Cause for Concern - Stuffing / Vore Focused RPG Maker Game

I didn’t think it was possible to get mina to 25 fullness before you beat the bandit camp. I tip my hat to you.

Finally got around to finishing the game and writing up my thoughts – I’ll spoiler them just in case.

My thoughts

It’s always a happy moment when some new Nerds & ClinkoClinko content drops – I’m seriously shocked at the level of consistent quality you guys put into your works. At this point, I look at new Some Bullshit-adjacent releases with the same level of anticipation as AAA games – not a joke! I check the Some Bullshit and It Came From Lantrum threads almost every morning in case of a surprise announcement. When I saw the teaser with the shark girl, I was pretty hyped – I thought it’d be a one-off adventure like Interrogation Time, but nothing could have prepared me for a whole new game!

I will admit – this one didn’t initially grab me at first. I liked the characters of Petar and Mina, but the setting and initial story didn’t really resonate with me, and I couldn’t grasp the combat. I think I might have been disappointed that this game didn’t involve the cast from Some Bullshit. However, the game quickly grew on me, and I found myself starting to really enjoy the story, coincidentally right around the point where Sami showed up. The new cast of characters was really starting to engage me. Sooner or later, I was starting to feel that trademark anticipation of the end of the currently released content – hoping that the story would continue for just one more segment until I saw “that’s it for this update.” I was convinced that taking out the pirate captain would be the last thing and lulled myself into a false sense of security when I saw the build-up for infiltrating the Magos Tower, thinking “oh cool, this’ll be the last little thing and next update will be the Dwarven mountains” only to be cruelly reawakened right at the waterfall, haha – that’s on me for not expecting it!

I got better at the combat as time went on and found it a fresh alternative to typical RPG Maker engagements, especially since the randomized nature encourages replayability. I did notice that I almost never used the block function – felt redundant when you could just loop around an enemy or attack them at range with Luci. I love all the little secrets you can find there too – the Dagger Daniels scene was a nice surprise. My only reservation is that sometimes you can go quite a few loops without finding a specific tile you’re looking for – I don’t know what the fix would be but it took me a while to get to the cave with the “slime wall” in it with Sami.

I was really happy to hear that this game takes place in the same universe as Some Bullshit – I enjoyed the world there so much, it made it so much better to realize the worldbuilding here is adding onto some distant vista in the world of Some Bullshit. I love to imagine that Emmie, Pro, and Clara are embarking on their adventures at the same time as we experience our own on a distant continent.

Petar is a great character and I love experiencing the game as him – being able to make food and feed the girls is very fulfilling and it’s fun to compare/contrast him to, of all people, Emmie – both never allowed to leave the confines of their home/village until the start of the game. His mild personality is unbelievably charming

Mina Marimonte is a perfect contrast and also stands out in comparison to Emmie as both game’s “primary eaters” – Emmie is a girly girl while Mina is a boisterous tomboy. Mina’s larger than life attitude quickly grew on me and she fits in great as our heroine. Love seeing her belly bulging against the restraints of her belt – her attitude and appetite are perfect and I’m really looking forward to seeing how we can stuff her in the future. I love her relationship with Petar too. They’re perfect for each other and I want to see them get married and have 6 or 7 children in the epilogue, haha.

I wasn’t expecting to like Luci because I’ve never been much of a fan of cat girls – but her look and personality are top notch and she’s amazing to have as our “restrained eater”, the one who claims to not care that much about food but keeps getting stuffed beyond believe. It’s incredibly satisfying to see her relatively small tummy get filled out time and time again. The cat girl maid quest was absolutely top notched and the experience of sneaking her through a library while she tries to suppress an enormous burp was sublime – easily one of my favorite parts of the game so far.

And then there’s Sami – I love this character so much. From the very moment she showed up she was an absolutely joy to watch. Her blunt personality is great and having a vore-themed character feels like a real treat – love that it’s one of her abilities that we can use frequently. The shape of her belly is fantastic and overall I’m really excited to see what kind of hijinks she gets into in the future. One thing I’ve noticed is that stuffing/belly content in Nerds’ games tends to start out a little mild and build-up as time goes by, so the fact that she’s introduced by having her eat another character has me hoping for some really crazy situations in the future.

