Weigh Wars: A Belly-Based Card Game (proof of concept)

A little project I’ve been working on for a hot minute, I love card games of all sorts and I feel like I haven’t seen an interesting one on this forum so I decided to give it a shot. I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place but the Tabletop section seems to be locked.

Weigh Wars! The name is a work in progress, as are the rules and cards. Mostly I wanted to put this out there to have some more eyes looking at it. I like coming up with rules and I like figuring out proper wording but I have no editor and no one in my actual life I could show something this degenerate to.

The mechanics are heavily based on the game Smash Up by Alderac Entertainment Group. If you’ve never played that I’d seriously recommend it, but that’s the general loose vibe I’m going for here.

Here are some examples of cards:

I’m not very good at the art angle but I really didn’t want to just steal other people’s art for this game. However, if anyone wants to contribute art to any of the cards or tables on the Cards and Tables list, feel free! I don’t care about any kind of consistent art feel for this project as long as it looks better than what I can do.

Ultimately I’d like to make these cards and then port them into Tabletop Simulator for playtesting but that is a very long-term goal. Right now I’m just trying to drum up interest and discussion.

Is it going to be based on any existing card game systems, eg MTG?

The closest game to compare it to would be Smash Up or Marvel Snap, in that the object is to gather power on tables (which are essentially bases) and score that way. Other influences include the Pokemon TCG (Energy in that game is close to how Mana works in Weigh Wars) and MtG (with styles acting sort of like the colors).

I hope this gets seen by more people

hey hello I’m a guy who likes to draw fat women and I saw your idea of a card game and out of curiosity or tried to make a card laid by you in my style (it’s just the character but if you like it we could see to go deeper)

This is absolutely awesome and exactly what I’ve been looking for! My ultimate goal it to have lots of people contribute art to the project if possible so if you’re willing to let me use this (it looks a lot better than what I’m capable of, as you can see).

hey hello, I really appreciate your compliments and I wanted to know if by any chance you wanted to talk more specifically because I also read the word documents and I wanted to give some ideas as a pocket player and former snap player, if I wanted I could have other pin-ups such as playing cards

Yeah for sure, if you want to DM me any ideas or feedback you have I very much welcome anything you can give me.

No progress on the game itself but I wanted to give a small update seeing as how some people are watching this post now. I’ve drawn up a couple more cards for my own use, again if anyone wants to contribute art or discuss mechanics from the documents I check here every now and then. Thanks for the positive feedback so far!
