The thread for Resident Evil Fat mods

Well, i did some updates on Sherry’s body and i did some tests on her Europe costume:

Summary

Now i’ll take the proper break, i , in fact, got sick and should be resting, but i still wanted to show some of the updates i made before it.

See you soon.

Well, pretty much the Sherry mod is done. I said that i would take a break, but i that’s why i want to speak something first.

Not only i have autism, but i also hyperfocus on things and i dislike leaving stuff unfinished, which has led to many moments where i work to exhaustion or get frustrated and depressed because i can’t get things done right. I really want to make things of good quality, but lacking the knowledge, skill and patience puts me on a frustrated mood. I often compare my work to others and despite that i know that others are more experienced and know what they are doing, i can’t avoid to think i’m not good enough or that i’ll never be as good as other mod developers. Approaching others for help is awful for me and i tend to overthink of… pretty much anything. And now, i’m very tired and depressed (and sick, the worst time to be sick), so, i’ll definetly be on a break from modding from an extended period of time until further notice. This is for my well-being.

Now, the Sherry mod and i want to talk about my time on it. RE6 has been the most frustating thing to mod, since every character has not only way too many models, but also isn’t easy to mod, info on what files contain the meshes and textures isn’t complete and the game doesn’t run well on my current pc for some fucking reason. Most people that mod RE6 don’t even bother on modding the meshes for the cutscenes (for the reasons mentioned above). However, i was able to do it and modify Sherry for Cutscenes:

Unfortunately, she has other models in some cutscenes that i don’t know what files contain them. She will have a fat head, but a normal body in some scenes.

Another issue is in how the textures of the characters are in most older games. In some games, the textures of some characters may have handpainted shadows, which is often a way circunvent some limitations and is hidden underneath stuff like bags and holsters. For mods like these, i try to don’t resize some parts, like ammo pouches and bags, but since they are to hidden the shadows, it gets noticeable and looks ugly:

Luckily, only this costume of Sherry has that issue and “can” be solved with any texture editing program, but its very hard to do and i don’t have experience in texture editing. I was able to slightly clean her pants and belt, but for her shirt, i received the help of a friend who is a graphic designer and it looks better now, but i can’t rely on the help of others all the time.

There is also the issue of visible seams in her neck and wrists. Her body is weird in that her hands and head are covering the body, rather than each part being joined seamlesly. I don’t know how to fix that.

All of this and other stuff have made me very depressed, thinking that i’m unworthy, unskilled, the whole impostor syndrome. I don’t feel like releasing this after this whole ordeal because i want to do it right and be better, but i simply can’t right now, not in its current state. I don’t blame anyone but me for choosing such a hard task to acomplish.

I know that all of this is me having a breakdown or whatever is called, but that’s how i’m currently feeling and i felt the necessity to explain what is happening. I, as i said 'll be on a break or else it will get really worse. Thanks for your time and have a nice day, sorry for the inconveniences.

I have autism as well, and you’re not alone on this at all. I’m really sorry if you’re struggling with this and becoming stressed out with it. I feel bad that I was so intent on seeing Sherry really big that I wasn’t thinking of your own state. What I’ve been seeing though in the pictures are really amazing, and I think you’re doing a wonderful job. Of course though, I think a break is needed. I’m really happy with what you did for the Revelation characters.

I know I’m talking a lot, but for you to make fat mods for games that barely get any love is a big thing. So, thank you for all you’ve done, you deserve a break!

After some thinking, i decided to release the Sherry mod just as it is. I said it was pretty much done and i thought i prefer that all that work doesn’t go to waste. It ain’t perfect but, here it is anyways:

The link will be in the main post, but labeled as “Beta”.

I would like to give credit to my friend, who is a designer but wanted to remain anonymous for now. They helped me with the cleaning of Sherry’s textures for her Asia costume.

