Thanks for the reply.

I haven’t played that much yet, but man, this game has some really dark stuff that to be honest was a little uncomfortable, but I’m getting intrigued on the backstory of the main characters. For me, this game has a lot of ā€œare we the bad guys?ā€ energy but also has quite a lot of moral dilemmas bewteen them since at least to me they aren’t evil per se, but their methods are very questionable. A very interesting premise that I can’t wait to unravel as I keep playing.

Ok beaten update, I am not sure what the ticket is for on heather bet but unless you choose your games well you won’t be able to complete them at time. Took me 2 tries

Always happy to hear a long ramble! Heck many of the best scenes in game are the long rambles as I just enjoy two characters playing off one another as long as possible.

It’s easy to be happy when times are good, so this was the first real test of the ā€œall-newā€ Gretel when forced to face an ugly problem on her own, though she did thankfully have plenty of supporters from Lily and in town to cheer her on.

And Gretel proved mostly up to the task! She had some moments of ā€œrelapseā€ into her angry or self-hating persona, but through it she was able to get through to Sebastian.

Haha, yeah Lily was just shy of having to set up a whole parent trap scenario to get them back together! And you’re right, Lily is more mature than most realize, even herself.

I think I’m realizing myself as I made these last updates is that part of the reason for her immaturity is that she often has Sebastian and Gretel around to handle the maturity for her, they take things seriously enough that she really doesn’t need to, and if she makes a mess they are around to clean it up. So when 1 or both of them ā€œstops being matureā€ Lily has to put her own ā€œlilynessā€ aside and show her own mature side.

I don’t mean to say that the others are ā€˜holding her back’ Lily LIKES being free to do Lily stuff, but when push comes to shove, if needed she knows to put it on hold and is ready to really step up.

On the first point, I do love a good contrast! Probably can be seen (perhaps too much) as I almost always mention a contrast to the past whenever describing a character’s new weight gain. But it just always makes weight gain feel better to me! And not only just the weight, seeing the staggering transformation of character’s attitudes has always been fun for me. I highly recommend anyone who hasn’t done so in awhile to play the first hour of a new game, to see just how far a lot of these characters have come!

Fun fact about the Ed and Al thing, that scene outside their door was actually a last second addition! I was replaying looking for bugs, and couldn’t help but feel like Gretel let those two off WAY too easy, and wanted to add in more, so had Dana and Fresha give their perspectives on it.

But for this and the other examples you listed of the towns people being able to help the Apostles I’m glad the feeling got through!

One of the main philosophies of the Apostles is to not just help the towns they visit, but to help it become ā€œself-sufficientā€ and able to return to the world the generosity they had been given.

Like with Lily helping Veronica stand up to Vinny the Red last update. Sure, Lily could have sent him packing to Timbuktu with her red voice, but she wanted her Mistress to have the skills and confidence to deal with things like that herself, if a ā€˜new Vinny’ ever showed up in town in the years after the Apostles leave.

Same goes for Gretel, with her powers she could just dump food and resources on the town so that no one wants for anything, but she wants them to have more, not just being happy through endless hedonism but to have empathy and care for others, and a willingness to be there for any lost travelers who come to town in need.

And this philosophy ends up being what saves Gretel here, as the previously walled of Dana, Fresha, and Sam are there to help her in her time of need.

I’m glad that was a stand out section for you! I was worried that Clair’s story with the parody Apostles might come across an unwanted diversion to people who just want to focus on Auburnwoods.

I have a lot more planned with them, so I hope the side story with them continues to engage!

Aging does count as an attack, you’re correct! So would drowning and starvation, so even if he falls into a DEEP well, he’ll be fine!

For harmful knowledge, if you mean like Sebastian’s mind control type stuff, that would be blocked. However he is not immune from getting his feelings hurt when his ultra super best friend Sebastian yells at him again, so that’s his one weakness!

He really is meant to be the ā€œone punch manā€ of ultra defense. His armor breaks all rules of fair power scaling or whatnot, it will block EVERYTHING

Oooh, interesting theory! Won’t say anything on this one!

Yay! I’m so glad Dana, Fresha and the couples of Auburnwoods were such a point worthy of praise! Life in the village is becoming very different in a lot of ways, and I think that will really set the vibe for the summer months!

Dang, while show casing Lily as ā€œaloneā€ wasn’t my intended direction with her for this update, I can’t deny what you’re saying on this one. I’ll have to think if I should work that in as a more pronounced plot thread going forwards! Thank you for the insight it is a good food for thought.

This one was very much an intentional juxtaposition! Sebastian is handling the parody Apostles so slowly and cautiously to the point of near inaction out of fear for unintentional consequences/collateral damage, while Clair is bulling on ahead through them quickly and recklessly, indifferent to the risk of collateral and seeming to almost enjoy the consequences.

