[Unpaid] Looking for art help for Pokémon Daycare-like game

The Game

A simulation-driven care game where personality dictates behavior.

This is a technical showcase of a Utility AI (i.e. what The Sims uses for AI) system built in Godot 4.6. While currently wrapped in a Pokémon skin, the core of the game is about managing creatures with distinct traits and emergent behaviors.

What’s in the Build?

  • Dynamic Decision Making: Watch as they choose between wandering or competing for resources, more will be added as development continues.

  • The Glutton Trait: Some creatures have “Commitment” modifiers, meaning they won’t stop a task (like eating) until it’s done, regardless of their hunger caps.

  • The Bully Trait: Some Pokémon will stop others from eating when they are around.

  • Cooking & Placement: A timing-based minigame to prepare berry dishes. Place them strategically within the navigation zones so your Pokémon can reach them.

  • Smart Navigation: Creatures dynamically search for the best resources placed by the player, prioritizing their favorite flavors while calculating the most efficient path.

What’s NOT in the Build?

  • Dynamic Events: Good relationships with different pokemon will lead to unique events (possibly narrative) that bring out opportunities for gameplay/art showcases.

  • Your Art: :disappointed_face: I’m currently using lifeless sprites due to me being incapable of doing any form of art.

  • A storyline: Still debating on this since I’m not too good at writing, but would love to have more pokemon join/leave to explore the relationships between them.

  • Your Ideas: They are not in it yet! What are you waiting for?

Artist & Theme Collaboration

The Pokémon theme was chosen because it fits the “creature care” mechanics I had in mind. However, I am not strictly tied to the Pokémon IP. If you are an artist with a strong vision for a different theme I am very open to pivoting the art style and setting to match an original aesthetic, provided I like it and it fits the “management and care” gameplay loop.

I am looking for one or more partners to help bring this world to life. If you’re interested in collaborating on a cozy project, let’s talk!

I would like to keep the game free with open donations that I will gladly share with artists, but it’s definitely not a paid job (as stated in the title).

EDIT: Realized I forgot to mention since I thought it would be obvious, this game is gonna be themed on weight gain, I’m not against vore/some other themes either, but of course, that requires art which I’m not able to provide, so artist preference and skills will be the deciding factor.

Unfortunately I’m not someone artistically/narratively skilled enough to help out. But just wanted to say that the core idea of the game itself seems to have quite the potential. And its a breath of fresh air to see a post on here about a potential game that has something to back it up, rather than just a bunch of loose ideas.

Thanks for answering either way! That build was a 2 day progress, so not much to see yet, but hopefully I’ll have some more to show next week!

Build updated on itch as of right now.
Added weight gain feature for glutton pokemon, currently using AI art as placeholder, mostly for testing purposes. Revamped menus to now be more usable with all features such as cooking etc.

Overall small update, didn’t have much time to work on the project this week, still hoping to get someone to collab as I really do not want to use ai generated art.
