The Crawling Dungeon

Now introducing the first version of the crawling dungeon

Dungeon crawling is a rough living, and as a party strategist it falls on to you to keep your party members well fed so they have the energy to tackle the tasks ahead. But, maybe… you feed them more than they need to eat? Mayhaps?

Hi, I’m PixiePudge, and this is a game I’ve been working on for a while. It’s a rpg style dungeon crawler all about reaching deep into a dungeon whilst you feed girls to make them fat. You can also progress your relationship with the girls persona style to get a higher relationship tier. Currently the first 10 floors of the dungeon are implemented and the first 3 girls have their first two relationship scenes out of a possible 4 done.

I expect there to be a million bugs in this game, and I hope to address a good chunk of those as people find them. The dungeon is intended to be like 60 - 70 floors in the end once I actually finish the game but that’s a long way off seeing as I took over a year to get this version out (though it was not continuous progress over that year at all). I suggest feeding your friends and bringing them along with you into the dungeon and talking to them to progress your relationship with them for now.

If any questions pop up just ask away and I’ll do my best to answer them.

The zip file has an EXE file in it, you can sort by type to find it.

Update 19/4/2026

So turns out that last version was bugged to high hell, I’ve addressed the major bugs, which were preventing you from progressing relationships and allowing you to one shot enemies at level six.

Any images you can provide, so folks know what they’re getting into?

I tried installing it and was met with this bug repeatedly. It was a lot of MP3 files and imports not within folders.

Also, I’m running into another issue, whenever you talk to somebody once you’re given control to move around. The game freezes.

This is just an issue with some of the file path names being too long. It’ll happen if you extract the games files within a few layers of folders. Try and re-extract the game in somewhere like your downloads folder and see what happens. That worked for me at least.

Yeah that file is a leftover from before I’d made my own music that I forgot to delete from the folder, you can just skip it

Like fully freezes? or in a way where you can’t move around any more? Cuz it’ll lock you in place for a conversation, but if it is stopping you from progressing the dialogue with space bar then yeah something is wrong.

I have a lot of bugs to fix, so once I upload the bug fixed version of the game I’ll be sure to include some images in the post. It might take a while to fix all of this tho

Playing the latest version with bug fixes, I have to say this is a nice start!

I know you made all the music, art, and programming yourself which is very impressive!

Being a dietician tactician for your party is very amusing and I think is a good way to incorporate WG fetish with dungeon crawling. I look forward to making the starting trio bigger, as well as future party members…

Bugs I’ve noticed still:

  1. If you mash space bar on a dialogue that has a choice I think the game can softlock sometimes, for example this happened to me for Axia’s first town dialogue.
  2. The first time I got to Floor 5 I teleported back to town and then if I went back to Floor 5 I couldn’t use the staircase to advance to Floor 6, this happened in my first playthrough as well. If I reload my game I can use the Floor 5 staircase, so I don’t know why it’s not working until I reload.

Things I recommend:

  1. Maybe have chests in the dungeon contain food? That way if you’re running low you can get food without needing to leave. Or at the very least, maybe our main character can cook meals for our party on “safe floors”?
  2. A faster way to sell all. If I wanted to sell 10 potions or 10 weapons I collected that I don’t want I need to open the menu each time which is clunky.

I haven’t done any relationship scenes yet, but they appear to be working now so I will try that next.

Oh! thank you so much For the kind words! I will definitely look into the bugs you’ve mentioned once I start working on the next update, and will consider implementing those changes you suggested, they seem like obvious quality of life changes to be added. Specifically I had been considering a filling potion to keep the gals fed in the dungeon, since any food in dungeon chests would spoil, ya feel?

Also once the gals are ready for a relationship advance they’ll get an exclaimation point above their heads. Make sure to talk to them each day and feed them lots to get to the relationship scenes! Theres 2 scenes for each gal in this update and one artwork as well for each gal!

Could you put a warning before fighting a boss? I got softlocked because I accidentally activated the first one before resting and lost.
Also, dungeon elements like stairs or resting characters sometimes follow you to the next floor. They lose their function, but they keep their floor coordinate, hit box, and text boxes if they have any.

Besides the 2 main gripes, if possible, could you make it so the mouse can progress dialogue? It just feels odd to press space for the text boxes when the choice wheel uses the mouse.

Good point on these all! They’re going on my list for the next update.

Some feedback after playing for a bit:

Saving with the default save name didn’t recognize the file when I tried to load, the default save file name wasn’t in the load options. I restarted and saved with the default name on a new game and then I could load the default savefile. Strange, I don’t know what happened there. EDIT: I think saving doesn’t work when inside the dungeon. There should be some feedback that saving is disabled or something, I’ve had to start over 3 times after getting to level 9/10 on my first run.