Also, since people were interested in modding for the og classics, i found a mod for Claire for the sourcenext version of RE2, which is capable of modding, but i haven’t tested it myself yet. The mod developer barely, if ever, releases their mods, but did release this one and is a “hyper” body-type for Claire. Not of my liking, but if people are interested, you can check it out.

She looks good, I think I’m that interested on modding RE2 there; if it’s possible for RE3 then I can try doing Claire and Jill

I’m curious, when are you going to return on trying to make mods for resident evil 5? Not sure if that’s still possible or not, but would love to see fatty Sheva!

Probably in November. Things have gone better.

And about Sheva:

I did tested a little with Sheva’s default costume before the break. Sheva has way too many models used for gameplay and cutscenes (which aren’t documented and I had to find them manually like with Sherry) Also, her head is like a jigsaw puzzle( is not one mesh, is several meshed together). Her bonus costumes aren’t like this, while her default one has multiple variants (like the one in the intro, when she gets her equipment and for when she wears body armor) and also has the handpainted shadows problem. Since all of her base costume variants are the same one just with more shit on them, is a litlle easier to modify everyone equally.

Ahhh, okay! No worries, also, great use of Michael Myers. Also…does the models have jiggle physics? :3

I don’t remember well (since I haven’t done anything RE related during the break), but i think they do have at least breast jiggle. The other RE games do have that from what i can remember.

After some thinking and releasing my latest mod. I want to remake (hah , get it?) my first RE mods, especially the Rebecca ones for RE0 since I made quite a lot of mistakes on them and I learned a lot since then. I also want to try doing 2 versions, one that is closer to the bodyshape I made for her and a bigger size, like the one I did for Sherry.

But before all of that, I’ll work on one more mod and will be for Sheva in RE5. I already have part of the base body done and showed here some of it and I want to finish it. This will be the next big project I’ll work before remaking the RE0 mods.

See you soon.

Good luck with the two versions & Sheva, I think making a bigger size of a character is that you need to choose what part ahould be bigger as well; belly, butt or chest basically, but overall/general weight gain that includes all 3 parts is a good choice if you don’t want to make specific body like top heavy, bottom heavy & belly heavy.

Thanks. I originally always wanted to do size variants for the characters (like baron’s mods) But already was hard to make the base shape for one character and I wasn’t convinced with the body shapes I was making. Also, I try to not make the characters too big or the clipping becomes not only too noticeable, but also disrupting in gameplay (specially since characters hold their weapons quite close to their bodies).

Since I’m here, I’ll take this chance to show a little more of Sheva. RE5, like RE6 has the thing that Capcom made different models for cutscenes, but at least is far more organized. The only true issue I found is how Sheva’s model was made (her head is split into multiple parts and her wrist on some costumes have a noticeable seam, to give some examples).

The B.S.A.A. costume of Sheva is done:

Having to do all of her variants of the costume was very hard (not all parts of the meshes in each version is similar). The rest of the outfits will be finished later and I’ll release it alongisde this in an all-in-one file, so that you can choose what to install. It will take more time also due to the holidays.

If interested, I made a video of the mod in-game, check it out:

The link will be in the main post as always.

She looks great, how’s the other models?

They’re quite complicated, but I’m making progress. Sheva has a lot of accesories to modify and something that I even made a post on DA about is that her DLC costumes weren’t polished, so they have flaws like visible gaps in the meshes that I have to fix beforehand. It’s very likely that I’ll have to postpone my romhack project for this.

For the moment, I’m currently working on her Clubbin costume. I need to fix her feets that look bad and the seams on the hands.

Yeah, doing accessories can be hard, sometimes you can try mesh transfer addon for blender by transfering her main body shapekey to the accessory like necklace but you need to adjust if there’s a floating gap like it floats on top of the breast rather than laying on top; you can transfer the mesh UV too but transfer shapekey is much preferred because you can safely sculpt the mesh afterward

Clubbin’ Sheva is ready:

But wait, there is more…

Tribal Sheva is also done:
