@tiggertoo I personally think enough has been said about the situation so I’m not looking to further beat a dead horse. The situation is not ideal for you the developer or any fan/supporter. But game cancelations happen and its unfortunate either way.
I have been a long time patron supporter and always appreciated the work and amount of effort that has been lovely crafted into your characters and world. It has been hands down the best game on the site in my opinion and every update always further cementing that. It has been a fun few years watching you hone your craft and seeing all the hard work that each update has showcased.
I wish you well, and a much deserved break. Take care.
Appreciate you stepping up to face the music head on, to at least allay the rumour mill. Anyone following the development knows how much work went into each scene and update, so to call the situation anything than what has been presented to us as is would be a gross misnomer.
It is undeniably regrettable that things went the way they did, but hopefully you can take heart in the support that was shown here and on Patreon.
Now that the heat has died down, I’m gladdened by the proposed hiatus as opposed to the outright cancellation as it makes the best attempt of salvaging the current situation. Hopefully the passion can be rekindled in this passion-project once more, whenever that may be. Until then, we wish you well.
Thanks for responding, and even for placing links for the latest version for everyone.
But I won’t be playing it.
Why? Because I don’t want to reach the end of that version and be left with a cliffhanger. I only played the 0.2 demo, and given my current location, patreon is simply not available for me, so I couldn’t support you like so many others.
I instead wanted and was committed to paying you for the full release, if you brought it to Steam, however remote the possibility of that happening can be. But hey, weirder things have popped up on there.
As you said, maybe one day you’ll pick it back up and continue where you left off, and finish it without placing any more versions out to be pirated.
I can only thank you for not 100% giving up on this project, I would even say it’s the poster child of these forums (Weight Gaming - Weighting Game) and one of the best ones here.
Man… I’ve been following your project since 0.5, and I have all the versions since then. You are the only person that i have bought a patron ever. You are a fucking genius, and it seems that you can’t see how much impact you have done on the weight gaming scene. Your writting skills are incredible, and the story you have telled all alone is the literal dream of a LOT of people (including me). Having the imagination to create such a story, telling it in such an AMAZING pacing, it was just too much for me that i couldn’t believe how good this was the first time i played it. Your work it’s the epithome of what we really are seeking. I understand your decision and i respect it, and you DARE NEVER SAY YOU ARE NOT CUT OUT TO BE A GAME DEVELOPER, beacuse you ARE an amazing game developer, you have poured all your heart an passion in the game, and we all have seen that through the chapters of the development. And it was a good decision too, because I would never want to see you working your ass off on something that you don’t have motivation on, because you don’t deserve that. Take time, cool your head, and it’s not a bad thing if you want to develop the game again, just do it when you want, but remember that I and a hell lot of people will wait for your return with open arms when your heart decides to do so. Don’t pay attention to lowlife haters, they don’t deserve your sorrow. And well, that’s it, don’t let the remorse eat away your thoughts, because you are a good person, an excelent person, and we all love you.
The one I like to use is “woah” in her house. However it can be done sooner. However also… turning her down causes a bug in 0.7 and 0.7a… so I’m not sure why you WANT to find out how to do it… Turning her down and then viewing the extra janet scene in 0.7b would work for you.
If you want to make sure never to turn becca down, then just replay the game and don’t turn her down? Or if you somehow remember the option to say “woah” at becca’s house, load that save and don’t say “woah”.
Other people chime in here please, but, imo the ending of 0.7 would be a fitting season finale for a tv show (if not a series finale). Yes there is a cliffhangar, but it’s sort of a tease and foreshadow kind of thing. It’s a much more satisfying ending than the endings for previous verisons, imo.
Patreon creates an expectation of continuous content. If you’re supporting a person/project there for the product, patrons will always have a perverse incentive to pull funding and reinvest if there isn’t a constant return. Incidentally, this also correlates with the patterns of patron loss after updates that might otherwise be labelled under piracy.
