Based on that error message I’d guess you’ve transferred the contents of your old pc’s drive to the new one - or put the same drive in the new machine perhaps?
Either way, delete all instances of the game and any files you may have for it except the zip. Extract the zip file to a new directory - for example C:\Games\The Weighting Game and try again. That should fix it.
Its amazing, everytime I replay (which mostly is once a year) I just get excited all over again, the I keep falling in love with the writing and characters
Sorry for being MIA for a bit. Had an insanely busy few weeks for a variety of real life reasons. So much so that I’ve barely touched my computer, let alone done any game work. That said. I’ve finally cleared my render queue and now have around 1,000 images (subject to me redoing some due to dodgy clipping, Daz ridiculousness, or just not being happy with the end result, etc) to code into the game.
Hopefully things will calm down a bit after this weekend and I’ll be able to get back to work!
@SanniD yes, she can lose weight to an extent, but she’ll never drop below the minimum weight threshold for that stage. For example, if she starts the stage at 180, she will never drop below 180, no matter how long she loses weight for. The original plan was that she could slim right back down to her starting weight (120) if she dieted for long enough, but as most events in the game are triggered by her weight, that was causing no end of issues with events re-triggering and the like. Would have been one hell of a recode to get round that, so I copped out and made it so that she can only lose so much weight in any stage.
Wait Alice can lose weight ? Damn I never noticed that. Does it happen if you just avoid food fully and only do gym and park stuff ?
If you had decided to include the weight loss to 120 would there have been dialogue about it and reverse weight stage scenes ? Would have been funny if her getting back to 120 was just a game over.
Tiggertoo already said that she won’t visually lose weight. She can never lose enough weight to reverse her weight stage, the game is designed to make this not possible. You would have events that you have already been seen replay again once she lost weight and then gained it back if it was possible. And without code in place to account for this, it would cause all kinds of issues and bugs. So, while the scale and her dialogue around her weight will reflect that she’s lost weight, visually she won’t ever be different.
@Heretoseestuff If I remember correctly, Alice passively loses weight per day, and she will work out and unless the player has fed her she will work out unimpeded, which will work against her weight gain. However, the player can easily counter this by feeding her or inviting her to do things involving food. As the game goes on it gets easier to counter this, although her losing weight is only really noticeable if you basically don’t feed, interact with her, or cause her to diet (even then you’d have to not really be doing much with her.) She is quite literally coded to work against you since she has no intention of gaining weight in the beginning and left to her own devices that’s what she will do.
Yep, like a real person, Alice will passively lose weight if she doesn’t eat enough.
I did originally plan to make it possible for her to diet back down to her size/weight at the start of the game, but this proved way too complex for my puny brain, so I copped out and made it that she could only ever go back to the weight she was at the start of that particular weight stage. Let’s be honest, most people who play the game are only interested in her weight going up, so I figured it wasn’t worth all the extra coding to do any more than that.
What do you mean ‘coded’? Alice is a real woman! I asked her and she told me!!!
Just to avoid any confusion, the ‘update’ @ben.janssens352 is refering to isn’t an update to the actual game, just an edit to the first post in the thread showing the current state of play
