Coven of Calahree, Now Live! (v1.1.4.1 (Public Demo Available)]

Sure am! It’ll be available on our Itch.io page once it’s all finished. Every new demo is posted there too!

All patrons who support the game will get a finished copy for free

Being that I don’t have a Patreon account, I’ll probably just do that (unless something else, available only on Patreon, forces me to get one). I’m glad to see all patron will get it, but how do you define ‘who support the game’? Does that mean that they just had to be a patron while it was being developed, at some point, or that they’ll need to be one after its finished release?

Also, I’d like to give kudos to you also releasing it on Itch. Even though so many games here are free, and so many other on Itch are ‘pay what you like,’ it’s definitely not unreasonable to want to be paid for a good game - and having multiple easy ways to buy it always helps. Much as some people use it as an excuse to be amoral, piracy really is partly a service issue; if you make something difficult to acquire by reasonable means, people will no longer wish to be reasonable in acquiring it. After all, it’s also why it’s so hard for different companies to compete with the near-monopoly Steam was (before forcing exclusivity or inter-connectivity, which causes its own dissatisfaction and problems) - people hate being forced to do something they don’t want to do, just to get something they also have to pay for. It’s the right thing to do, but it doesn’t feel good - and will always cause some to either do the wrong thing, or to just not get it altogether (I’ve skipped getting/playing a bunch of games because they required a different launcher, for example). With how easy it is to buy games like this through Itch, it removes even the most blatant and desperate defense for piracy.

Alright, thank you very much!

I’ll make an announcement over on Patreon once it’s ready to launch. Anyone who has subscribed to me at one point gets my emails. It’ll be anyone who is currently subscribed to the $5 tier and up, and there will be a timed link for the downloads.

It’ll be available on Itch.io and we’re THINKING about putting it on Steam as well. You said it best, the easier it is to access, the more people can play it!

I appreciate that we have alternate options to buy it. Nothing against anyone who just hosts on Steam but well…I have family as my Friends on Steam. :stuck_out_tongue:

New update has been posted to the Patreon!

As I said in the main post (for those who are subscribers) this update is a little bare bones due to time constraints. It’s designed to give you a chance to catch up on sidequests that you may have missed.

For people playing the demo (or people who haven’t played the demo yet!) there was a lot of spritework and retroactive additions added to this version, making it look a little more polished and clean.

For one, Ginny’s Bunny Form (and all of the other Bunny Gals) now have their own individual face sprites! There’s another surprise in there for people who have done Bunny’s Quest right (or who just want to replay the “bad end” scenario!) but that’s neither here nor there.

Tia and Delilah can now be fattened up after their respective chapters (at the expense of using them as party members) and the Lazy Guard now has not only a girlfriend but also an individual sprite!

Depending on how you handle the Fat Housewife storyline, you can POTENTIALLY wind up with a whole flock of fat, identical maids (now with a reworked sprite) AND the same goes for the guards (albeit that one’s more of an eventuality - you don’t really have to do anything)

New characters that haven’t been really developed yet (because I am but one man) is the reworked Item Shop and his wife.

Next update, we tackle the sidequests like the Shirewood Shipping Heiress, the next chapter in the Bunny Bombshell story, and the two diverging paths for Kara and Remi.

After that, Chapter 6 should be a much more straightforward and (hopefully for me) simple update.

Day One patch is up! Mostly minor fixes with this one, but ones that either ruined the fun for demo players or made it difficult to progress in the latest Chapter.

Those curious can check the changelog!

New update in the OP!

There have been a few fun changes this time around, most notably some retroactive ones involving characters in the Church of Belladonna. There have also been some portrait sprite uploads and some redesigns of areas.

eventually, Dienro Scenarios will be opened back up - once they are, they’ll also be included in the demo (so long as the item linked to the scenes can be optained)

Would it be possible to add a small text box or something that says when you are done with everything in a chapter? Sometimes i miss some stuff or im not sure if i have done everything in a chapter. It would definetly help tremendously

I’ll see what I can do! It might not make it in by this coming update, but I’ll see about working in that feature soon

Hello, I am a patron who is playing on v.0.5.1.0 and I got stuck somewhere and cannot figure out how to continue. It is more likely me being bad at games than a bug. I am in chapter 3 and I talked to the blue lady who sent me to the cave. Once I am in the cave, I am unsure what to do from there. There is a crystal blocking the path. Anyone know how to proceed in the game?

You should be able to interact with one of the wood planks leading further up. The wall will come down and you should be able to progress

I’m having trouble launching the demo on an M1 Macbook Air, the game just crashes as soon as I try to start a new game :frowning:

I’m late to the party but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the public demo so far! Other than a few non-egregious typos (“eek” instead of “eke” for example) and some tile clipping issues here and there - most notably in Titania’s chamber - it’s been a blast to play.

Favourite character thus far is Griselda for her imperious manner and defensiveness about her (alleged) weight gain. Ginny is a delight too; her bubbly exterior belies a keen edge of competency to her that even Calahree had picked up upon (unless the “bright” moniker is a mocking one).

One detail that I must commend you for was the details in the level design. Each location feels well put together! Even though Aemple does feel a little large as a map (living up to its name I suppose) it doesn’t feel like a chore to traverse.

Might have to give Patreon a looksee~

That may be because the latest version of the demo hasn’t been built and repackaged on a Mac yet - I have to outsource that to someone, and I haven’t had them do it for me yet. I’m sorry about that!

Happy to know that you’ve been enjoying it so far!

I’ll play Orwellian moderator for a moment and clarify that Calahree isn’t being facetious when she refers to Ginny as the Bright One. Her moniker for her does in fact reflect her bright, bubbly exterior as well as her latent talent for magic that excels her sisters’.

I’m also building the new area for Chapter 6 at the moment, so I could use all of the support I can get with my level design! I know Aemple is a bit sprawling, but I try to make sure that there’s plenty to do in each chapter so that it doesn’t feel like wasted space.

New update in the OP! And also a new version of the demo that takes y’all to Chapter 4!

I figured that it was time that my WG folks got a little taste of what’s to come!

So, i can’t seem to enter the fairy realm in chapter 4, as it shows Griselda’s line of text then does nothing.
