The Weighting Game - WIP

@namad I should probably have learned my lesson from the last time I tried to upgrade Daz. ‘Support’ - for want of a better word took a couple of weeks trying to work out what was wrong before giving up and telling me to install an older version.

A clean install really would the nuclear option. I have thousands of installed third party addons/custom stuff that I’ve created, all organised into folders (because Daz in their wisdom never enforced installation protocols for stuff, so devs just put things wherever they feel like, meaning finding stuff is bloody impossible) and it’d take me weeks if not months of very boring, laborious work to recateporise everything.

Hoping/suspecting it’s a pathing issue, although the complete lack of any error messages isn’t helping and I know from past experience that the Daz log is as useless as a chocolate teapot.

@CoastalBunny Thanks. I need all the luck I can get where Daz is concerned!

Something very similar happened to the person working on Chunky Cheerleader. Support wasn’t very helpful unfortunately.

I think I’ve said something similar to this many years ago but recently I’ve been thinking why Weighting Game sticks with me, more then other amazing games on here. What makes this game so special? Why do I care so much about these digital characters, why am I just as excited to see their story unfold as to see them gain? Other weight gain games have stories that are interesting too, but why is it so important with this one?

And I think I’ve figured it out, what makes this game so special to me, and this isn’t me putting other games down because I play them and I love them for their own reasons. But what makes weighting game so special is because the characters gain is intertwined with their personality and their story. Its who they are. These characters would probably gain weight if they lived in a world where society doesn’t frown upon it. Society is basically whats holding them back, we all know women in our lives that LOVE food and LOVE eating but they balance it out by doing the stuff they don’t like to retain a healthy slim figure.

Like Alice for example, she loves food and loves to eat but she’s a classic emotional eater. When she’s happy she eats, because eating is what makes her feel good, but when she’s sad she eats because eating is what makes her feel good. So on her own she found a way to manage those traits and remain skinny. But add a feeder character to that formula and ofcourse she’ll blow up. Because we encourage the side of her that enjoys eating.

Then we have Rebecca, she’s a stress eater, she eats when she’s stressed and she has to manage an entire company, and also try to have some sort of love life and she’s also new in town. She’d probably grow slowly on her own anyway maybe a bit and then she’d get a handle on it or maybe not, but its so natural do add our character to that, encourage those eating habits and she blows up.

Then there’s Hannah, she used to be fat, lost alot of weight and I’ve seen it happen in real life when someone overweight becomes skinny, they become what they adored, the hot confident flirty girl that gets everything. Because they wished they were that when they were fat. So when she suddenly can’t get what she wants its frustrating, she’s willing to do anything for it even stop smoking which famously makes people gain a few pounds, coupling her desire to have people think she’s hot and she blows up.

And well Lacy is also handled super interestingly as she is a feedee, lost weight and is/was basically waiting for someone to come along and share the fetish with. Because her last partner didn’t enjoy it. Which is super interesting to view the other side, what if a woman has the fetish but her partner doesn’t? We as a player don’t know she’s into it because how can you share that? so that twist explained so much about her dialogue and it just works.

So as you make the game you probably did this intentionally, but other games that have great writing and interesting stories, its usually still a fact that the women in the game gain because you make them, they enjoy gaining because its a fantasy written by and made for people with this fetish. They gain because its a weight gain game so ofcourse they do. But with your game there’s a story behind the gain a reason behind the fantasy which despite being a game where “ofcourse all the women around you gain weight” it still feels real, the characters feel real atleast because the reason of their gain is real and so intertwined with who they are as a person.

So once gain thank you for putting so much detail and effort in the writing and characters because there is nothing like it.

Well, if that isn’t going to make me big-headed, nothing will! I’m not sure my game is anything particularly special, but I’m obviously not complaining if you think so  I did set out from the start to try and make all my characters different - apart from the common theme of weight gain, of course - and by and large, and more down to luck than judgement, it seems as though I’ve had some success in that. So, yep, definitely intentional.

There’s at least one more girl who’ll make an appearance in the game; those who kindly tested 0.8 for me will have already seen her, although she’s been tweaked a bit since then. She’s a little more generic IMO, but still different (I hope!) to the others.

