Regrettably, I have made the decision to cancel this game. Its my first attempt at making a game and I got too ambitious with it in some ways. It has however been a great learning experience. I’m already working on a new project taking those lessons. A lot of what went into WCG will go into its successor. Call it a reboot if you like. I’ve done a quick test as proof of concept and I think the follow up will be much better and closer to my original vision. I had a blast with making this. Part of me wants to carry it on still, but my heart just isn’t in it. I enjoy writing and initially it was great to have a writing project to sink my teeth into but the way I’d structured this it had become a chore. If you enjoyed this, then thank you for playing, and keep an eye out in the days ahead where I’ll hopefully have something to show off from my next project.

Here’s a brief rundown of the project scope:

Embark on an extraordinary odyssey in “Weightcraft Chronicles: Genesis,” where your journey begins as a seemingly ordinary individual in the magical realm of Eldorin. In the initial stages, players find themselves on a predetermined path, gradually uncovering latent talents as a weight crafter.

As the protagonist, you are drawn into the prestigious Mage Academy, specializing in the ancient art of Weightcraft. Guided by seasoned mentors, you’ll undergo mage training, honing your skills to manipulate weight and unravel the secrets of this mystical craft. The academy serves as a crucible where your character discovers their innate abilities, setting the stage for the transformative journey ahead.

Intriguingly, the narrative unfolds to reveal an untapped dimension of magical prowess – flesh crafting. As you progress through the storyline, the latent potential within you blooms, granting access to the profound art of molding not just weight but the very essence of physical form. This revelation marks a pivotal moment, expanding the scope of your magical repertoire and influencing the trajectory of your interactions with the characters and the world.

The game delicately balances the narrative railroading in the early stages, ensuring a seamless integration with the discovery of your magical talents. The Mage Academy becomes a pivotal hub, serving not only as a training ground but also as a nexus for relationships, choices, and the unfolding saga of your character’s destiny.

CHANGE LOG HIGHLIGHTS

  • Added Quest Log

  • Characters added in this update will get a Profile Picture on the relationships page. It might not be accurate to the body - what works well for a portrait doesn’t always translate well to full body reliant as I am on AI generated art. I’ll try match them when I can - but sometimes I get a profile pic I really like but can’t make it work.

  • With the addition of Quests, modified the relationships page so that you don’t know a character’s “Type” until you disover it in their relationship quest line.

  • Added 14 new characters to the game.

  • Added many scenes throughout the world.

  • A new title page image

  • Reworked some of the existing artwork and restructured file paths to be more organised

  • Added the first branching story path - its possible to get a game over.

  • Finally added another scene to finish the introduction for poor neglected Thorne - all main characters have now been given introductory scenes.

  • Updated quests page for all relationship quests, added 2 new quests and included a few ways to progress a couple of the story quests.

  • Updated passages to inform you when you have a new quest, or there has been an update to a quest. Currently, this does not effect dynamic updates such as relationship levels, or Weightcraft proficiency level changing. You will only have a notification within a passage where a “planned” update happens.

  • Updated all character appearance pages

  • A few minor bug fixes, updated road map - Release of Chapter 5 - Many Meetings

First comment, I guess, or at least if I’ve not been pipped at the post.

The style and visuals of the novel look rather promising, but it is a little large and awkward, with a lot of back-and-forth unit shifting between screens. I also came to a point where I was frozen and unable to continue after choosing my profession as two errors came up. One saying Set does not exist, the other saying Print does not exist.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the layout is a little clunky. I’ll patch that down the line as QOL fix - sooner rather than later. Focus has been on content rather than the formatting.

Yeah, I know the error you mean. It’s already fixed for 0.1D that I’m working on. Not sure how I missed it in the testing - I think it only came up for one particular gender option. Though you’re not really missing much in 0.1C with that error. That version ends on the next screen if memory serves. I’ve done a lot of work on 0.1D since I uploaded lol.

Not quite sure what you mean about the back and forth unit shifting between screens, can you clarify please for future updates?

FYI your images don’t appear on computers running case sensitive file-systems like linux(what i use). Make sure you match the case of your folder and files in your twine games to have images appear for players on systems using case sensitive file-systems.

