When it comes to RPGMaker MV/MZ games, as long as you don’t package the files in anything, pretty much every release is a fully-edittable build. You can always just dump the files from your released build into a new project and you can start back from that point in time. You may have to unencrypt your image and audio files, but otherwise everything else works fine.
