There are levels beyond seven, so if you aren’t seeing them is a bit concerning.

The usual way to beat a level is just beat it once, so if you are having issues of trying to progress then something is wrong with either the browser or possible the version of game you are playing (again I’m not sure). I advise posting this in the Bug thread of Eat the Dungeon, in case Bewildered-Angel or one of the others who help in the making of the game don’t see it here on the General thread. However make sure you list the computer (or device) you are using and the browser you playing on, as that will help them to try to see if they can replicate it and fix it.

In the mean time try it on other browsers (like Chrome or Internet Explorer) in order to see if the issue is also on those browsers.

I think there is a problem where the people with the money to pay $50 don’t necessarily have the capacity (or the desire) to submit designs that match the aesthetic of the rest of the game and the possibility of pooling minds together to come up with something a majority of people can get behind isn’t there.

It was previously mentioned that it’s not really possible to modify submitted designs without the approval of the original submitter and furthermore, if you’re changing that design, how many changes can you make before it’s Ship-Of-Theseus’d, making the idea of spending $50 for a chance of a design getting in the game no longer worth it?

That’s not a problem with the pricing, just that it isn’t a method that achieves the ideal outcome for the quality of the game, from my perspective. Yes, you can just avoid characters you don’t like, but holding votes, getting sketches, talking to patrons, getting all of the design stuff done takes up time and resources that could go into say, additional features, mechanics or other gameplay-side improvements…

There have been people in the past who paid at the $50 tier, but declined to submit character designs. They wanted to just contribute to development

I don’t usually make changes to designs, and I only do so with permission from the original patron. I want to make sure I respect their wishes and their original intent

I’d say I spend about 25% of my time each month on ETD working on the character designs, and about 25% of the money I make on patreon comes from the $50 tier. This was part of my reasoning for increasing the price of that tier, to make the time/money commensurate with each other.

I also think holding votes and finding ways to involve patrons is really important. Its a fun and direct way to participate in the development of the game.

As long as the designs are varied and the $50 patrons don’t fall into a pattern or overindulge in whatever biases they may character design wise over multiple designs (too many shared attributes across multiple characters for example.) I see no cause for concern. The designs we’ve seen thus far have been original and distinct. And while some have been better than others, in my opinion, I think the general trend of the quality of the character designs has only been increasing each poll. Everyone’s designs have been getting better, and I see no signs of stagnation or unoriginality.

That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing Bewildered Angel throwing in some of his own designs from time to time in classes that don’t get a lot of submissions. I think the Yellow Warrior and redesigned Red Warrior (Knight) are really great and would love to see more like them.

I might be cool to put in some more of my own designs. I don’t want to make more designs for any of the classes that have player submitted designs, because I think it would be kind of shitty if my design won over designs that people paid into the $50 tier for. I do want to add one or two male characters, this might be the best way to get those characters in, since male characters tend to be less popular

That seems like a good way of going about it to honor the $50 patrons. Doubly so if you want to add male characters. They would be a hard sell going up against female characters in the same poll otherwise lol.

Hm. So this may have already been asked and answered, but why were the speed settings removed with this update? I assume there must have been problems with them, but I personally never saw any malfunctions when using them…

You might need to clear your browser cache for the website

I removed the speed controls because I felt like they weren’t useful enough to justify cluttering the UI for the battle state

so how do i do that?

nevermind found out how

I feel like a keyboard key could act as a speed control toggle if you ever felt like bringing the feature back at some point without clogging up the ui.

That said, I usually only used to help speed up the process of extracting characters, and the level exit function has basically done a better job of that for me personally because it gives you a free extract now which is awesome, so I think it was a worthwhile trade.

I’m on an iPad and on chrome and it still is on 0.5.1. Clearing cached files and images hasn’t worked and iirc clearing cookies resets my progress and i don’t want to lose my progress. Any other things I could do or does clearing cookies not reset me?