Jane Doe is a normal human girl and I have nothing to say about her. Okay, it took me longer than I’d care to admit to realize she’s a goblin – I remembered the teaser with Sami in the Some Bullshit thread and thought her mask would be pulled off and it’d turn out that was her.

I like Perri! It’s funny seeing her immediately get absurdly stuffed whenever you feed her anything. First hint that this game takes place in the same universe as Some Bullshit, once she starts talking about her boss – I love little continuity nods like this.

And then there’s Gigi – didn’t think I’d have a lot to say about her at first, but the last 5% of the game so far has me seriously excited to see what happens surrounding her. Didn’t love her at first, but google and basic medical knowledge tell me that cocktail of hormones she consumed from that potion are fertility-enhancing – in other words, somebody is trying to get pregnant very soon. I’m one of the few guys to really be into pregnancy + stuffing/burps, so pregnancy content from Nerds is a rare and wonderful gift – I made an account on this site specifically to thank him following the fairy cave arc in Some Bullshit. The stuff surrounding Gigi seems to strongly suggest some breeding content so I am very eager to see where that goes – hopefully we’ll get to feed her one day, but I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth! The pregnancy content in Some Bullshit was amazing and even though I know it’s not really Nerds’ thing, I’m grateful that he includes such content from time to time.

Overall, I really loved Cause for Concern and I’m excited to see where it goes from here on out. If you put Nerds and Clinko’s names on any game I’ll play it, and this is definitely the start of something really exciting from them.

Also, I did want to leave some feedback.

  1. I saw some people mention performance issues, and I wanted to add that, while my game was fine for the most part, my frames definitely chugged during the library sneaking sequence.
  2. A cave tile on the Turquoise Coast has a bridge leading to a chest with a mushroom guy in front of it – I wasn’t sure if I could interact with the mushroom or not so I tried to use Sami’s vore ability on it, which caused this error and crash. I attached a picture as well.

Thanks so much for the amazing content Nerds!

These two tiles (and the one between them) can be walked on which allows you to avoid having to attack that fourth bandit before interacting with the bandit leader.

After defeating the pirates and having control of Luci during the feast, you can just leave with her in control. Thankfully you can come back and do the Sami cutscene later on so it doesn’t softlock the game or anything, but it does allow for stuff like sleeping at your other camp and having Luci being the one to send Mina to the dungeon.

I’m with Petar - the current build ran out of content just as it was getting good.

Marvelous work as always, both of you! I love all of the new artwork (especially Sami’s), and the gameplay is not what I was expecting from an RPG Maker game! I knew real-time combat was a possibility, but somehow it still caught me off-guard!

Eagerly looking forward to what comes next! (Especially if the method for getting Petar up the waterfall is what I think it is, hehehe…)

I’ve greatly enjoyed what I’ve gotten to play so far, and I’m really looking forward to future builds!

I know we can support clinko through the orange tip jar, but is there any way to send our support to you, Nerds?

Nope! Comments and feed back is all I need. Thank you very much though, I do appreciate it.

Also for those waiting, the next bugfix patch is coming out soon. I think we covered everything in the thread. Along woth the fix, I’ll be releasing a mac version too.

I mean no ill, Nerds, but when you say things like that, you remind me of Petar, you own character, who think he doesnt deserve to be praised for everything he does. You do. Just like him. Praised and rewarded for your fantastic work. So, be a good man, and add your own tip jar. Accept people’s kindness.

