The Future of Weight Gaming

I wasn’t going to post at first, I did take a while to read a lot of this and other recent posts I had somehow missed. I’m sorry things have gotten to this state, that’s not a burden anyone should bear; I feel like this is the first I’m hearing about many of these troubles (AI debate aside). So, I figured it best to just share some of my own story and experience with this fetish sanctuary.

I’ve seen and meandered between a number of communities in my day: the Breast Expansion Archive, Fat Forums, and Dimensions. The former of those two have disappeared into the ether, and the later I feel is a shell of what it once was (but at least technically is still around).

I found Weight Gaming over two years ago, created an account, and it’s been a wonderful place to engage with other like minded folks. That said, I’m pretty much here only for the projects section. I enjoy finding new games, seeing what developers are working on, getting updates to large ones in development, providing feedback, and seeing what and how others are enjoying in those projects. I still hope to do more on my own projects one day, in hopes of posting here, inspired by the activity and community I’ve engaged with here. I certainly wouldn’t have joined the Get Large Jam otherwise.

In my mind, my experience has been generally positive as a user, and I’ve not seen a lot of drama bubble up to the surface that has been shed light on in some of these posts. The most heated debate I’ve seen is around AI, and it still seems like a vocal minority compared to what you said has been shown by the data (and the drama around it being the source of the drama vs. the topic itself - I’m tired of it still being a debate too). I think projects should be clearly labeled as such, and then its up to users to decide if they care or want to filter them out. (As you said in your post, turning them away doesn’t help the problem or educate anyone; it doesn’t give them that signal if people ignore them compared to other projects if they can’t have a listing. You’ve posted your thoughts and decisions, that should be it, case closed. Any further discussion should be on those specific topics not elsewhere, but people need to stop harassing you about it. :frowning: That’s certainly not fair to you.)

I appreciate the care and effort you’ve been doing in responding to the community; you’ve been doing a great job. But I hope you realize there’s more people here to support you, as seen above, and that you don’t have to do everything alone. Certainly not at the expense of your health and well-being.

This old-school forum format has a unique draw. I can dig into new realms or stay comfortable with what I want to track. Discord just drowns everything out, it’s much harder to stay atop specific topics and hell just leave a tab open on a project or bookmark something. I’ve tried looking at the wiki, but it’s not the same as organically getting updates from projects I love or discovering the trickle of new content as a new project post comes into existence… I see my engagement with these two different formats of social content vary drastically. I don’t see its substantial draw over just searching itch by tags.

I hope, as it seems there is, that there can be support to keep this community going, maybe not just as a burden to you, as a single individual, but as a collaboration between many individuals. It’d be sad to see yet another place I call home disappear. But I am pretty sure if the Projects forum goes away, I won’t have a draw to engage here.
