Personally, I feel like it’s pretty intuitive how to avoid a gameover scene. There’s myriad opportunities presented in the game to compliment and reassure Alice and it really seems like the only way to arrive at “Gameover” is if you’re intentionally trying to be a dick to Alice lol.
If I recall correctly, there’s even some times where the two choices presented are to “reassure her” or “do nothing.” I don’t think it should be worth your time and effort to modify the early section of the game for people that can’t figure out a how to correctly select a sequence of obvious positive decisions.
That is, unless the “problem” is really bothering you personally. I wrote this under the assumption that you’re attempting to appease some outlier players.
(Deleted last post when I realized I replied to the overall thread—I meant to reply specifically to Tigger)
To explain further, it’s not so much that I want to appease people; more that I want to make it clearer what may happen.
Currently, it’s quite possible to get the ‘game over’ screen even if the ‘call Alice’ button is showing that her mood is okay. One of the things I dislike in a game is where you’re harshly punished for something you weren’t aware of, and if you’ve not encountered this before (or you’re on your first playthrough), then you obviously don’t know that this scenario is possible
So, a player may happily be teasing Alice, completely unaware that they’re heading for a gameover because the game isn’t giving enough info. Alice seems relatively happy and then BANG, game over. You can reload an earlier save of course, but without more indication of what’s going on, the player has no real idea whether they’ve done enough to save the situation until they hit it again.
And if they do get the same outcome and they don’t have any earlier saves, then the only option is to start again from the beginning. Which can take several hours, especially for new players. That’s unfair in my book.
With all that in mind, the plan is to offer more information as to what’s going on behind the scenes. I’m not a fan of loads of on-screen stats, so there won’t be any more of those, soI’m thinking along the lines of a ‘How are we doing?’ line when calling Alice, or perhaps something similar when you’re both together at your house or hers. If she’s not happy enough, she’ll say so!
Removing the gameover will (probably) only be a last resort if I can’t get this to work effectively enough.
Why being a jerk lead you to a temporary break up and trying your best to make alice fat and happy lead her to permanent breakup?
I used save editor to play the break up scene… so beautiful!
I also read some of your old post on this forum telling about your story, i am sorry for your breakup
I hope you will find someone back!
You have so much skills you deserve an alice like girl friend! (Maybe not that fat… real money is actually more difficult to earn)
Question what if alice could break up obese?
Something like " hi i urgently need to eat, please come! I will pardon you!"
Thanks, but I’ve not broken up with anyone - at least not since long before I ever started work on this game.
(and to be honest, I’m not sure any partner would put up with me working almost constantly for over two years on a fetish game instead of paying them attention )
Oh, and as I’ve said before, unless you know exactly what you’re doing, I’d strongly advise against using save editors. Some of the progression scenes in the game are triggered by a combination of variables, so if you change one without correctly changing the other, you’ll almost certainly break the game.
Yeah, I had tried using a save editor at the start to see if I could cheat to get to max weight, but since the weight is tied to how many times you’ve done certain events, it just ended up failing. Although the one thing I was able to edit successfully was the amount of money you have, which in the long run proves very helpful
I don’t recall the exact number but it’s higher than/around 340lbs I believe. Since the game is a work in progress. You will know when you have hit the end of the content by getting to the “to be continued” screen. You can still play after this screen and Alice’s number weight can still increase without any visual changes. Alice will get quite large by the end of the current version.
i’ve been wanting to ask a few questions myself about the final update / release of the game for a while so i thought i ask now due to Alice at 370lbs stage and above towards her last stage.
Is she still going to exercise after reaching this stage and beyond because at the end of the current build as i would suspect she would eventually can’t physically do it anymore as it’s now starting to become much of a burden for her to that even walking would now likely tire her out easily.
Are some of the other members of the cast going at any point some other characters start to get either jealous, wanting our MCs attention or Love gaining weight themselves they start catching up to alices weight?
Is Alice going to eventually move into the MCs house or vise versa since her weight might be making things harder for her and having our character in the same household as her will open new options and dialog?
This is as much as i can ask for now and i am not sure if others have asked these questions already…
Just a thought, but a variety of more forceful don’t-want-to-be-teased responses would probably be sufficient to get the message across, especially if they were impacted by the current value of romance being below the game-over threshold.
Similarly with the making-Alice-pay one she could just refuse all the PC’s advances for the next day or so to make it clearer that it’s not acceptable (and give the PC a chance to earn).
I remain surprised that players are still getting into this situation. I’ve done it once just to see how hard it was and you really need to work at it. I know it’s just a game, but it I really wonder about some people.
Alice broke up with me the first time I played. I never thought Alice’s feelings about teasing and pushing a lot of food on her in the early game were vague, I just didn’t know where the line was. That playthrough she got back together with the MC no problem, it never happened again in successive playthroughs and I never got a game over. I don’t think more communication is necessary if you know failure is a remote possibility, especially considering you can revert to an earlier save if you really screw up and just try again. Even if Tigger thought clearer or more varied negative reactions would be beneficial to players, I think he has said most of the game playable now is totally finished and won’t be altered further or added-to at this point. I suspect everything up to Alice becoming a full-on feeder is not changing.
That’s not the scenario being discussed. I like the break-up, and prefer it to the “success” condition of not breaking up: it makes what happens later all the sweeter (and allows the PC to build up some cash reserves too).
It is possible to get a game-over at that point rather than the break-up. That’s what is not well foreshadowed.
@Dymometer2 I wondered where Alice’s sister had gone. I hope you’re keeping her well fed!
@EarthboyJAK if a player is heading towards a game over, I think it’s only fair to warn them.
Very little in the game is completely finished, especially as I’m recoding/restructing a lot of it to make it more streamlined. Probably no major tweaks to the story, but there will be additional stuff.
@dingotush not at all a bad idea of simply making Alice’s responses to being teased more disapproving! As for her paying, if it keeps happening she does (or should - it’s a new system and wasn’t as well tested as I’d like) make it more obvious that she’s not enjoying constantly having to pay for dates.
@maldy the next update definitely won’t be the last, but as for your other questions, I never like to give away any of the story (partly because I make some of it up as I go along!), so you’ll just have to wait and see
Possibly, but at the moment I’m focussing on recoding the existing game and adding all the extra bits that I wanted to squeeze in previously, so I may well decide to use the next version to thoroughly test that rather than add any completely new stuff.
In any case, it won’t be a public update. There almost certainly won’t be any more public versions until the game is finished.
Typing this by candlelight. Power is out here and it’s STORMY!
I have an question and if i shouldnt ask them here i am sorry.
Alice Broke up with me after a while whilst she was happy and she gained around 60 Pounds.
It was Part of her Sisters first visit where she Asked me if i were a Feeder.
I chose the Honest option and as mentioned the Break up was the Result.
I havent seen a Game over screen so i decided to play on overwritting all my Autosaves.
She doesnt anwser calls and she seems to be Constantly in the Sad state now, is there a way to recover The relationship or should i start over?
