I’d be lying if I didn’t say that’s a very pretty interface. And despite the fact that I technically live in a metric country, I definitely prefer inches and pounds for measurements. I typically have a calculator app open while playing, just to convert the metric to measurements I understand.
While imperial descriptions can be more interesting than metric, trying to natively calculate measurements in imperial rather than metric can complicate calculations within the game. For example, I noticed the rebuild tracks inches and feet as two distinct variables.
Some of it can be worked around eg; calculating in inches alone and adding code to automatically convert that within ingame text, but that isn’t much less work than would be needed to allow toggling between metric and imperial. Especially since that lets you use the existing code instead of a total rewrite.
The rebuild only tracks inches and feet as two distinct variables because I’ve been learning Ren’Py (and Python) as I go. There’s a lot of repeat weirdness as I’ve been trying to figure out scope and how certain things work, but the intent has always been to keep everything enclosed in instances of the Person class. (EDIT: And about halfway through coding things, I realized that I screwed up the classes and calls, which is why there’s some weird stuff with the closet and the pantry.)
And I’ll be adding in a switch for Metric/Imperial in the future. It’s not something I wanted to do right away, because I was only making examples at first before deciding (after talking to the game’s original creator) to remake the game. There’s a lot of clean-up and refactoring that has to get done.
That UI is super clean looking.
The edited version is nifty and sleek, multiple issues did come up. Some you know you left, like no mirror and no scale, there are a few that have to be pointed out. I’m sure you’ve caught them.
Trying to rest causes an error, but it can be ignored. Though you will be stuck in that loop until you run out of actions, and even then, once the day is over, a softlock happens where the next day never comes.
There’s medicine in the bathroom that causes you to grow taller. It costs only $2k though if you use it (which you can on easy difficulty, haven’t tried it on others yet), you gain it’s effects and RECEIVE 2k from it. Lots of events don’t work and that’s fine. The opening is quite a better fresh of air compared to the other.
To anyone reading this, stick with the original for now, and keep an eye on Jarl’s remake (or a new project all entirely which I’d be excited for).
Also purple eyes. I’m easy to win over when purple eyes are added as a choice.
I have a question: Are there any cheats in the game?
There are a few means of cheating ren’py games, including this one, but the most effective ones involve decompiling & patching (similar to what I used to make my jank translation ages ago) and therefore aren’t something I’m going to link to or share here.
e: In other words, while you can add cheats to the game, it doesn’t have cheats built-in.
Oh okay then thank for explaning
For this remake, how do I eat? I can’t seem to find it.
If you open up the main scripts file, then there are some commented out test options.
The part that bugs me the most in the remake is a)the infinite loop on day’s end, and b)the library and town hall both do the same thing. The missing events/locations are fine, since it’s early days, and even the library/town hall thing is for the most part, but you need to be able to progress to the next day for anything to really happen.
in any future update will have a character image to view?
Thank you (and sorry). The issues with the meds (and pretty much everything else) are because I’m trying to share things as soon as I complete them, so that the code is available. I understand people are interested, and I’m flattered, but for me, this has always been about developing reusable screens/sequences for future Ren’Py games. The last update I made was published right before I left for the holidays, hence why there’s all sorts of issues (that I’m now fixing).
Yes, a million times this. My code is and always will be free for anyone to use on anything else they want to make, and I can even help you make a new game out of it.
As I said above in the thread, this isn’t meant to replace the original game, simply to use the original’s content to help develop things for future Ren’Py devs on this forum. It’s an extremely early build, hence the issues. Sorry.
With regards to the original game, I have no idea. If this is regarding my version: no. I’m not at all capable of drawing anything, so I don’t even have the ability to try.
However, if anyone is interested in doing this, it’s quite simple to display images and swap out different pieces to build a character. The hardest part is getting everything drawn, because that would be a lot of work to draw all of the different body parts for each character’s various weights - the coding is actually pretty simple and something that could be done easily.
EDIT: Also, if anyone is interested, I use Trello to do everything in my personal and professional lives, so I made the board I’m using public: Trello
Once you’ve got the Person class down and all the descriptions implemented, I could probably whip up a basic paper doll system, although it’d be made pretty much entirely of kisekae2 art. I’d probably have to make some sacrifices on height and skin tones, though, or else it’d end up being like half a gig of files by the time it’s all said and done.
i must say that i really like the interface much better
Thank you. If you’d like, we can talk about it in the game’s Discord channel. I won’t be able to start on it until I’m done with the current stuff on my Trello board.
Thank you. The assets are free to use if anyone here on the forum would like to use them for anything else.
===========================
Working on a new build now, hope to have it done by tonight or tomorrow. If anyone would like to keep up to date on things and download things as I implement them, I recommend the game’s Discord channel, as I don’t want to continue to pollute this thread, if possible.

It seems that if you end a game badly (die) and start a new one, the game simultaneously thinks you own things you don’t (a PC, various Properties), but also knows you never bought them and breaks the first time you sleep since that creates a conflict in the code.
so I just got the game and having some problems with health and wellbing anyone mind helping out:?
You can drink water and eat some fruit regularly, and if I remember well you can take a walk sometimes which is good for health. If you do this, your health should slowly get higher.
