Crusader Kings 2 - 3.0's weight gain

Born with re; those trains doesn’t make sense to me since people aren’t born with fetishes, by and large. However, I do like the idea of an extra option to existing events for teenage infatuation that can result in one of the fetish traits.

I agree that it’s not hard at all to turn courtiers into blimps in demo 5, possibly too easy since in modern times (let alone medieval!) the quantity of food required to maintain let along gain up into blimp status is beyond most people. Ideally, WG will be tweaked to be progressively harder; there’s several ways to do do that.

I did make it so that higher weight ranks would lower weight level when the weight pulse fires a bit ago (not demo 5). I took a look at it again and decided to make it a bit more intense. Pudgy belly -1 weight, Chubby and Flabby -2, Fatty and Rotund -3, Butter ball and lardy -4, and Blob -5 weight. I’ll see if this makes it any better. I also toned down the dinner date’s weight increase, I’m not sure I mentioned it already or not.

I would not say I necessarily disagree with you about being born with fetishes because for some they are a learned to like thing but to offer another perspective I would say I was born with this fetish and I did not discover it till later when I was older. I would describe it as my brain was wired to appreciate it but until I was introduce to it I didn’t know it. how you implement this in game and weather the character just starts with it or is given it later is semantics to me.

When do the Heresies show up during play?

In the next demo, they will appear on the catholic or orthodox characters that choose to convert during the holy man event, and I believe they will naturally appear in regions where the parent religion has low moral authority. They can also appear in Holy Fury’s random/broken world generation if you have the Religions: Full Random rule turned on, it can also be chosen if you have the ruler designer DLC.

I know you have your hands full of bug fixes, religion ideas, etc, but I’d also like to add my own contribution to the pile of potential features that could happen in the future.

Primarily, I want there to be a way for fat fetishists to fatten someone up in a subtle fashion. Dinner dates are interesting and all, but they increase the weight levels of both parties involved. It could perform sort of like a strange form of the Seduction focus’s special ability, but instead for weight gain(where the two can fall in love after one gains a bit of weight). Of course, since I know players don’t want to be forced to go down this path, there should be an option to weasel your way out if a fat fetishist AI tries to use it on a player they’re attracted to. (Though I generally lean on playing a feedee character, so I may be biased in what I want.)

I’m a big fan of narratives (as a story writer and roleplayer first and foremost, hence my contributions to localizations, (even if they’re quite meager and barebones) so any way to sort of expand that would be interesting. Story events really add a lot to the flavor(and because of CK2’s accelerated time, it’s hard to get an interesting narrative early on), which is why I loved such rare events like that one event where you try to find love. (which leads you down a crazy path where you inevitably fall in love with someone who’s already taken, which can end in a duel between you and the husband/wife)

Anyway, enough rambling. I love the work so far, keep it up, if there’s any kind of localizations you want me to contribute I’ll try my best. Though, as I’ve mentioned, narrative/story focused events that involve fattening (including ones you can force via decisions) will be a great boon to the mod overall.

Of course, it’s your mod. Do what you think is best! The progress so far is great, from the long-awaited stuffing events, to the potions, to the expansion on the gaining mechanics themselves.

Quick Edit: The Baking event could provide an interesting opportunity. Say, a character is sampling the other one’s baked goods, and they happen to gain a significant amount of weight from it. Both sides could gain the fetish traits from it. Something or other, I don’t know.

This was actually exactly my plan for it :slightly_smiling_face:.

I’ll add the subtle ways to fatten people up later on, probably after 1.0 though, since I still have so much to do and I’m already quite a bit further behind than I’d like to be. Cooks’ and bakers’ abilities will probably be the closet to 1 sided feeding until then (as well as stuffing).

I do hope I can make the two heresies I have currently introduced (as well as future ones) interesting from a narrative stand point. These two will probably have the most depth in terms of narrative, I don’t intend to make the other heresies joined at the hip like Bountism and Decadentism are, or least not to the same extent. I have planned to make a system where the religions will be in a “race” to complete certain objectives before the other. I haven’t quite worked out the main objective would be yet, but it will probably include holding Jerusalem (kingdom title) from the rival faith and having a massive amount of piety. The reward for completing the objective would be some global event where the victorious faith would be able to choose a debuff for the other religion (haven’t quite worked it out yet). I want it to be a sort of king of the hill type of thing though, so if the other faith manages to overcome their debuff and take Jerusalem back from the rival (will likely make a special CB for these two heresies if the rival one is holding the title. This is to give the AI a better chance of posing a threat and to make the situation less stable), they can remove the debuff. I also want smaller events where the two will try to discredit the other in smaller ways, mostly through damaging the other’s moral authority.
The religion will also be prone to having characters with certain traits convert to the rival religion through a random event (Example: Charitable and kind characters are more likely to switch to Bountism, and proud or ambitious characters are more likely to switch to Decadnetism).

This is kind of beside the point, but while I’m still taking about the heresies, I have to change Bountism’s reliance on prosperity as a mechanic a bit when I finally get around to working on it. I couldn’t find any condition to measure how many prospering counties a character has in their realm, so I came up with another way to get around this. I’m going to make a system where rulers can develop farmland in a county via a targeted decision. With a bit of gold investment, you will be able to add a simple modifier to a county that will improve the local tax modifier, increase the county’s prosperity (for those with the Reaper’s Due DLC), as well as give the character that developed the land a form of XP that I will mention a bit later. I want make the modifier have three tiers that will increase the payout of the farmland. After reaching certain thresholds of “XP” from developing farmland, the character will get modifiers that will increase their monthly piety so long as they remain Bountist. This will be an issue since they will eventually run out of land to develop, so there will also be another form of farmland development, personal farmland. Personal farmland is different since it won’t require undeveloped counties to improve, it will instead be something that is handled by the specific character that owns the land (so it will be using character flags and modifiers instead county flags and modifiers). You will be able to earn XP by upgrading personal farmland as well. Personal farmland will be far more customizable (number of and diversity of upgrade types) than the county farmland. Personal farmland is lost upon that character’s death, so the XP gaining process can start over again for their heirs. If a county with developed farm land is conquered by a religion that is not Bountism, the modifiers are removed due to them choosing to divert their resources elsewhere (they will get the amount of gold that was invested into the county after taking it though, so it is still lucrative to a degree). If the county’s new owner is a Decadentist, the modifiers will not be removed, but the Decadentist ruler won’t be able to develop them any further or receive the investment gold from taking it.

I needed to make this change due to how there is no condition for how many prospering counties a character owns. I think this actually an improvement as well due to how it 1. makes Bountism not require the Reaper’s Due dlc to be worth playing (but it will make it better) 2. makes the heresy much more unique due to it’s custom mechanics that no other religion, culture, or government gets to have. Decadentism will also receive it’s own set of unique mechanics, namely CBs and costly excommunication powers.

I won’t lie, I’m already leaning towards Decadentism a fair bit, lol.

Are there plans to make gluttonous heresies for most or all the in-game religions, or just the two being developed plus pagans reforming in that direction?

Also, will there be more events occurring at higher weights? Given the nature of decadentism, I imagine rulers and their families would be able to grow quite vast in fairly short order.

I was hoping that people would start picking a favorite :slightly_smiling_face:.

I do intend to make a gluttonous heresy for every parent religion in the game, except for the eastern religions (they don’t have heresy as a concept in the game’s mechanics, the region still has potential for my religions due to Zunism and Bon paganism being prevalent in India and Tibet). The two heresies I have now are definitely going to have the most narrative to them, and possibly mechanical depth, not sure yet.

There will be more events happening at higher weights (and I need to fix or remove some of the ancient events I made). I will need some events for pretty much all weight categories, some exclusive to a specific range, so there will be a reason beyond combat skill to remain at the lower weights as well as the large ones.

EDIT: But like I said before, I would probably need help with writing for the other religions (except pagan since you can make those whatever you want). I’m only completely comfortable writing for Catholicism and mostly fine with Orthodox. From most to least knowledge I have for the other parent religions: Judaism, Sunni and Shia (Tie), Miaphysite and Nestorian (Tie), Ibadi, Zoroastrianism.

Remain at lower weights!? Heresy!

Oh, just a strange suggestion but:

What about, instead of Jerusalem, the goal of Bountism and Decadentism is to take a place known traditionally as a breadbasket, like Egypt? Egypt was known for its fertile floodplains, while Jerusalem is a holy city because of its importance in Abrahamic faiths. I don’t know if a heresy based around being a glutton would care much for actual genuine piousness as they would getting a hold of a place where they can have tons of grains and a trading hub at their disposal to make tons of pastries to fatten themselves up. (On top of producing food, it’s a place where you can buy spices, sugar, and other priceless things from the East.)

Just my suggestion, as my inner history/geography dork kicks in. (Alexandria IS a holy site for the Orthodox faith, too.)

or just places of greed in general, any place known for lots of food or money for food

I could make Alexandria or the kingdom of Egypt another major goal for the religions, maybe holding it (and meeting the other requirements) will give the faith that holds it a buff instead of giving the other a debuff. I think Jerusalem would still be very high on the priority list for Christian heresies seeking legitimization, and they are still Christian at the end of the day (albeit very bizarre Christians). I’ll consider it :slightly_smiling_face:.

I’m getting around to fixing the temporary obese glitches now. So far, I’m fairly confident that I found the culprit for continued feeding after temporary obesity is finished and the homosexual characters impregnating each other. After looking at the code for that event, it’s a rat’s nest. I need to fix some errors and remove redundancies from it.

I’m also curious on your ideas for bloodlines.

I have a few bloodlines in mind, I’ll list a few of them here:

  1. Standard fat bloodline- unlocked by gaining a massive amount of weight on one character without the deliberate assistance of potions. How much weight will vary from character to character, example; a Decadentist will need to gain significantly more weight to qualify than a Catholic would due to how much easier it is for them. Benefits for it would be fairly slim; an increased monthly prestige (they all will do this, but this one will have more monthly prestige than the others), an increase of stewardship +1 (partially balances out the stewardship penalty to gluttony), Upon growing up into an adult a character will have an option to choose a fetish trait if they want, small weight gain from the weight pulse for the character and the character’s spouse.

  2. Hunter bloodline- Using the future hunting skill/system, hunting and eating/feeding lots game meat and fish they will eventually unlock the bloodline. The bloodline will have the benefits of giving it’s members +1 martial, monthly prestige, improved tribal opinion, all members are born with some inherit hunting or fishing XP.

  3. Potion bloodline- Character with a vast knowledge and use of the potions will gain this bloodline after using many potions (and all potions at least once) you get the bloodline. The bloodline gives characters +1 learning, prestige, a free set of potions every time the weight pulse fires, access to further your knowledge on potions by allowing characters learn how to make new potions (what kind of potions I don’t know yet, but one of them will be a weight loss potion you can give people for an opinion buff if the receiver would want it).

  4. Not So Temporary Obesity- If a character remains temporarily obese for a very long time, have 100 hedonism variable, the hedonist trait, and the gluttonous trait they will unlock the bloodline. The bloodline will give prestige, a passive minor weight gain effect for the weight pulse, gives characters 50 hedonism variable whenever going into temporary obesity, and a 5% chance for these characters to blimp up into temporary obesity every time the weight pulse fires.

  5. Victorious Bountist/Decadentist - Bloodline awarded to the dynasty of either Bountism or Decadentism that managed to capture Jerusalem and give the rival faith a debuff first. This is actually two different bloodline, as they will have different effects depending on which religion is followed. I haven’t quire worked out what they do beyond making all Bountist or Decadentist like them more, monthly piety, and monthly prestige. They will probably have an effect that will make their respective unique religion features easier to accomplish.

  6. Baker and Cook bloodline - Very similar to the hunter bloodline, but for cooking/baking instead. It would give learning +1 and all children of the bloodline will have some innate cooking or baking XP.

Wait so Temporary Obesity will fire without a potion eventually?

Yes, I want a few ways for it to happen. I won’t, however, allow it to happen if players turn off the fantasy elements in the mod’s future options menu. Demons, half demons, and fallen angles with the gluttonous trait from Luxuria Fantasia will also have a 5% chance of randomly going into temporary obesity from the weight pulse, the skeleton for this is in place already, but I haven’t fully fleshed it out yet.

Feeder/feedee bloodlines tied to fattening a certain number of people up (with variants perhaps depending on if it’s courtesans or members of your own dynasty) would be fun.

Out of curiosity why did you call it Temporary Obesity instead of Temporary Immobility, that seems to make more sense to me.