For example:

damn it, I literally just ran into this.

Sorry about that - I had no idea that was a thing. I’ll go patch that just now or I will forget about it later and test it again and go “yep, I can see the image so it works”. Thanks for the report.


Game looks promising so far, but I did notice these relatively minor errors on the last page.

Thanks for the feedback - I’ve patched that already for V 0.1D that I’m aiming to get out at the end of the day tomorrow. I keep forgetting that operators are case sensitive and fall back on “Start statements with a capital letter” as you would in normal writing.

I can’t Pin the top post unfortunately, but as promised, before the end of the day V0.2 has now been released on my Patreon V. 0.2 on Patreon and on Itch.io V. 0.2 on Itch.io - both have a devlog/changelog as well as in game so I’m not going to post that here. I’ll also have a poll up on Patreon soon with what I should work on next. Hope everyone enjoys this update - its been a blast working on this so far!

You can edit your OP though, and a short section with a list/history of date, release version, and link can be very helpful for anyone following the game to see if there’s a new download without trawling the topic.

I’m wondering because of the Tf tag if there will be furry elements added to the game, are you planning on that or is that in reference to some other form of Tf

Yeah there’s at least two anthro characters already planned - to a degree anyway. By which I mean they’re definitely in the plan and I’m definitely making them at some point but I still need to develop them further. There’s a cow girl and a pig girl I’ve got on the list, a couple of other transforms I’m still toying with and will probably have a poll at some point about other characters when I get to the end of my currently planned for sure ones. There’s also a few non animal transforms I’ve got planned. Succubus for one. Hopefully by the time I’m done there’ll be something for everyone in here.

Do you plan for the player to be able to feed any male NPCs in the future?

That’s not currently planned sorry. Not really my thing. That being said, by the time the project is finished I said I hoped to have a little something for everyone and I stand by that so if there’s enough demand for it I’m open to including it further down the line with what’s already planned.

On reflection- there are some caveats to that open mindedness. I won’t do bodily fluids besides sexual fluids. Blood and sweat may be in there but not as kink content more incidental. Out right beasting (animal people yes animals no) is also out along with anything with underage. Non consensual acts are probably out as well - but the line is not so hard on that. It would very very much depend on the context and the particular act in question.

Thanks for the bug report - think I’ve fixed it. There was a “ inside a print macro that shouldn’t have been there. Given the minor nature of this I’m not going to do a bug fix release yet unless someone finds more bugs. But it’s already corrected for the next full release.

Sorry for double posting - just for awareness I’ve put an open “shopping list” for flesh crafting option requests for player modification up on my Patreon. There’s quite a substantial list I’m already working on that I’ve come up with though as I discovered earlier today there were somethings I completely forgot about that in hind sight were obvious.

I’ve hit a couple of snags in production - if there are any good coders that can help it would be much appreciated. Boils down to getting mana to regenerate over time and conditional image display. If I can get those two problems sorted it won’t take much longer to get version 4 out.

Update: managed to solve the problems. Turns out I suck at maths for the time problem. And as for the conditional image problems - logic order.

For anyone interested- and not reading the dev logs on Itch - I’m about a couple weeks off (I think) from the next update. Sadly, I’ve made the decision to trim it down from what I had planned. It’s still a pretty massive update. And nothing has been cut per se - all the features I’d said would be included in this update will be present. I’m trimming some of the character interactions back a bit for this release and will finish them off for the next update. So once I finish off the story block I’m working on and tie off a few loose ends there will be a release. I need to take a break before I burn out - and I’m enjoying this too much to risk that - but want to get something out before I go on a short hiatus to play some games and chill before getting stuck into Chapter 5 (and finishing off Chapter 4 cut content)

@Fox_Boi - you’re getting your first potential furry in the coming update. I say potential as its player choice. Can “complete” her arc without transforming her.

@DoubleBubble - I’m sorry to say while you did inspire me to include a male character feedee (actually a mutual gainer - and another potential furry) and he is in the game his content ended up on the cutting floor for this coming update beyond his introduction.

I’ve already got some exciting ideas for the next update (that weren’t in the original plan but seems good to add them now while there are relatively few characters to retroactively apply one of the major changes to).