Neither approach is truly the best, but it’s up to the audience to decide which one is the better of the two.

All credit goes to Rift-Ninja on that art! It was an incredible piece to be sure! They perfectly showed what that moment was meant to be, a soft moment of relaxation and catharsis as two old friends were able to just sit by and relax for awhile.

So glad this one is appreciated as this one is in the running for my favorite pairing (though obviously stiff competition!) Some characters, even though I like them, are sometimes hard to think of and create scenes for, but for Jacob and Maya I usually have to narrow down and cut back on the scenes, I like writing them so much! It’s a fun dynamic, where Maya is the one pushing the desires, but at the same time wants to play the role of both Pamperer and submissive to Jacob whose ā€œindifferenceā€ to fat is slowly being chipped away!

Haha, another contender for favorite, like I said stuff completion! Veronica going from shy and miserable, just allowing herself to being a punching bag, to becoming her full Mistress self, is one of my favorite character arcs! And I know Cj loves the couple as well, and that probably came across in the sprites!

I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed Dina as well! She’s definitely going to be a love her or hate her type! I had some good help by a slob expert who gave some pointers and wrote some of Dina’s lines so I’m glad it all worked well!

And Lily’s EVIL plot to sell off slob girl bathwater and make a fortune, might be one of my own personal favorite gags.

Dina should be fun in the future, a controversial character to be sure, but one that will always stand out from the rest!

You know me, I do love big buttz! And now they are really getting BIG among the ladies, Sam and Heather need to catch up to Asma pronto!

Thank you so much, the Castle of the Red Witch may be perhaps my favorite section in game, though that might just be new content bias!

But I just had so much fun with the concept and putting so many moving pieces together. There are TONS of little secrets and obscure interactions that I hid in there for players to stumble upon!

That castle also probably breaks the records of the most events I’ve put in a single map, with more than 500+ if I recall.

And if forbidden black magic is CJ’s secret, I’ll look the other way and allow it!

Thank you again for such a well written out and thoughtful review! It’s been a ton of fun to read yours, and everyone else’s view of the update, and seeing the different perspectives they have given to it!

And don’t worry Father Zep will play his part during Steph’s feast!

Now that i think of it i have two theories that took me a bit to think about

why is sebastian so opposed to L knowing about Willow being Gretel a.k.a de apostle of wrath? my theory is that Willow had something to do with the death of L’s loved ones and shes one of sebastian’s patients like Gretel/Willow is and telling her might cause her to bypass the mental walls sebastian put in place to keep her stable.

second is that clair the black is already the apostle of envy and is not entirely aware of it. of the saviours she’s the only one that isnt blessed by a magic piece of armor or the white elf bloodline, her comment towards her sister doesn’t seem like it came out of nowhere and even if it was influenced by the lantern, it doesnt have material to pull from other than clair. whats funny is that in her disregard for the consequences for the sake of progress in the battle against the mysterious force driving the pseudo apostles shes also endangering her companions both by drawing real, tangible danger by playing the role of an averge woman while unnanounced to them and by using the armors blessing to take away undesired results onto jean luc meaning there’s some vague subconscious resentment towards the two that make her disregard their safety. in a way it fits her perfectly. keeping the lantern and later using it for ā€œa better useā€ is a great way to display envy. ā€œyou are unworthy of the seat of your power,i will give it better use even if it becomes my crux.ā€ thats textbook envy even if she sisnt mean for it to be. in the end the member of the saviours that has to overcompensate her lack of blessings with training and discipline ends up using the weapon of the enemy.

I am almost at midnight and the way this made me go from dead tired to waking up like a sleeper agent because I cannot escape these two numbers. Also I want to take the time to say this update is absolutely amazing, and I appreciate every second of this. Thank you so much for making this game, and I am looking forward to each and every update.

Awesome! Glad to have you intrigued! Morally…complicated characters are Apostle’s bread and butter.

Paraphrasing an analogy I once read from another author, before they even break out their chisels when sculptors choose their rocks they look for the ones that have the most beautiful flaws.

I read that recently, but that’s how I think I approach Apostles writing, perfect characters will get boring, characters with their own ā€œbeautiful flawsā€ make them intriguing!

And sorry if the start of Apostles is a bit light on fats! Don’t worry that snowball will start rolling soon and pick up momentum fast!

Thanks for playing! I’m okay with the Heather test being a bit tough, as really there’s no big difference between winning and losing on this one. The tone really was for the group to have a fun low stakes larp.

Though if you want the SECRET to the doors, the animal symbols relate to the Zodiac race. With the order of the animals in the race being the order I think the test is most easily solved in:The rat, first place, is the chicken test, which needs speed.
The rabbits, 4th place, would be the one Mauve tells you to do, and also needs speed.
Snake and Horse were 6th and 7th place, and they are the Dark Ghost puzzle and the Maze Puzzles, which while better skinny, can be done as fat.
Rooster is 10th place, the 1-step puzzle, where there is no advantage to being thin
Pig is 12th place, last where the test is actually easier the fatter you are.

