The Weighting Game - WIP

Easy enough… I’ll just render all the images at 4K instead of 1080, 300dpi instead of 96, CMYK instead of RGB, add a dollop of HDRI and save as .tiff files instead of compressed .png files.

Et voilà … 300MB+ per image instead of 3 :stuck_out_tongue:

Quick question regarding story progression for 0.4 final. What is the max weight scale of Alice? Unless this is the end of content, Alice remains at 180lb at day 75. Anyone here can help me out?

The game will tell you when you’ve hit the end of the current content.

maybe make those a seperate file when you finish the game as a gallery

The final version of the game will almost certainly have a gallery

In regards to save compatibility, have you looked at using renpy’s after_load special label to patch saves to allow you to add content into games, allowing people to use older saves. Depending on the complexity of the python variables added or existing ones updated, this actually seems to work fairly smoothly. The one problem is history related variables are hard or impossible to patch in. Missing variables can checked for and initialized a long with any changes to the game state being made inside that label before hand off to the last position in the game.

I had no idea this even existed. Not sure how useful it’ll be… I have A LOT of variables in my game, some of which are generated from other variables, which are generated from other variables… and it all gets very complicated :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll have a read up on it when I have more time though, and see if it’ll be helpful. Thanks for letting me know about it!

I was going to post an update on here anyway, so…

I was hoping 0.5 would be ready this week, but I’ve had a hell of a lot of real life work thrown at me, so I’ve not quite finished it yet. It’s 98% there, though. If testing goes okay, I’ll get it uploaded earlyish next week.

It’s going to be a big one. All the major characters have new scenes, most of the existing replayable scenes with Alice have been tweaked, there’s one new replayable scene and there are two possible endings. Lots of new images too. Almost 300 of them

Appreciate the heads up, Tiggertoo! :+1:

Tweaking and adding to the early game will certainly help make playing through the early stages again more appealing and fresh. Can’t wait go through it all again!

I’'m still undecided about doing this. The more stuff I add, the bigger and more complex it all gets and the more bugs are likely to creep in.

(There’s also the small fact that I’ve now played through the first stages of the game well over 500 times, and I’m utterly sick of it :stuck_out_tongue: )

I can say this watching the cafe scene over 600 times in a row is boring af, but after a while it’s funny to watch it just give up and break. A couple times I’ve had to start over because of just how many days I have gone through.

Here’s some proof for ya.

789 days?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? My record is about 150 and that was when I was deliberately stretching things out A LOT to see if anything would break :stuck_out_tongue:

The cafe scene is one that would certainly get tweaked though. Probably not imagewise, but in terms of text, to make it a bit less samey.

Sick, sorry didn’t realise it was against the rules to ask, but can see how it could get annoying. Sounds like you’ve been working hard on both fronts :joy:. Cool about every major character, was really getting into Becca and Hannah’s plots. Thanks for the update anyway!

Those are rookie numbers though as for fun I held down ctrl, spammed next hour and home, doing that without anything else netted me day 1842.

I meant in regards to the tweaks and new replayable scene in v5, but I totally get you. Replaying the game the 6 or 7 times I have can be a grind in itself.

Can’t even imagine how mind-numbing play testing it several hundred times must be. Especially when a full playthrough even rushing it through it is like, at least a few hours.

It’s isn’t a glamours task, but thanks for always being so thorough. Most of my playthroughs have been bug free thus far. Even in test versions!
