Forks: A Weight Gain Visual Novel (Cancelled, all assets posted for everyone)

I utterly despise that this is something that needs to be hidden away from the world, like it’s some kind of heresy.

Hi just found all of this and I am kinda confused, how can I get an updated demo?

The only demo that’s out is linked at the top of the conversation, they’re working on a new one though

ok where?

You’re absolutely welcome! I like to show praise for those that deserve it in my eyes. I’m sure the complete project will be worth the cost. It’s obviously a labor of love!

New player here. As was alluded to above, having a weight gain fetish is very much stigmatized. We’re all aware of this. It’s as frustrating as it is unfortunate. That’s why stumbling upon a game that embraces it is such a rare and wonderous thing. I’ve really enjoyed playing what’s available, and I see a lot of potential. I will admit that I prefer Alice’s original character art over her new one, but this is subjective. I’m really looking forward to following this game as it’s developed, and can say that I’d gladly put money down to play it when it’s eventually released. Great job, keep up the good work!

I think we can agree that all of the old character art was better and more realistic in a way.

Speak for yourself, I love the new artstyle. It makes the characters a lot cuter imo.

I think many of us would disagree with you.

More realistic, maybe. Better, not necessarily. They’re different styles, I liked the old one but the new one’s perfectly fine.

Some dude flagged my post for being “offensive”? Really? There’s absolutely nothing offensive, it’s just my opinion.

Your opinion isn’t offensive. But saying that your opinion speaks for everyone is a little arrogant

Your criticism of this project’s stylistic direction and presumption that others agree was disrespectful to all parties. People who work so hard making games for this community don’t need that negativity and such comments are pointless. You are entitled to your opinion but still responsible for being tasteful and constructive when you choose to express yourself. I think the current art of Forks looks great.

Well about the game, I am glad it’s a visual novel.

Hey hey, the Forks mail always comes through!

Reality once again tried to interfere, but Alex’s portraits are all rendered! With Alex done, that means every gaining character is finished! That means two things:

  1. See this?

There’s a body attached to that, and FoxFire drew forty-five of these. He delivered the last one like it was routine work, the art equivalent of dropping the mic and walking away from an explosion.

  2. We can move on to outfits!

We’ll be meeting tomorrow to discuss outfits and some last edits to Alex’s sequence. All demo portraits are done now, but we want to make sure that everyone’s outfits are consistent along their entire lineups. That means CGs will be pushed back until all outfits are checked off, and if you thought 45 portraits sounded big, take a look at the current outfit count:

Add everything together, and that’s 178 outfits to draw. Just another day, right?
Once that’s all done, it’ll be CG time, and we’re both really excited for when we can start showing you progress on those! So, in short:

  1. Portraits and expressions are done.
  2. Outfits are next.
  3. Demo CGs after outfits.
  4. Clean up demo assets while I tie everything together for release!
  5. Work on future backgrounds/characters/CGs while the post-demo is underway.

And thassit for now! As always, I really appreciate everyone’s support and kind words. I’m very sorry this is taking so long, the original plan was to have the backend finished before revealing the game. That happened, but then we ended up retooling everything, so it’s like you’re all seeing this from the (new) beginning. At least it’s all for a better game

Ah, and that Alex shot isn’t much of a preview, so here’s a fun little fact: Grace was the first character to get a post-demo outfit. An older draft had a scene with Alex and Grace painting, and while that’s still planned, the new demo’s creep ended up pushing it out. Take a good look, because it’ll be a while before you see this again!