Oooh, two fun theories to read! Won’t give anything away but both were enjoyable to read! Seeing others put their own perspective on guesses for the future is always cool to see!,

lol I can’t escape the numbers.

And thank you for the kind words! Every update is a labor of love, and near the end I ALWAYS have the doubts that the update will end up being disappointing! I’m always so relieved to be proven wrong every time with the kind words from the community!

Personally in my case easiest is to do chicken first (most annoying especially when some chick run on you, (also if you could make colors bit more noticable as I think light grey looks a lot as dark grey which can lead to errors).
As for solution: Eating test should be done last with ā€œroom puzzle questā€ funny enough being to fast lead me to make mistakes in puzzle and while at 2nd try I finished all on 5th call of game bell, i still got bad at ghosts like 2 times and on plate puzzle 1 time

Additionally, technically player can cheat a bit. Holding fast forward key (enter or alt) speeds Sebastian dialogues and animations like e.g. showing rabbit dash giving you some extra seconds). And technically you can do trials without Sebas talking in most games meaning once you know rules you can replay them in faster time not bothering to talk to Sebas (would be funny if he mentioned it like e.g.: ā€œHow did you know what the game rules were without talking to me first?ā€)

Edit 1: Also considering Bill ā€œvoreā€ scene and Cynthia suggesting ā€œeatingā€ Laurel would we get more of this stuff? Perhaps Gretel eating fake wrath apostle? I am asking as vore is one of my kinks

Edit 2: For idea of Heather telling Sebas truth that she is being control by ā€œEldritch Beingā€ from world outside Sebas would get skeptical but not really denying it. Perhaps asking Cynthia about it and Cynthia would mention something about ā€œinvisible wallsā€ (4th wall).

I like this theory. My first thought is that it’s interesting but misses the fact that becoming an Apostle requires the death of someone close, typically a family member or lover.

I don’t think she’s had a lover that she would be that close to and Alex is very much alive. I’ll have to think about this…

I think my total playtime is 60 hours, my current save file says 45 hours but there was that one update that broke save compatibility so I couldn’t carry over my original save file which I think was around 20 hours.

I’ve finally finished the 0.12 update after playing it most of last week.

This update was very good.

Seeing the characters of Auburnwoods again is very heartwarming. I like how ā€œrealā€ the villagers feel as people, or I guess the characters in general.
I enjoyed spending a pleasant, full day with Dana and Fresha the widows. I’m also a sucker for wholesome romances so I thought the Maya and Jacob, plus Pamela and Greg scenes were very sweet and hot.
On the other hand, I thought the scenes with Dina were absolutely disgusting and repulsive. I had to turn my head away, plug my nose, and avert my vision! Although it was nice getting little flashback glimpses for Dana and Fresha, and it seems like they are trying to move forward in life after getting beaten down by existing in a WaxeRed setting. I like this kind of emotional drama with ups and downs.
The head explosions with Clair were funny. I’ll always enjoy a good head explosion. Thomas continues to be mysterious, although he seemed quite cheerful in the past. Gretel’s size at this point is…oooph, big…I’m glad she had a nice moment with Sebastian instead of the update ending on a sour note. The biggest mystery however is…when will ā€œbusinessā€ be spelled correctly?? I think the success rate was still less than 50%.

There’s a lot more that happened of course, but I just wanted to share some of my small feelings at least.

I remember making a similar post to this. If it’s deliberate then I’m glad I could contribute.

Haha, I’ll have to think about that, but it sounds like a fun idea! Currently there is already some dialogue where he will comment if you complete all the tests before the second bell, Sebastian will question if you somehow have played these games before, so I can add in something else if you didn’t even talk to him in any of the test chambers. Though I probably won’t go full 4th wall break with Eldritch being control.

Vore is always something I have struggled to really write, but I’ll try to do it justice with another scene some time down the road. And if you want it in a more major way, one of the quest lines for Dawn in Project Atlas might have some serious vore action in the future.

You likely inception-ed it into my subconsciousness, so thank you!

Oh damn, WAY longer than I thought! Thank you for letting me know.

I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed the update! It was a LOT of work, but a lot of fun to put all these scenes together, and I enjoyed getting two of the town ā€œhard casesā€ into the light with Dana and Fresha this time around.

Also good to hear you are enjoying the romances, you should be in luck in the next update or two when Flower Day comes around!

That’s fair! I knew she was going to be a ā€˜love her or hate her’ kind of gal!

Lol, fair.

If you like head explosions, then I imagine scanners must be peak cinema!
With Fresha and Dana now in a happier state, Thomas may be one of the last few ā€œholdoutsā€ left, so expect an update for him sooner or later in the rotation!

Shiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
