also, i feel like a way the player could access Beatrice’s farm/house is immobilizing her so she cant stop you from doing so. just to throw an idea out.

Add me to the list of people who had trouble figuring out that the frogs eat different items. I think the main problem is that, unlike other NPCs, merchants don’t give a unique response to their favorite items (or at least I don’t remember getting any such response). Also, as far as I can tell, you can sell anything to the other merchants to make them gain weight, so it feels like a bit of a curveball for the frogs to require specific items.

I’ve started a guide for character preferences in this game. It’s a work in progress and anyone can add to it. Here’s the link: UTF Character Preferences 3.3.1 - Google Docs

I don’t know who, but somebody messed up the formatting of the guide. I had to fix it myself; hopefully whoever did that doesn’t come back…

How to plant a different seed I stuck on the potatoes

Scrolling selects different seeds.

I’m on a laptop with just a touchpad so any other options?

put both fingers on the laptop mousepad and move them up or down

any one got a list of recpies?

does Allison have any preferences or does anything work?

Alright, so I played a bit and I made a guide (if you want to call it that) for optimal planting methods for plants individually. I may try and add a sheet for different planting layouts with different seeds. Other than that, this should be helpful.

I personally didn’t notice any changes in growth speed regardless of what I sold to her. If someone else can confirm, it would be appreciated.

im fairly certain its depended on how much you sell to her, like she has milestones per weight

Yes, it depends on the value of the things you sell to her.

Normally farming-style games aren’t my favorite, but I found myself really enjoying this one! The sprites are simple, but effective and the animations and dialogue are great. I just got done with Quinn’s sidequest, and I have a few comments:

  • As others have said, there isn’t enough to do during the day. The most activity I was doing at once was when I was farming Crabbages for Noah whilst simultaneously feeding Frank (I found this convenient because Crabbages take four hours to grow, and for some reason Frank can only receive gifts every four hours, as opposed to other NPCs who reset every two hours. I guess sea slugs just digest more slowly?) and even then it was just sporadic bursts of harvesting, feeding, and running from place to place before I sat in one spot for three more hours. The Gapples would help a bit with this if they didn’t take so long to refresh, and fishing would be a good option if there were something more to do with the fish.

  • Speaking of fishing, the visual indicator for when a fish is on the line is just a little too subtle. It works when the fish is slightly to the side of the hook like they’re supposed to be, but if you have to grab a fish from a weird spot, they can often sit directly under the hook as opposed to beside it. Something like a ripple effect would be nice here.

  • It’s a bit odd that Rebecca is so closely guarding a farm with nothing in it. Maybe put some random crops in there? This could also be used as a hint for what food to bring her. I was thinking either have a bunch of Honions in there since those are her favorites, or maybe every crop except Honions, the implication being that she can’t grow them for whatever reason.

  • Quinn’s house is a bit bare for someone with an expensive mansion. The left room on the bottom floor in particular seems to have literally nothing in it.

  • I don’t really see a reason why you have to hit E to harvest the crops and pick them up. It seems like it would be easier to have them shooped into your inventory automatically, rather than holding down a button to do it. Maybe this is a technical limitation?

  • A recipe book would be nice, especially if you’re planning on adding more. I’m bad at remembering things and I don’t want to waste all my ingredients. Maybe you could get a spare one as a reward from Noah? On that note, there needs to be a way to trash items. I feel horrible whenever I screw up a cooking recipe and have to give the Glop to some poor unsuspecting passerby just to clear out my inventory.

  • It would be neat to be able to visit the frogs when they’re off work. Currently the house of whichever one isn’t working is enterable, but empty.

cool i like this thing

Loving this game, all of the sprites are precious. I really like that the player can plump up the NPCs so much while still being able to get fat too