I’ve always enjoyed writing and I actually have pretty detailed backstories for all the characters. If/when I ever finish the game (will be working on it again today straight after I finish writing this), I’m planning on an AMA, which will be answered by the relevant characters. Want to know what Becca did before she got a job at the MC’s place of work? Ever wondered if the MC has fed girls before he started dating Alice? You’ll be able to ask!

Other news - I’ve finally sorted out Daz Studio!!! As suspected, Daz support were worse than useless. Insisted the only solution to the weird character issue was to delete absolutely everything and reinstall from scratch. Despite me pointing out that due to me having hundreds if not thousands of custom folders, plus a lot of assets from places other than the Daz store (Renderosity etc.), that simply wasn’t an option. I eventually got round it by deleting all the stock Daz items for G3, G8 and G9, then reinstalling those and manually editing the paths until they worked. Took ages, but nowhere near as long as a complete reinstall, plus recreating all my folders! So I’m now back to being able to render again after a few weeks break. At least my graphics card got a nice rest!

What I would probably suggest is doing a clean install of the latest version (rather than an update) and giving it a test pass or two to determine if it’s actually worth it for you to upgrade. If the latest version doesn’t meaningfully improve your workflow, stay where you are = P

Hi tiggertoo

Having played so many games on this site, I still think this is the best game on the site and for this genre. I think the real good part of game is the depth of characters and the depths of the dialogues they have, and how on how much deeper they develop as the story unfolds. No other game on this site ever matched these two points to this game. tiggertoo I think you have done a great job – and I just wanted to say thank you for making this game… Writing up to here, I feel nothing but impulsed to suggest the potential possibility of changing your mind, and releasing some newer versions (doesnt have to the newest) to those who are willing to financially support the game (I believe there are a lot!!! Also, I hope this does not count as asking for an update – it really is merely asking for making an update that existed for a very long time accessible to its fervent supporters)

Do you recall any details like if it had a holiday theme ? TT2 has made a couple shorter games with the same characters which you can find on there patreon. Though they may have posted one or two here.

@KuarterBound I’m guessing you’re talking about v0.8? I could release that, but it’d feel way too much like ripping people off. There’s a lot of new stuff in there, sure, but it’s a lot shorter than 0.7 (only goes up to the part of the game where Alice asks if you’re a feeder). 0.8 will eventually form the basis of a new demo though. There’s a possibilty I may put out other versions between now and the game actually being finished, but don’t hold your breath.

@Alecccc sounds like you’re talking about ‘Baked Goods Binge’. That’s a Patreon only mini-story that I posted on here for a little while - partly as a Christmas present, partly as a celebration of 50k downloads of the game on Weightgaming. No current plans on making it public again, I’m afraid.

@Heretoseestuff I’ve posted a few Patreon images on here, but that’s the only mini-story, I think.

Thanks. Releasing 0.8 would certainly be great and I would hope to play it!

At the same time, I was thinking maybe it is possible to restart releasing new versions on patreon, but it is completely your decision I guess.

Intresting I could have sworn the halloween one was up here a while. Though I may be getting mixed up on that.

A while back though their was a open invitation to present ideas for the game and I don’t think a cut off to that was stated and I had another idea well replaying the game (again) (for like the 9th time)

Small spoiler

During the pub events the MC mentiones getting a pool and alice mentiones needing to buy new swim suits if he does

The MC then says he was only joking and doesn’t have the money for something like that. Made me think what if it was an end game purchase you could save up for, Or like an event where you win a prize on a scratcher for some reason and you have the choice of just not needing to go to work for a while or installing the Pool

Everytime you mention this mystical 0.08 having tons of new stuff but only going upto Alice asking if you’re a feeder gets me so curious every single time! Gets me excited for sure! I feel like the difference between 0.07 and the final game will be day and night!

I’ve always wondered if you’ve always known where you wanted the story to go/end from the start though. Anyways I’d personally prefer waiting for the full game, getting 0.08 would be awesome but it would probably just make me thirsty for more!
