Update to the AI tag/Tagging Generative Content, Site Feedback, and Continuing Reorg

Good day everyone!

I wanted to do a quick update on the forums reorg, and this one will be really important for any users who are filtering posts by the ai tag.

AI tag will be replaced with the gen-ai and the genai-* tags

The ai tag has been used to general mark any generative content in projects, but this has been a poor tag for doing so as within game dev AI can mean much more then just generative content. Along with that I have seen other dev communities start to have issues with the term AI being generalized to generative content as it has lead to devs getting accused of using/wanting to use generative content when they where talking about or asking a more generalized AI question like pathing, decision trees, utility AI (like what is in the sims), ect.

Due to this I have decided the ai tag will be replaced with the more descriptive gen-ai and genai-* tags to indicate if a project uses generative ai or if a discussion is about generative ai. @Krodmandoon and I are slowly going through the projects and bringing them up to spec. Once we are done there we plan on removing the ai tag from all posts that have to deal with generative ai. The ai tag will then be limited to Dev Advice > Programming and Game Design Discussion.

This is a particularly important thing to note for anyone who is filtering out generative ai using the ai tag as they will want to make sure they update their tag filters before we finalize the changes. If you are interested in the new tags they can be found in the tags page under Generative Content Disclosure and Generative Content for more specific tags.

Update to Forum > Site Feedback

I got a chance to sit down and talk with @Krodmandoon and they brought up some good points about the voting setup in Forum > Site Feedback. While voting was a good way for me to get a glance is an idea has community support or not, Krod made some good points that it could lead to false positives and negatives since it really only allowed those who where in support of an idea an easy way to show it and we had to interpret any push back against an idea by looking at the votes, views, and general size of the site.

Due to this we have disabled votes and instead are forcing all new posts in Forum > Site Feedback to be a voting post where people in favor of a suggestion can upvote it and those against it can down vote it making it much easier for the community to share their general opinions on an idea without having to reply to the post.

I do have some concern that the threat of down voting may discourage some people from posting ideas or feedback, but I do agree with Krod that having a firmer grasp on the communities overall support for an idea out weighs this downside.

General updates on the reorg

At the moment I have updates every post in Dev Advice and Job Board with the exception of Dev Advice > Programming which I plan on comming back around to latter. All old posts in Dev Advice have been locked just to ensure all new posts are using the new voting posts and avoid confusion by users as to why some active posts have it and others do not.

While Dev Advice should now be fairly stable, there are a few categories I am considering removing or messing around with, but I have not come to a decision on how to handle them yet. I am also considering moving Game Design Discussion into Dev Advice but I am still chewing it over.

For right now I have moved onto working on Table Top Games and getting that cleaned up so expect to see things getting messed around with and changed in there.

Once I am done with Table Top Games I plan on moving to General Games > Mods and getting that one sorted out.

I know these disruptions have been a bit of a pain so I would like to thank you all for your patience! If you have any suggestions feel free to throw them into Forum > Site Feedback and if you hit any issues please make a post in Forum > How to/Help.

There appears to be two categories of tags which have the same contents.

They are the same tags, that is used to make those tags available in Projects if the gen-ai tag is present on a topic
