Now THAT is a very good question! I honestly have no idea whatsoever how many words of text there are in the game.
That said, I picked one of the new one-off scenes and copied the text verbatim into Word. The word count came out at just over 1,940 words. Of course, quite a few of those words are code rather than text, but the majority of it is story.
I really don’t have the time or inclination to go through the game counting all the words - it’d take me days with all the repeatable scenes and possible text variations, etc - but an average novel seems to be 70,000 words plus and I’m fairly certain I have more words than that.
Ren’pys lint checker gives you a word count. Not sure if it counts it including code but since it specifically says dialogue blocks I choose to believe it doesn’t.
Never even thought of using that! Always wanted to know just how much lint there was in the game.
Joking aside, just ran it on the latest version of V0.81 and the result is…
“The game contains 64,614 dialogue blocks, containing 517,743 words and
2,623,677 characters, for an average of 8.0 words and 41 characters per block.”
I’m assuming the wordcount is fairly accurate, but it won’t take into account the fact that all the repeatable scenes have some duplicated text, so the real word count will be a lot lower. Even so, I’d reckon my original estimate of 70,000 words is very much on the low side.
edit As a comparison, just did the same with V0.7 and it came up with…
“The game contains 29,846 dialogue blocks, containing 241,079 words and
1,221,376 characters, for an average of 8.1 words and 41 characters per block.”
Hoooooooly hell I remember the last time the jump in overall content was brought up I was equally shocked but doubling the amount of text in a VN from one version to the next is absolutely crazy. Version 1.0 is going to take six months to see the end of.
If you can get a copy of that save file uploaded (assuming this isn’t within 2 in game weeks of the breakup sequence) because there’s a super super rare bug that me and a few others have had happen where the breakup happens, and for some reason you don’t get back together with Alice because that sequence never triggers.
Tiggertoo has been trying to fix it but as eveyone else just restarted out saves we’ve not been able to help him much in fixing it. I dunno save it as like page 9 file 1 or something but you’ll have to restart your playthrough again if it’s been more than 1 week after the breakup and there’s been no events and the icon is still gone.
Does someone know all the weights at which Alice goes up in the weight stages? I’m at 400 pounds right now and I’m just wondering when she’ll get bigger.
I have a guide linked in the first post. I believe the last event triggers after 360+ lbs. After which an event happens that leads to a “to be continued” screen. In which the game lets you know you’ve hit the end of the content.
After this scene is over you can keep playing and Alice’s weight will numerically rise but there’s nothing further yet.
There’s a file upload option on posts here if that would work for you it’s the one next to </> or some people use megaupload or something like that as alternatives.
@Heretoseestuff Dunno about 6 months, but hopefully more than a few minutes
@Das_Amigos that bug only (as far as I know!) shows up very early in the game - before the first weight stage triggers. It’s definitely very rare. I’ve played through the early stages of the game literally hundreds of times and never managed to trigger it. Pretty certain it’s fixed in 0.80 and beyond though.
@Tango as @Krodmandoon says, you’ll hit a black screen with ‘To be continued’ on. Followed by a warning that you can carry on playing but there’s no new content and you’re very likely to hit bugs. An easy way of telling whether you’ve hit the end of the current content is Alice will have a discussion with you about bringing a second feedee on board. If you’ve had that scene, you’ve hit the end.
@Hoixi02 it’s 0.8(x) - currently 0.81 - as it’s the next step in development, following on from 0.7. 0.8 was a (relatively) short test of all the new coding and stuff. 0.81 will take things up to, or maybe just beyond) the current ending of 0.7. I’m hoping (don’t quote me!) that 1.0 will be the final finished game, but I’m not sure yet how many versions there will be between now and then. And yep, that does mean that the new word count I posted a few days ago isn’t even up to the current end of 0.7 yet. 0.81 is only 80% or so complete.
@AHumanBeing yeah, you can upload the file to this thread if you like. I don’t really do discord - don’t have time! There is a game discord of sorts, which @Krodmandoon very kindly set up for me, but it’s only for internal game testing.
I’ve been able to isolate it further; it seems to occur for me after Hannah sends the first nude text to you of her posing over her kitchen table.
I tried replicating it and I think it happens when you don’t get the scene of Alice showing off the pink dress when you have her over for dinner at your place by the time this happens?
Sigh Once… just ONCE, I’d like a Daz Studio install to actually WORK.
Decided to upgrade my PC to Windows 11 seeing as Windows 10 is nearing the end of its life. Tweaked the BIOS, changed my boot disk from MBR to GPT.Downloaded Windows 11. Installed Windows 11. Working perfectly.
FIgured I might as well upgrade Daz Studio too, as I’m using a version that’s a good couple of years out of date. Downloaded the update via the Install manager. Started installing. Of course, it crashed. Reinstalled old version of Daz from my backup. No update available in the Install Manager. Deleted and reinstalled old version of Daz. Deleted and reinstalled Install Manager. Still nothing. Eventually found a link to a manual download in the godawful mess that is the Daz forums.
Downloaded. Installed. Works! Yay! Or so I thought. Every character I now load looks like…
Yeah, daz’s installer is so finnicky most users are terrified or flat out refuse to accept their updates just about ever
I have had good luck installing dazstudio via DIM although I did once break down and just redo everything clean from scratch once which was painstaking.
