The Weighting Game - WIP

Over 4.5k images in the new rework and close to 15 GB uncompressed. Nice. Your graphics card probably wants to die though.

Wait, is the update out now? Is it on Patreon? Or are we still waiting, and it’s just an update in the initial post?

The term update is being used to refer to the editing of the first post, in which @tiggertoo gives an idea of how the internal dev build 0.8.1+ is shaping up and the work that has currently gone into it. You can see a general overview in the first post. There are still no plans for any further public release (paid or free) versions. If the plan stays the same as it has been, the game will see an update that is available to the public once the game is fully finished and completed, unless something changes. An updated demo might be something that is done in the future. Currently the patreon is a tip jar to help with development and some exclusive renders/short VN stories in the form of a small linear game using ren’py, which are generally non canon.

Ah, okay. Thank you! :+1:

As usual, @Krodmandoon is completely correct. The ‘update’ refered to was me updating the summary section in the first post. I need to find another word to use instead of update in there to avoid any future confusion!

There’ll definitely be a new demo. I could put it out pretty much any time, but I’ll be holding off until the game is much nearer being ready. Partly because there’s nothing more annoying than seeing a demo you (hopefully!) like and then having to wait ages for the finished game, but mostly because I keep adding more stuff! Currently adding another (smallish) repeatable scene to the list of things you can do with Alice, and this’ll be included in the eventual demo release.

Might I suggested “amended” to help avoid confusion when you alter the summary?

And I’m excited there’s going to be one more demo before the final release. I’ve been holding off on a replay in the hopes of there being something new “soon”.

How do you get past the part where the sister/friend arrives?
Thank you

Getting past the … unpleasantness - Just suffer through it for a while, same as Alice. It’ll take a bit, but she’s feeling like her days are drudgery and unfulfilling too. If you weren’t a terrible boyfriend there might be a chance to fix things, but you’ve got to give her a little time to think about things first.

How long do I have to wait?
Thank you

How long? I think it’s like about week or so of in-game time. If longer than that, not MUCH longer.

I can’t get past the sister part, any advice?

The general advice is try to compliment Alice regularly.
Try to take her out regularly.

That’s basically it. I think there is or was a bug where Alice never calls you back and the game doesn’t have an option to speak to her or something ever pop back up but it’s a rare bug.

I think one playthrough I had it where she didn’t actually break up with me at all.

You haven’t really given what your issue is specifically, but I would guess the most likely thing that would cause you issues is getting a game over screen that kicks you back to the main menu after the three choices you can pick when Alice asks if you’re a feeder. For most people you would temporarily break up with Alice after picking one of the three options and after a week of in-game time passing an event pops up and you get back together (it’s also possible to not break up at all but it’s very unlikely you would ever have this happen your first time playing.) The breakup event keeps track of an internal game variable or stat called “romance score” which you cannot track yourself in game. If this stat is too low when after answering Alice’s question with one of the three options, the breakup that would normally just last a week turns into a game over.

There are a few things to do to get around this, for one there’s a guide for the game in the first post, which would require you to probably start over. The guide has an FAQ section that tells you all kinds of things including how romance score works. Reloading to an earlier save point before the event where Alice’s sister comes to visit and trying to raise your romance score stat could be done. Or using someone else’s save that gets past the event without a game over is an option.

So, with that in mind, I’ll include the link to the walkthrough, romance score breakdown, and a couple of save files. One save file lets you go through the breakup event where you have to pass a week in game to continue playing, and the other will “skip” the breakup event due to it having a high enough romance score, both have unique scenes during this so pick whatever you want. Both the breakup and non breakup parts don’t change anything further in the story as both “paths” merge back together after this event.

Some easy ways to increase romance score include, going on the fancy restaurant date on the weekend, sharing your pastry with Alice when shopping. Going along with her choice at the movies and complementing her. Cooking dinner for Alice when she is not too full at the player’s house (you can see this when she says the line about her mom). During the slushy movie telling her you prefer the way she looks compared to the heroine on screen.

There are multiple things that can have this effect. The most common being teasing Alice too early (generally before the break up event has happened) in the play through and having her pay for things when you have no money and chose to still go out. You are free to tease Alice after the break up event as it is the only game over currently in game.

Break up save file.zip (245.2 KB)

Non break up save file (238.6 KB)

To use the save files just download and unzip one of them from the folder and then drop the save file into saves folder which is inside the game folder within the game’s files and then load the save.

As usual, @Krodmandoon has a) beaten me replying and b) is completely right! There are three outcomes to that scene, one of which is a hard game over. It’s there because it is a viable outcome, but I’m not happy with it currently as it’s nowhere near clear enough that this may happen. The finished version of the game will have an option to talk to Alice at any time you call her to ask how things are going between you, and she’ll give a better idea of how she’s feeling. There’ll also be an option at the start of the game to avoid any potential game over scenarios when playing, for those who just want to see the fatties!

The bug that @Das_Amigos mentions is much nearer the start of the game. I think it kicks in just before the first weight gain stage (I say ‘think’ because it is indeed pretty rare and I’ve never been able to replicate it!), so if you’ve reached the scene with Alice’s sister showing up, you’re safely beyond that point.

Is it possible for Alice to break up with you in Stage 1?

No.

The breakup event is a scripted weight stage three(fourth overall stage) event. You either pass or fail if you don’t meet a stat requirement after you complete weight stage two’s last event with Alice and her sister. If your stat is under the threshold to succeed the check the break up event happens (if really low the game over screen triggers.) If you pass the check by having a high enough score the break up event doesn’t trigger.

Ohh okay. I was in weight stage 0 and the first time Alice weighed herself she was 140 and the game broke I think because I could no longer call Alice to meet up at the apartment. Her picture disappeared.

That’s the call Alice bug. The short answer would be that it’s a rare bug that requires you to start over as that save is borked now. If you’re not wanting to do that I’ve linked working Windows saves here before. If you’re on another OS unfortunately I don’t have any saves for that.

I changed a new PC this year, when I try to open the game, there was a problem that I hadn’t encountered before. So I took a screenshot.

I might be totally wrong, but it looks like the part of that where the ‘user’ would be is replaced by ‘???’
It might be a pathing issue as a result, with the system trying to walk a path that no longer exists.
