I’m assuming you’re playing 0.2? Yes, I’ve added more since then.
yea I don’t enough moment for play .3 and too lazy put in my credit cards number since I don’t have
I’ve taken the dive…everything posted here suggests that I’ve made the right move, so I’ll report back with my answer to this question!
Okay, I’m clearly missing something…I downloaded it, but I have no idea what to look for to access the game itself! I’ve hit a wall, and the entire folder is just confusing me more…Please give me some guidance on why I can’t actually play it?!
Firstly, are you on a PC or a Mac? There are versions for each. It’s an obvious point, but make sure you have the right version.
The file you’ve downloaded should be a zip folder which you’ll need to uncompress.
I’m afraid I can’t be of much help if you’re using the Mac version as I don’t own a Mac, but it’s been tested by a number of Mac users and definitely works.
If you’re on a PC, you’ll have an application file in the folder called ‘WeightingGame’. Double click that and the game will run. If it won’t run, or the file isn’t there then you’ve probably got a corrupted download. I’d try downloading it again.
edit can you PM me a screenshot of the contents of the game folder? That may help.
Thanks. I’m on PC, thankfully, so I’ll double-check to see if it works this time. If it doesn’t, then like you said, I’ll re-do the download.
*Side note: Yeah, I got the wrong version, initially. Gotta go back and get the right one…
Haha I guess you found out the answer for yourself
that’s correct
I’m sorry to say, but it’s a really slow burn…and trying to start over for a different result (I don’t know if it’s even possible, but I assumed Rebecca was a romantic option-if so, it’d be a bit painful to try and get that to happen in the repeat playthrough I went to start. I’m not as patient as I’d like to be, sorry. Not likely to keep up with it over time…)
That said, I did love the puns, plus the reference to The Hobbit (sad that “I” didn’t get it, when real-world me caught on to the Tolkein joke right away). I’m definitely using the one about Dracula and Superman, but I was a little lost on the lobster one. England-specific joke, perhaps?
I’m sorry you think it’s slow paced, but that’s quite deliberate. Far too many weight gain games are along the lines of ‘character eats a couple of pieces of cake, character instantly gains 50 pounds’. I actually ran a poll on this subject on the Patreon page a while back and over 90% of responses said they felt the pacing was fine or if anything, too fast. I guess it’s impossible to please everyone
Rebecca, like everything else in the game, is work in progress. She’s a new addition, so if you’ve played to the end of the current content, you’ll have seen everything that’s in for her so far.
Oh, and the lobster joke? Kings Cross Station is a very famous railway station in London
*edited because I was half asleep when making the original post *
I am sorry for this stupid question, but i just can´t wait. When you plan release V0.3 for free. You mostly released previous version of game for free when new version is almost ready and you wrote here V0.4 will be ready in midle of June? I woluld like to support you, but i am out of money.
There won’t be any more free versions for a while, I’m afraid.
Ahh ok. that´s sad, but i understand that you spent a lot of time on it so it is just not stonks to give us free.
Just wanted to chime in here and say that the pacing has been great so far, imo. Definitely feels very natural which is a nice change of pace from a lot of other wg games, and that goes for the characters’ reactions as well. I think I just “finished” V3 and now I’m stoked for V4!
Remember, it is against the rules to ask for updates or when updates are going to be released. You can review them here:
Yeah, understood. Probably more realistic than I’m used to. It doesn’t help that she keeps ending up at the gym, but I get what the whole thing’s about, now that you’ve mentioned.
Ohh. Right. The near-equivalent would likely be something along the line of how authors get to and from New York by train, the answer being through Penn Station (sorry, I’m awful!)
Yeah, edits are fine, no worries! I can understand being a bit off due to lack of sleep.
Also: One of my own! I forgot to mention my response to the bit about Rebecca: If it becomes possible to make dating Alice from the start optional, I’d love to make it optional to meet Rebecca on Day 1 at work, and more regularly after that, if you’re, as it’s kind of obvious, not already in a relationship. Just throwing it out there. But my edit’s not even from lack of sleep, just lack of brain!
As with most games of this sort, it’s a trade-off between realism and fun. I’d like to slow the pace still further (and add a lot more elements to the gameplay to compensate), but being a one-man dev ‘team’ means this simply isn’t possible. I’d never get the game finished. Not to mention all the extra images would make the game even bigger than it already is. I’ll be surprised if 0.4 weighs in (sorry, couldn’t resist) at much less than 3GB and for a game of this sort, especially an unfinished one, that’s huge.
A few people aren’t great fans of the gym, but it is natural for a slim, althletic girl to go more often if she isn’t happy with her weight/appearance. I’ve actually tweaked this section a number of times and she visits a lot less frequently than she did in earlier versions of the game.
As for Rebecca, like everything else in the game, she’s work in progress. There will definitely be some more of her storyline in the next version. And there are no plans (at present) to make dating Alice optional from the outset. But I never say never!
I completely understand about realism vs fun and restraints due to development.
However in a perfect world with what you have supplied so far I think slowing down the pace would still work very well for this game and be excellent.
I feel like you could deliver this with the style and way you’ve gone about things.
Either way still really enjoying what you are putting out and eagerly await each update to see what is new and has been improved with each release! This is the sort of game I’ve always looked for and it tells you do too Tigger with the effort you are putting in. Keep it up!
I think the early game pacing is great, even on successive playthroughs. The first time, you’ll be able to more or less stumble into a majority of the content before she moves up from the first size, then during the second you see some hints of different reactions as she starts to let herself go. While you’re trying to figure out how to explore the different sequences, that progress naturally leads you up another size. At this point, she’s going to be eating an extra dessert at the cafe if you offer, you’ll be feeding her most of a chocolate bar, and you’re basically getting all of the extras when you go to look. This leads her to blow through this size rather quickly, at which point you get the diet sequence and things slow back down somewhat.
On successive playthroughs, you should have a feel for what to minmax to accomplish whichever goal you have. If you want to see the extra dessert at the cafe or other greedy scenes, you know which events to push to lead her toward taking extra food. If you’re simply wanting to move up to another size, that’s also somewhat easy to minmax. I appreciate the small change to giving her chocolate on the couch, since I think she can refuse if she’s totally stuffed. Before, you were able to get her to gain something like 11 pounds in a day if you knew which events to take, which is halfway to the next size event. While there is bound to be repetition when starting over, I feel like it’s much more tolerable in this game because you always have access to a variety of options.
Thanks for the replies, guys
I’m certainly not planning to alter the pacing of the early part of the game. It’s deliberately slow to reflect the fact that she’s a slim, athletic girl who simply doesn’t want get bigger. As the game progresses and it becomes a little easier to persuade her to increase how much she eats, her weightgain does speed up and I’ll be slowing this down a little. After all, the bigger someone gets, the more food it takes simply to maintain their weight, let alone continue growing.
