WG-Related Lost Media

Some of this isn’t really game-related, but is noteworthy regardless.

For starters, folks like FunkyStrong and CriticalVolume were looking for a piece of Lost Media that seems almost non-existent involving an explosive inflation scene in an unknown anime that aired on what is known today as SyFy. Another is a game that was pulled from Itch that I can remember due to a Trojan virus (which I would say could’ve been a false positive). Yet another is an SSBB mod loosely based on a screenshot showing Peach without her skirt having become pudgy but has since disappeared from Brawl Vault.

And yes, NONE of these are covered by the Lost Media Wiki (save for Hachi Koi, I think, which does feature a chubby pink-haired girl).

Heck, there’s a lot of vanished artists from the scene whose own works can be considered lost media.
They leave, scrub their pages, and it’s like they never existed.

Well, part of the issue is that it’s not much to go off of. Syfy has aired numerous anime over the years. Wikipedia has a list of anime that’s aired on Syfy, so they can at least start searching there if they remember the name. The fact that it was on Syfy tells me they licensed the show and it’s likely archived somewhere. As even really obscure anime like Midnight Horror School has been archived.

The same thing goes for the game that got pulled from itch.io. Being pulled doesn’t narrow it down by much and some more detail would help. Also, Itch.io allows developers to restrict access to their games/comics with varying degrees. For instance, all of redfrog563 interactives are invisible to the public on itch.io. You need to have a link to their user page or direct link to the interactive to play their stuff. If you know the name of the dev, you could find the game on their user page.

I don’t know much about console modding, so I can’t say much about it. But I can say that the vanishing artists most likely has to do with “Why Fandoms Can’t Have Nice Things”. To summarize, fans can get extremely entitled and abusive to the point where artists just leave completely.