It really isn’t a great funding model, even if it’s one of the few options around and one of the most pervasive. Given the time investment required to make a videogame solo with this much rendered 3D, I don’t think the update pace was bad, but meeting patron expectations and pressure is the sort of thing that would be an ass to deal with, especially as more tiers get added, etc.
If this is still an issue in the current final build, it’s literally where the error message tells you it is. Line 36 of the relevant document (callalice.rpy? can’t remember). The line needed a second ‘=’ in it, that’s all. It’ll also stop Alice being at the gym every time as well.
I get it your mad and that’s valid and fine. But spreading more claims at someone who has stated their side of it doesn’t really accomplish anything. You can either take them at their word or don’t but accusing someone of a claim that you feel is the real reason they cancelled this whole project is not productive and to be honest toxic.
I think a game that has done nothing but introduce more lines of code, dialogue and renders each time an update has happened is expected to take longer. Especially when the solo person that works on it has a 9-5 full time job. Any person making a game that I am supporting on patreon or know of in similar situations don’t work a full time job in an unrelated field and put out the kind of content that tigger has. Most of the time I see people quit their job when reaching enough funding to work on something full time and go into game development of fetish or other types as an indie dev. Alot of people that don’t meet that niche are already coders, writers, or artists as a main source of income and still do that while working on a game.
Full scene renders and the amount of content that has come out each update, plus reworking the game for 0.6, the release schedule has been what is expected given the circumstances to me. It is a shame that things happened the way they did, alot of fans are sad to see the game go unfinished, but tigger is human (until proven otherwise) and I can’t blame someone for losing their drive and motivation to work on something regardless of the reason.
Can’t remember precisely now because I fixed it on my side already, but it’ll be around there, it’s a “if == True” (or False) statement that only has one equals rather than two that’s the issue. It’s related to not sending Alice to the gym, I know that much because she shouldn’t go at all at that size and this error means she goes every time it triggers & gets ignored. Just search " = True" with the space either side, it’ll find it, I imagine.
Mmmh cant seem to find it that way. Only all the way at the bottom of the file. Maybe it doesnt work because my last safe file was already with the bug in it. Thanks for the reply anyways.
I agree with this. I’ll never hold it against someone who doesn’t have the financial resources to commit to monthly payments on a project like this. Not everyone is in the same financial situation. But I certainly felt like the rate of updates felt more than appropriate given the scope/scale of the game.
Just because the game is technically Abandonware at this point does not make it Public Domain. It is still legally Tigger’s created content and so no official work or release on it can occur. It would just be piracy of a different sort.
Re: the Call Alice box disappearing, it actually for me was whenever she was going from starting weight to weight 1. If I made her gain too much weight before bringing her over to my house, it got rid of the Call Alice box. So I just had to revert my save and have her over before she hit that weight gain to fix that one.
It’s probably a small, cold comfort, but at least take pride in having something that people thought was worth pirating? Obviously you were doing something right, even if it resulted in less then ideal situations. I’m quite sorry (and unenvious) for the situation you found yourself in, but try to take some solace in knowing you made something so good that it was deeply coveted!
P.S. Do you possibly have a back up link, the drive link has been squashed by google due to how popular it is?
First off I just want to say that this game is great just like tiggers. I do hope that tiggertoo understands that it is actually a great compliment to have your game pirated although I do understand how frustrating that can be. I am also a content creator and my livelihood depends on the sale of my books. If one of my books isn’t on a torrent site I know it was a really bad book LOL. I can tell a lot of work and energy went into making this game and I hope that you continue to create new projects in future. Ta Ta for now
You’re looking in the wrong file, it’s within the scripts.rpa archive it’s not within the loose file with a different name (that’s got a similar enough name to be confusing you).
But trying to fix it yourself is irrelevant as tiggertoo fixed it in the links he put in the OP. But for some reason the patreon’s who already have 0.7a aren’t redownloading the game. They should download the links from the OP because it contains more fixes. Think of the links in the OP as 0.7b and realize they contain bug fixes that 0.7a does not contain.
