We don’t typically do that here. I think the new rule changes sort of allow that behavior, but I’ve already forgotten the exact new rule and (like you) I can’t be bothered to actually read the site rules.

In this case your comment was hidden just until the flag could be reviewed. This is an automatic thing that happens when certain flags are used or a post is flagged multiple times.
As for why someone flagged your post, since for the longest time we had a hard no asking for updates rule I am sure they where just unaware the we changed that up with the new rules.
