is not my major forte, I did work on a Starpounds fat sprites project that didn’t really see the light of day. I made a ton of male/female sprites for a modded race, and I’m interested in hearing more details regarding your weight stage re-sprite work.

Thanks again.

Hello! Thank you for the feedback!!
Over at the mod’s discord these issues have been pointed out, more specifically the hair disappearing issue.
We’ve theorized that this is most likely due to the arm sprites as those get replaced starting with that particular weight stage.

It really depends on how those mods implement their extra player details.
We would have to do some research for it to be compatible.

Right now we’re waiting for some new, better sprites to be done before implementing something similar to UV Armor for the arms.

I plead for your patience! :3

Edit: I did some testing and it is, in fact, due to the arms that get replaced.

Of course! Thanks again for putting in the work on this project. Good luck on the new sprites and on the fixes/future features!

Update: It seems the hair issue has been resolved :3 We switched the method for drawing the arms
Also after doing some research I came to the conclusion that applying uv armor to the body would be too hard for now. We’d have to add a certain dependency on the mod.

Hi! This mod is simply amazing! But I have some questions. Will there be new enemies that will fatten the player up? Or will there be NPCs selling food or weight-related items?

We will be making fattening enemies soon, it’s on the list of things to do soon tm

A new sprite set system has been made

You can now try out switching between the original sprites and the sprites dummy made by updating to the latest version

How to try it out

To do so you must go to the mod’s client configuration at Workshop > Manage Mods > Mod Configuration > Weight Gain > Wg Client Config

Notes

The way this works currently is like a minecraft Texture Pack, it applies only to you and every player will have that same Sprite Set visually

Is there gonna be support for some of the Authentic races mod are some of the other mods? I think having sprites for the eevee race would be adorable

The mod works fine with it though it only uses the player’s skin color (so no special body patterns)
Direct support is not planned
I’d say for things like this people would make their own Sprite Sets (anyone can make these)
same applies for having different body shapes, everything visual in general

Apologies if you’ve said already, but will there be any kind of blueberry inflation passive gain curse/effect type stuff? Im super into that, and i was curious if it was on the table or not~

Either way, so far from what i have been able to read this looks really awesome!

If you refer to status effects there’s already many of them! Some enemies inflict a Force Fed debuff that makes you gain some weight over time. As for blueberry inflation specifically I honestly have no idea if that’s ever gonna be in

I think someone asked for something similar on the discord a while ago and someone replied to that, lemme see…

It was the first message on the mod feedback channel, not sure if this still stands

i shall say as silver did, Fair enough! lol

all the same, lookin forward to this mod gettin an official release, yall keep up the good work! <3

I have a question! Will it be purely weight gain, or will there be inflation aspects as well? ^^ Once the weight gain stuff is down of course!! ^^

No idea! We’ll get there when we get there
Technically anyone can contribute code, no need to be part of the team but so far that hasn’t happened yet
But anyone could just implement inflation stuff if they really wanted
Though I’m not sure how inflation and other things like that would even work specially regarding sprites since we already require so many

(sorry for the late reply we’ve been taking a break)

Keeps saying that the pack is Malformed and can’t be loaded.

The install instructions don’t seem to work the same way for me as they did for Sushi as there is no “Open sources” button.

Just having a small question, out of curiosity, are you planning to add some sounds to the mod?

I’m really enjoying it, but personally I think some sounds would be nice

This is not a regular terraria pack, you need tModLoader

We have some sounds currently :3
Though audio in general is not a priority right now