If you party wipe you get softlocked where the enemies keep taking turns and your characters can’t. An emergency return bell or game over screen would be a graceful way of handling this. (warning to future players, save often and don’t push your luck. Saving in the dungeon doesn’t seem to work, so leave before saving. Retreat in battle if things are looking bad to avoid softlocking)

Finding the effects associated with attacks is a bit clunky with the kim possible button (nice touch though). Icons associated with the effects near the sprite who’s affected could help figure out what’s happening at a glance?

Some effect names aren’t descriptive enough to know what they are, like the enemy attack stomach curse gives “famished” which has duration 3 and daily associated with it. I don’t know what this means mechanically though.

Having items show their effects on use outside of combat, or have their description show in the inventory menu would be a nice add.

A fullscreen option/being able to resize the game window would be nice. I’m not certain exactly how this works in godot but I think you’d wanna enable the image to stretch (if you manually set the game to launch maximized via shortcut options the image is still the ~720p resolution size and the rest of the window is empty space). For players who want the game to take up more screenspace in the meantime, a workaround is to change the resolution of your screen to 1024x720 or 1366x768.

It seems like after the first time you reach level 5 and tell the orc lady about the cupcakes, you can no longer use the stairs to descend past level 5 the next time you get there.

I’ve had to restart a few times due to not being able to load/soft locking on defeat, but it seems like a pretty interesting game so far. Props.

There doesn’t seem to be an actual battle failure state. All my party members got knocked in the 10th floor slime fight (I wasn’t quite expecting to need to restock on supplies, since it mentioned every 5 floors is a safe room). It just looped the slime boss’s attack repeatedly until I had to close the game. It was my first run, so I had not saved. I’m not sure if defeats take you back to the surface or result in a game over but, if it’s the latter, it’d be great to have a better way of gauging fight difficulty as I had encountered no real resistance up until that point. Also the traps (atm) seem to have no real purpose. Traps (at least in my D&D brain) are meant to exhaust party resources to balance other encounters. The traps are easily disarmed (assuming one isn’t on complete autopilot) and the onces I intentionally walked into did not deal much damage. I would recommend set trap placement configurations rather than completely randomly generated standalone traps. For example, maybe set is such that a trap spawns with a corridor and a chest behind it. Apologies that I don’t have many great ideas for this off the top of my head. But at the moment, traps could be removed from the game and nothing would fundamentally change in terms of the gameplay loop. I would also recommend that disarming traps require a resource (or at the very least a key item). I hope that this feedback is helpful in the development of your game. I hoped to give a better balance of criticism and praise, but I didn’t see most of the game as I lost motivation after the softlock. It wasn’t much progress and I’ll probably come back to it later, but softlocks are always a strong momentum killer. Especially when your last save was before a tutorial or intro segment.

Oh, that also reminds me. It’d be great if pressing spacebar while dialogue is scrolling made it all appear on screen at once instead of skipping it.

so lets address something having to search the exe file that’s going to have to change because if I had decided not have come back here and read the you need to search exe in the file I would have never found it and I’m sure that there’s some people who have looked and download without reading and will think oh so there’s no game to click on.

also forgot to mention a bug every time i go to interact with combat it freezes and does nothing and i have to close the game. i know it also sounds discouraging with all the bugs but keep at it looks like a good game.

Oh man, yeah I’ll def have to check all these out before the next update. The whole saving in the dungeon is supposed to work but presumably a lot of things broke inbetween fixing other bugs.

As for losing boss battles I suppose I should give a propper game over notification, yeah thats fair.

I’ve started work on the next episode, extremely early stages though, but I’ll def try my best to address all of these bugs before the next episodes release.

Sounds awesome! While I was sharing a lot of feedback on bugs/nice-to-have features, I wanna emphasize this game is really cool, and the unique style makes me think you’ve put a lot of time and effort into making the systems behind the game. Super cool to have you here.

My bug testing wasn’t super thorough so I’m not entirely certain what causes the save not working bug, my hunch is being inside the dungeon - I don’t think I’ve had a save register correctly there.

A couple more things I wanted to point out: If multiple enemies on the dungeon map make contact with you at the same time to engage you in combat, upon finishing the first fight, the player gets stuck in a loop of notifications about the fight being over. I’m fairly certain the trigger is multiple enemies contacting the party at the same/very close times.

Sometimes dialogue when speaking to characters in town (I think I was speaking to the warrior party member) gets stuck. It seemed to happen when I was trying to advance the dialogue rapidly. Not as certain about the trigger for this one.

Thanks very much! I’ll look into all of these before the next update!
