The Weighting Game - WIP

Thinking more on the Janet stuff, maybe another solution is to have an event or two that comes up before her visit to give a little foreshadowing beforehand. Personally, I’ve never managed to get the instant game over unless deliberately trying to make it happen.

For me it happened after the cafe scene with Hannah, right after she sent me the first topless photo. Hours of progress probably gone :frowning:

Yup, the exact moment I receive the text with the photo, Alice’s portrait disappears.

Getting the cutscene that shows off the first new weight threshhold (going to my place) seems to postpone the text; and the game is normal as of yet.

Last edit hopefully: Getting to the second weight stage before getting the topless photo from Hannah prevents the Call Alice window from disappearing. Hope it’s useful info.

I’ve been playing for over a week and wanted to let you know how great this project has been! I’ve genuinely enjoyed every moment of the game and love how my play through has gone!

@cheddar I’ll be doing some experimenting when I get round to writing new code to see if I can come up with meaningful dialogue to communicate how she’s feeling. Reallly don’t want to add loads of stats displays to the game unless there’s no other way. And yeah, I’ve never had the instant game over either in over 100 playthroughs. Although of course, I know exactly what to do and not to do to keep her happy :stuck_out_tongue:

@Gumxily that’s helpful. Thank you! Gives me a much better idea of where I need to hunt around to find what’s going on.

@PRO_MASTER360 I have lots of points. Some of them are even vaguely constructive.

@likethemtacos Glad you’re enjoying it!

Haha, yeah, I don’t post here every day :stuck_out_tongue:

Long long way to go before I can be said to be ‘finishing’ the game, but my new 2080 arrived yesterday, so I currently have a render queue of some 250+ images processing away…

To be fair he never said you were working on finishing it soon.

I like to think I’m working on finishing my chores just by thinking about them.

True, but ‘finishing’ implies nearly finished. I’m just pre-empting those who’ll look at the post, assume I’m almost done and start asking when the game will be ready

If only thinking about things would get them done! I’d have completed the game long ago. It’s ridiculous the amount of times I’m doing stuff and a game idea will pop into my head :stuck_out_tongue:

Something that just occurred to me is that none of the characters started off intentionally gaining weight. Alice, Becca, Hannah, and Lacey started gaining by accident, Janet is pregnant so weight gain comes with the territory, and Sarah was already fat to start with.

It would be nice, but isn’t necessary, to see one thin character start gaining because they want to gain weight. I think one way to achieve this would be to add some dialogue during the scene when Lacey admits that she likes gaining weight. When Lacey comes clean with Alice and MC, she could admit that seeing Alice gaining weight was causing her to miss her own fat days. When her landlord started hitting on her and giving her all that candy, she saw this as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone; She could scratch her itch for gaining weight and scare off her landlord with the her weight gain. Since most people would find wanting to gain weight odd, she just told people that asked that her weight gain was accidental. Now that she knows how Alice and MC feel on the subject, she saw this as an opportunity to come clean and be honest with them about it.

As an alternative, you could always add a new character. Maybe have MC get a new, single female neighbor. They meet and he invites her over for dinner with him and Alice. After a little too much to drink and seeing Alice over indulge, she accidentally lets out that she would like to gain weight but wants to wait until she meets the right woman. Alice thinks she might be a good fit with Sarah and introduces the two of them. They hit it off and she starts to gain.

Wait really?

Uh yeah no, that’s not a thing right now. Maybe in a year. Or two.

Yes it’s possible to skip the week breakup period. The dialogue is different and no break happens but it will lead to the same place with Alice stating the MC and her need to do better about her overindulgence and try to control themselves. Which starts the diet part of the story.

I’m surprised this hasn’t got more likes. I like it a lot! I’ll give it some thought and see if I can find a way of working something along these lines into the storyline

I actually got one last week. Over RRP, but only by a small amount. Nothing like the (minimum) 100% markups that I’ve been seeing on Ebay/Amazon. Small(ish) retailers really are the best sometimes!
