The Weighting Game - WIP

I’m probaby going to remove the ‘game over’ screen from the finished version. Most players never see it, but in hindsight, it’s a little harsh to end the game at this point.

Until then, the advice from @Elric is pretty good!

Thank you. Is there a place where you can view your romance levels with Alice?

Maybe it could be a tutorial game over that just moves you back a week or some such? I dunno.

On the flip side, I’ve always wondered, did you write jerk lines for after that check? because infinite negative teasing doesn’t work after that check so I’ve never been able to test it that thoroughly.

On the flip flip flip side, if you didn’t write those lines and someone fails that check and you don’t punish them, maybe you should pop up a notice saying something like, alice wants to give you a game over but that wouldn’t be fun so instead I’m waving a wand and making you nicer to her and continuing the game (so players are aware it’s even a mechanic that exists in the game, since you’re still planning to keep it secret.)

No it’s all internal variables within the game. Make sure you’re not making Alice pay for things by not having money and that your not teasing Alice too early in game (before the breakup scene would generally be too early as at atleast after it if you tease her and she dislikes it there is no other game over to worry about). These two things among others will lower romance score.

What @Elric said is good advice. Just know that the most common thing player’s experience (and technically the only canon of the three) is that you and Alice break up temporarily. The no break up is just different dialogue and scene that leads you back into the same thing as the break up.

If and when you get to the break up just keep playing for a week in game.

I quite like the idea of a Tigger floating onto the screen and majestically waving a magic wand to nullify the game over screen :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m hoping to make it much clearer just how Alice is feeling, but if I can’t convey that effectively enough then the simplest option is just to completely remove the game over altogether.

@WaitForIt2781 there’s currently no way of checking romance, other than her general responses when you talk to her. The happiness indicator is a start along the lines of better conveying how she’s feeling, but that’s very much work in progress.

Still think the player should be punished for being a dick to Alice, it would seem weird if she misses you and wants you back when you’ve been a jerk to her. But I trust you’ll find a way to make it work

Tbf only times I ran into this was when I was hard speed running and not really doing much outside meeting milestones to go up sizes. However I guess a gameover doesn’t add too much so wouldn’t be upset either way. Just wondering if there’s any plot that could come of it, but you’ve gone so far from that branch the only viable options I can think of are conpletely different stories. Like a Becca becomes your gf path, but then that’s just more work on an already hugely ambitious game, the release of which I certainly don’t wish to delay. :joy:

I’m a little curios. If you don’t mind me asking, what was the original plan for Hannah if she wasn’t meant to gain weight?

@JustChris I agree with you. But it can take several hours to get to that point in the game and currently, players aren’t given a clear enough indication that she’s not happy. For some, especially new players, that can be very annoying, and I don’t want to make the game frustrating to play. There’s nothing worse than having to go back to a much earlier save (or even start again from scratch) in a game simply because it hasn’t clearly communicated something to you.

@loljuicepwn I definitely won’t be adding an additional girlfriend path after the breakup. Huge amount of extra work just to do so for one girl and if I did it for Becca, I’d have to do it for the other girls too :stuck_out_tongue:

@charfire2002 I didn’t have much of a plan for Hannah when I first introduced her. She was originally going to pop up now and then (much as she does now), but be really nasty to Alice about her weight.

I think (it was over two years ago now) that the first version of the game featuring Hannah only had the initial couple of cafe scenes where Alice recognises her. I was planning to develop her story more after that. Then someone asked ‘is she going to get fat too?’ and if you’ve seen Despicable Me…

Her story was easy to write after that!

Yeah and as appealing as an every girl route sounds, ideally I think I’d like to see the game release this decade. Though that did get me thinking about what is unique to each woman and what scenarios could be cool to see.

Hannah has been a temptress and her route has you cheat more overtly, so I think a scenario where you can’t escape would be cool. From literally a broken lift (elevator) to something like a weekend away where she is for some reason also there. Maybe you’re on a work course and she’s also there… though a work course may suit Becca more.

Speaking of whom, clearly the time the player and Becca have alone is naturally at work. I think it’d be cool to have a few more interactions there. Maybe a scene where she’s in a storage cupboard and somehow gets stuck / or clothing malfunction bending over. Also a more consistent set of scenes, could be the option to take her to lunch on the lunch break as she delves more into feederism.

Lacey, unlike the two above is more into the fetish than she is into you, in fact she’s not actively pursuing the player at all so far. As such it might make more sense for Alice to be involved in most scenarios, but it could be cool for one of those drinking sessions to lead to late night take out and then back to eat it all, something ala Alice and the pizza scenes. Whether or not that then is back to Alice’s and she’s involved, not sure which direction is better. Then if the two get a bit closer, the option to buy her food and take a break with you at the cafe would also be a cool, potentially repeat scene.

Haha, never mind this decade, I’d like to get it finished this year!

That’s pretty unlikely though :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a hell of a lot of things on the to-do list, including more interactions with some of the characters.

I would also love to see that but that would mean alot of work still

Maybe An expansion Idea once the game is finished (to trigger his Ideal)

Never say never, but an expansion is very very unlikely.

I think this’ll be my first and last game :stuck_out_tongue:

Same problem. Alice happy and all that, but I don’t know what to do. Every time she reaches 260 lbs, she immediately begins to drop them in training. No matter how I try to outwit the system, I am not allowed to advance further.

I already spent 3 hours of real life on this and I honestly don’t want to play any more after that. It’s a shame, because the plot and character development is interesting.

Well, I’m sure you can make smaller games. I mean look at Cuphead and how long it took for it to be made (not even mentioning how long the DLC took). What you have here is something a game studio would try and handle, and yet you did it all as a solo person (with tips and assistance from the community).
Although it will be sad for the day you finally close the book on Alice and the rest once it is finished, it would mean an end to this chapter and an opening of the next one.

Have her to your house every night so you can cancel her diet, also I recommend daily picnic because it’s free, other than that just take her out to eat as much as you can and if the gym notification pops up meet her there also to cancel her diet.

@pOpLiK It’s a deliberately slow-paced game. Even if you know exactly what you’re doing, it’ll take more than three hours to play through the current content. There are plenty of fast paced games out there. I wanted to make something different and a little more realistic.

The advice from @namad is good. If she’s dieting, she’ll mention it when you go see her at the gym, and/or at your house when you cook her dinner, and give you the option to tell her to stop. Otherwise she’ll carry on.

@Seeker9043 Yeah, I can make other smaller games, but that doesn’t mean that I will. By the time I’ve finished, I’ll have spent three years or more of my life doing almost nothing but work on this. I sort of want my life back once this is over

Finally around to giving this another play through. The pacing is pretty good, great variety of events and things to do, love all the girls. My favorite events have to be the interactions between Sarah and Alice, I really like the somewhat role-reversal thing they’ve almost got going on where Alice is becoming the Fat(ter) one!

All in all, awesome game! Glad to see you returned to it and hope things go well this time around!
