As the title says, if you’ve “Ignored” a user for whatever reason, topics made by them will still appear in the Latest feed (And maybe the others, but I don’t use them).
It’s annoying to see a new topic appear, only for it to be from a user you’ve ignored and having to manually mute the thread if you don’t want to see it bumped to the top again by others replying. Or even replies from that same ignored user.
This doesn’t seem like a useful intended behavior to avoid “missing out” either, as unlike replies there’s no way to temporarily display the body of the post without manually going and un-ignoring the user on the off-chance you ARE curious from the title alone.
I agree but I think this is more of an issue with the Discourse forum software than an issue with this specific forum that happens to be using it. I’m pretty sure it can probably be done by modifying the software but you’re probably better off asking on Discourse Meta.
Ya this is a common complaint for Discourse. People have been requesting a feature like this since 2020 but it sounds like their team is not interested in adding in that functionality.
It looks like there are work arounds using custom plugins to add in that functionality. If there is enough demand for this feature I would be happy to spend some time looking into some options for it.
If there’s a workaround and it’s not a major pain in the ass to implement it would be very much appreciated
I’m disappointed that this is intended behavior on Discourse’s part, because it’s not even an extra feature really, just a half-implementation of the Ignore feature’s own described functionality of “hiding all posts” from the user, which is why it must keep coming up
Their reasoning of wanting to avoid burying responses doesn’t hold much water to me, but that might be because WeightGaming is centered around back-and-forths and feedback with the OP rather than broader community discussions
