Guess what? There’s a worldwide shortage of ikea table legs, which means this code monkey is gonna be tying up loose ends on the next beta while sitting on the floor.
On a completely unrelated note, for those of you who are connoiseurs of visual novels: what are some examples of interesting/exciting/unique game mechanics in top-tier visual novels? Looking for inspiration. What are some VNs that have a very distinctive game mechanic that sets them apart?
Majikoi S had a menu where you could decide on what path you wanted the character to go down if you just wanted to read through the story without having to Google which choices to make for an ideal run, and it had some pretty big Japanese Voice actors in it as well as a cameo from (not) Bill Gates.
I forget the specific details as I played the Majikoi series YEARS ago but I don’t know if there’s ever been another game where you feel such a real sense of friendship with the supporting cast. At least until the god dang h-scenes come in and the writing starts to feel phoned in but that’s a different can of worms
As someone who has the majority of his P.C games on steam i would advise it, as some players who play p.c will most likely to have their games on one conveniently on one store app system only and steam is the most commonly used one that the majority would be using right (and the less said about the epic store the better).
I prefer not having my steam/discord friends know when I’m playing fetish games, or have to jump through hoops setting up an alt account and switching between them.
By all means upload this to steam for those who want it, just keep it available on more ‘discrete’ distribution channels.
That and by advertising this project to a broader market on steam, it could open up anyone working on it to ridicule or harassment from hateful individuals, in the event that it somehow ends up on the front page of steam.
Well steam already has tons of various dirty visual novels, but yeah I wouldn’t want a fetish novel in my library. I’d prefer to use Itch.Io to buy this myself
I mean, to be fair, trolls will always be there, regardless of release platform. Steam just hits a wider audience, so it would just be more visible to your average, lazy troll.
Hell, given how much b.s. some fetish artists on Deviantart take, I’m kind of amazed we’ve never had anyone try and pull something like that on weight gaming.
Or the mods took it down faster then I could notice, lol.
Edit: and of course I forget this. Either platform works for me, as I’m not picky. What all does a person need to do to download a game off of itch? Do you need an account, or is it just like mediafire?
I have reservations about a game that is fetish based in my library in the event of playing with friends, or in the future trying to stream or do any e-sports stuff at my college. That being said, steam also feels more secure and easy to update if there were updates to the game, I have a slight mistrust of .io sites. Trolls will happen no matter what, but A Pirate’s Fate hasn’t really gotten any flack despite being a very popular transformation based game.
Something minor I liked about the original Steins;Gate (and to an extent, some of the other games in the franchise) was the ability to interact with other characters through text messages. It doesn’t necessarily break you out of the flow of the game, and it allows the writer to build up the characters or world just a little bit better without creating entire scenes, especially with the ability to have branching response chains. Steins;Gate also had minor ‘rewards’ for responding to certain chains in certain ways, little things like phone ringtones and wallpapers that enhanced the experience without actually being a necessary function (with the exception of one character’s texts, anyways).
true but as someone who owns that game on steam i had quite a few questions raised from my friends about it before i made it invisible in my collection

Holy crap, it’s finally out! Forget everything I’ve done, this demo would absolutely not have been possible without the fantastic work of everyone at Team Spoon.
I’m exhausted and my heart’s pounding as I’m sitting in my chair typing this, but sincerely, thank you Toroboro, @e123b, Ars, and everyone who’s supported the project!
