Fallout New Vegas Weight Gain Mod

I’m also working on the next few quests now. This might be a bit tricky since they all (can) use the same NPC. I’m working on the alternate version of “Bye Bye Love” (called “Love Handles”), the “Fruits of Your Labor” quest, and then the second part of “Wang Dang Atomic Tango”. They all have to be done together due to Joana being at least an optional objective in all three missions.

Just know that there is a game bug where Joana is removed from the game map if you complete “How Little We Know” before at least starting “Bye Bye Love”. “Bye Bye Love” is also failed if you complete “How Little We Know”, so you can’t do my quest “Love Handles” if you didn’t already commit to helping her gain weight to get kicked out. If you have the quest “Love Handles” and then complete “How Little We Know” my quest SHOULD be able to be completed.

The way Joana’s involvement works is that you start “Bye Bye Love”, do the weight gain path (this fails the original quest and starts “Love Handles”), you can either give her a lot of snack and junk food items to help her gain weight or you can give her the Vault 22 fruit. The vault 22 route has a few variations; you can pass a speech check and lie about the fruit being perfectly safe, tell her you already have produced a cure to the addiction (if you completed the quest beforehand), or you can tell her it’s addictive and you are still working on the cure (after this she refuses to use the fruit unless you are at the stage where Hildern is still looking for test subjects and you pass a barter check. If you pass, she will go to camp mcarren and help with that quest after you complete “Love Handles”.)

With Wang Dang Atomic Tango Part 2 (working on the title), if Joana is not employed as Hildern’s test subject, she is a hidden alternative to finding a fat escort. Having her sign off with the Garretts will provide the largest payout of any of the escorts you can hire.

I’m curious since I don’t have any experience with it, but does anyone know what is necessary to make a Wrye patch for New Vegas (as well as what exactly it does)? There’s going to be an issue with compatibility if I need to make changes to every food item in the game. I’d like to be compatible with other mods as much as possible, but unless there is another way to do the weight gain other than just adding the effects to the existing item, from what I understand, a Wrye patch would be necessary.

I made a few more perks as well.

Dietitian - Level 2, 30 medicine: This perk makes the plant based food items actually make you lose -1 current weight and whenever you eat food, you get a brief popup message that details what weight gain tier of food that you eat (weight loss, small, average, large, very large, and extreme).

Extra Padding - Level 8, Toughness perk: Each weight level gains an additional +1 DT. So Well fed gets +1, Chubby gets +2, Fat gets +3, Obese gets +4, and Morbidly Obese gets +5.

Rad Fatty - Level 14: Every 50 rads you gain +1 weight points and lose 25 rads during the weight loss calculation every day. The more weight you gain from rads over the course of the game, you will get permanent small benefits to your character (small boosts to skill points, increased rad resist etc.)

I’m still working on the fat and obese perks, I’m thinking of making one based around luck (probably the fat perk). I’m still open to ideas for more perks, I’d like to make enough of them so a character can fully invest into the weight system I’ve made (would be about 19 perks).

EDIT: I made the Fat unique perk

Silver Spoon (might change the name)- Level 4 and something I haven’t chosen yet- when fat, increases your critical hit chance by +1 (anywhere), and +2 luck when you are in the vanilla game’s casinos. This perk is not as powerful on a day-to-day basis due to it being one of the three weight levels that get the most attention in terms of perks. Very good for gambling though.

this looks like a pretty fun mod I’ll have to give it a download and start a new fallout nv save

I really would advise against trying to start a new game yet, it’s still very early in development and is mostly just for messing around and testing right now. Glad you are interested though :slightly_smiling_face:.

ah well i suppose i will watch for updates

could you possibly add trait that if you are too fat your thighs rub up together making your health down by 5 but you gain 20 speech and can you add jiggle bones

Hey man, could you give a detailed explanation on how to install the mod plz? or link up any discord server if there is one? I just don’t know how to install this

First thing I would do is get a mod manager for New Vegas to make the process easier, it’ll handle the install (or uninstall) process for the mods.

Then install the cbbe body for New Vegas from the Lover’s Lab link (you’ll also need to install the skeleton that mod requires).

Then just use the mod manager to install the actual weight gain mod.

Install everything in the above order, and if presented with the option to replace files during the installs, choose “yes”.

That should be all that’s needed. If there are problems with the skin textures, turn the setting “Archive Invalidation” to “on” in your mod manager (if it’s already on, turn the setting off and then on again).

Did you post your mod somewhere else? I don’t see it here and neither in the DeviantArt post.

I’ll admit… I’m a bit lost there. Can anyone help me ?

I believe you don’t have the skeleton installed correctly, do you have this? https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/3058-apple-jam-skeleton-fonv/

I’ve had issues like that happen myself. It’s a bit of a pain but try uninstalling every mod involved in making this mod work than reinstall it. It may take multiple installation attempts to get it all to work right

I’ve reinstalled everything and it goes the same way.
Yes fail, I have the skeletons installed too.
I’m gonna try again ^^’

Re:
Can’t make it work even when retrying, I’ll let it rot and give it a look when it is finished.

Okay, my dumbass accidentally blasted the sliders I made for the fat body. Also, it seems my backup doesn’t work unless I’m doing something wrong with that. So I will have to remake the sliders and body shape again. Not the end of the world, it probably needed to be done anyway, so I’ll be making that a priority now. Also, I will start working on this again alongside CK2. This just wasn’t very easy to work on while on a trip.

EDIT: Nevermind I got it working, but I probably still want to remake the sliders to improve the quality. Main thing I want to fix other than the sliders to be more smooth, is to correct that awful thing where the shoulder shrinks when running in third person.

I remade the body sizes, I think they look quite a bit better than before (they look pretty much the same, but the curves are much more rounded and smooth. The main stage that benefited was the “Fat” stage). I also have a fully converted version of the Legion Recruit outfit for all of the sizes now. It looks a bit janky, but I’m not a 3d modeler (it’s really only the last two sizes that look janky, the rest are fine). The main thing that has been improved is the fact that your arm shouldn’t have that weird bending thing when running in 3rd person.

So the next step is to start working on the system for switching out armor sizes. Which means I need to figure out what kind of clothing system I want, one where you need to craft/find armor that fits, or to just have clothing automatically refit to your size. I’m thinking of doing a hybrid approach to this, where clothing and light armors will automatically refit, but medium and heavy armors will need effort to be refitted. Thankfully this shouldn’t be a huge hurdle since the pregnancy mod already has a very similar system in place (speaking of which, it naturally wouldn’t be compatible unless you intend to be at minimum weight all of the time).

I like the hybrid idea a lot.
I’m looking forward to the updates! The current version is terrific

Leather armor and Field hand outfit are converted now too. I think I’m going to do a playthrough of just the vanilla game, and every time I enter a new town or camp I convert all of the outfits that are present as soon as I enter it. That way, I won’t be able to continue playing the game until they’re done. I have a near encyclopedic memory of this game, so it should go fairly quickly without the dlcs.

I’m going to be going through the intended path of the game while doing this. Once I reach the strip and deliver the platinum chip to my profile picture, I think I’ll release an updated version of the demo. If the clothing system isn’t implemented yet, I’ll dump all of my converted outfits into a chest in Doc Mitchel’s house (where all modded items go).
