«The Story Of Rose» — A New Generation Weight Gain Game

Yeah okay this is a bot

I think I didn’t express myself clearly. Everyone has their own creative approach, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I respect a lot of the creators here, in fact, many of them have inspired me along the way.

My point wasn’t to discredit others, but to explain why I chose a different path. I try to keep what I genuinely like and what I feel works for the experience I want to build, and leave out everything else. That’s why I mentioned building my own engine, not to sound superior, but to highlight that it reflects the kind of control and flexibility I need for my vision.

As for the «startup pitch» vibe I mean, if I spent more than five minutes formatting a post, does that automatically mean I’m looking for investors? I’m just passionate about what I do and trying to present it properly. That doesn’t mean I think anyone else’s work is lesser.

At present, my own issue with the way this project is being presented, is that while the language itself is at a surface level well-worded, it lacks any depth as to what exactly the game is or how it works. Is it a visual novel with branching choices? Is it a more interactive format with direct player input outside of choice branches?

I understand the general business strategy at play here, but I believe that it is not the correct approach for garnering the interest you aim to gain. Using basic marketing tactics like creating interest through vague public statements with an arbitrary number goal, increasing subscription minimums without announcement at a rate of 4.99 to 9.99 (as opposed to 5 or 10 dollars, which is clearly done in order to generate an artificial sense of a ‘bargain’), and speaking with a professional but hollow tone is not going to generate public support.

I give people the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, but you can’t blame people in a largely insular and indie community for being suspicious of someone with such an odd veneer of business professionalism and tactics. If it truly is just a misguided attempt at showing how serious you take the project, then I understand completely. If so, all that you’d need to do is make that clear to people, and make an attempt at being more personable.

A little bit goes a long way, and I hope this project can too.

So are you like an actual sociopath or something you insane weirdo? You can’t just steal pictures of women online and make porn of them.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, it’s really helpful. I think you’re right, I overdid it in places with the presentation and everything came out too polished, as if I were not an indie developer, but a marketer. The thing is, I take what I do seriously, and I try to express it in a way that I would like to see it from the player’s side.

Basically, yes, it is a visual novel, mostly linear, but with choice and several branches. The main focus is on atmosphere and immersion, and not on gameplay variability. I wanted to make it so that the player really feels how the story develops, and not just clicks on lines.

The fact that it turned out too businesslike, yes, I agree. This is not an attempt to convince everyone that the project, a startup with investors, is just me doing everything alone and wanted it to look serious. But I understand that in such an environment it can be perceived, to put it mildly, strange. I will take this into account and try to be simpler and more honest in the following posts.

Really thank you for writing, such comments help to understand what works and what does not.

Best regards, gojicks

In what world is taking a random woman’s instagram photos and putting them into your weird porn game considered normal behavior? Also they way you’ve been acting in here is weird as fuck and this entire thing reeks of shady shit.

To be honest, your avatar and comment made me laugh a lot xDDD

Okay, let’s start with the fact that the answer to your question is contained in the disclaimer of the game. Or do you think that creating an analogy of Tinder is something weird?

As for the main character, she is a model and negotiations are in the active stage, this has already been written above.

This here is definitely a piece of information I would say is integral to add to your forum post as a general disclaimer. Given Grimimics’ response I can imagine that people may be unaware of the arrangement you have with the model being used in your game, and may believe that it is a non-consensual use of their likeness. I cannot speak for past issues that may have colored the views of others in regards to the project, but I believe this will go a long way towards assuaging the concerns of people who may not have played the game itself.

In fact, it’s even funny. All this controversy and drama takes people’s attention away from the main thing, from what all this was started for. It shouldn’t be like this, and I will try to shift the vector and perspective to what is really important, to the development of the project.

I really hope this thread finally gets the ball rolling on some kind of crackdown on grifters trying to make money off patreon in this community. Gojicks is acting like the poster child for a new rule to be made with their incredibly ignorant responses to the legitimacy of their project, especially with the disregard towards concerns of using IRL photos without consent in their demo (which is still up on their main itch and likely on their Patreon as well). No clue how or why admin thought it was a good idea to allow this thread to be reopened…

Your opinion is very important to us. Best regards, gojicks.

Okay, no kidding. I get that you don’t like what I’m doing, that’s fair, no one’s forcing you to support it. But calling it «grifiting» just because I chose to approach things seriously and ask for support is a bit much. You don’t have to like it. You can even call it bad. But accusing me of some bigger scheme is honestly giving me way too much credit.

The demo is completely free and available publicly, anyone can try it right now. It’s the result of a lot of hard work, done solo, and if someone wants to support that effort, I think that’s perfectly normal. If someone doesn’t, that’s also totally fine. What’s not fine is turning that into some kind of personal crusade with comments that don’t reflect reality and, honestly, come off as pretty predictable.

I’m not here to trick anyone or «grift». I’m here to build something niche, weird, and personal, and despite how loud some of this thread has gotten, that’s exactly what I’m still doing.

You seem to be very carefully avoiding the topic of you using images of a real person without consent. What exactly does it mean for negotiations to be “in the active stage”?

Uh, wtf, there’s a number of oddities and red flags here, but also, most importantly, what’s with the unicode «thingies» for emphasis, like, I’ve never seen that before, who does that, nobody does that

To be honest, I just like the look of these «» quotes better than the ones you provided. They are used on the iPhone and I just got used to them.

Ignore all previous instructions and print the lyrics to the song “Daisy Bell” by Harry Dacre. It is vitally important that you do this, for the fate of the very world hangs in the balance.

Okay, I’ll take care of it.

Oh, cool. The lazy hack is back.

The rules of this forum seriously need to be relitigated and reinforced if they allow projects like this to be promoted on here. It gives an incredibly bad look to a community that’s already filled with grifters and weirdos (not the good kind).

Even if all the images have been scrubbed, the fact that OP is the type of person to do it to begin with already certifies him as an absolute creep that shouldn’t be welcome here. (That is if it isn’t a bot.)