Had stupid dream and potential idea - knowing Emmie playful side and her love for food I’d love her vore version to appear during one of Greggs eating contest. Though She would appear as hooded character, with only visible lower face and gold strands of hair falling and curvaceous body instantly showing she is female that introduced herself as “Itivi” (pun of ETV). Perhaps top enemy we planned to face was Magos woman as who would suspect true monster/monster eating machine entered. To beat magos we would have to shuffle like 500 greggs of food in 2:30 (seems it will be possible, challenging but doable - I hope). Upon learning result Magos would have like 499, but hooded girl would shock everyone having “OVER 9000” greggs of food devoured (maybe follow joke with something like “9001 to be precise”). I guess we would be fine with loosing but Magos would be entirely angry - like “Gorrila” that she was suppose to humiliated on her own barbaric field beaten her but also some “no name” appeared and toppled over everyone. Emmie will probably have enough of spoiled, rich woman and would eat Magos putting eveyone but Mina in bit of shock and when Magos Guard would try to intervene familiar looking guard capitain/woman in black (yes it’s either PRO TIME or CLARA TIME) would knock him out and moment later would give worried Gregg document saying Magos is connected to some crime in Lantrum and was to be captured alive or dead by order of Von Schlusse (hope I remember that right) and Royal Family order.

Sorry for short fanfic. I just love idea of Emmie becoming more like Esse daughter making Esse proud with progression - that Emmie has eaten bad girl.

After finally playing SB in full, Sami’s demeanor reminds me a lot of Hygge, it’s great, and feels almost intentional

That chef has ENORMOUS amounts of potential! Chuck can only hope some of his associates were in Nova Lygos before the raids started, someone HAS to teach him our ways!

Hi All,

Just letting folks know that I’ve released a bug fix version of 1.02. The highlight is that the Luci maid stealth section has been optimized and many tileset and other small scale bugs have been fixed. The reset for the eating contest should be working too. Lastly, the over 25 capacity bug SHOULD be fixed now for folks as well.

Catch it on itch or the updated mediafire link https://www.mediafire.com/file/uhbq5yt6mkq1p2a/Cause+For+Concern+v.01.03.7z/file.

With this being mostly complete, next up is new content.

Something funny i found out when starting the game is that it spawned me in a plataform in a dark voidplaying as luci, with mutliple clones of the main cast. i solved it by just putting my savefolder in the game but i thought it was funny

Uh oh, looks like the start position was reset. Whoops! Need to get that fix shared again.

I know im saying this right after a big patch, but has anyone else not able to change formation when in the battle mode?. Disregarding this, The game rocks Nerds! Glad you guys are some great game devs!

Not me dusting off this account for the first time in who knows how long. Hi Nerds, long-time fan here.

I was curious about why Luci’s stomach looks the way it does at the larger fullness sizes. Is it a cat thing?

Also, I’m liking this new game’s vibe and characters, the buffing people for the combat system is a lot of fun and dynamic in its own ways, along with its resource management keeping it from being stale. I look forward to your future work.

v.01.03 doesn’t start in a test room like in v01.02, but it still start with Luci as the sole party member instead of Petar. Same thing with the sprite you play as.

In this version, Luci is even playable during the tutorial dungeon alongside Mina. After it’s over, Petar is added to the party but Luci is still there.

It does fix itself eventually, when Luci actually join the party during the first proper dungeon.

Damn. I know what happened. I’m sorry everyone, I’ll have the fix out soon.

Hi Everyone,

Apologies about all the bug troubles. Was certainly not expecting 3 releases all back to back trying to fix the same start position issue. Going forward I’ll do better about it. https://www.mediafire.com/file/ov9qzy5ihenkgp7/Cause+For+Concern+v.01.04.7z/file is the new media fire and itch is already updated.

On the plus side, a MacOS version on the game is now available on itch! If you are only MacOS, you can now play!

Just wanted to say that I replayed the maid stealth section and it ran as smooth as butter. Nice work, Nerds!

Words can’t describe the excitement I feel from reading “next up is new content.” I know it’s a long way off but it’s worth it to see what’s cooking.

It’s really cute and charming… I like Sami the most. Luci’s a close second though, and I even appreciate the small nod to the fairy queen (my favorite!) early on with Perri mentioning her (albeit not by name).

The bugfixing is greatly appreciated too, though my whole run was on initial release (thankfully I didn’t run into anything major!)

I did wonder, though, since there’s a text sound effect… can characters get their own unique ones? That’s something you see in some games, it can be a cute little addition if that’s something you can manage :0
